Hotel was just a 15 drive to LA convention center without having to play higher prices of downtown!
Rooms, were neat, clean and comfortable. Walls are a bit this and occasionally you can hear others but all in all an excellent value in a good location.
the hotel design is adorable, the staff was great. will definitely come again.
The hotel was a very nice place to stay. My wife and I enjoyed the staff and cleanliness plus the comfort of our room. We booked the room online which was a great price. We really liked how so many places are within walking distance to have dinner within the area. The decor was a plus and everything in our room worked with no problems. The bed was comfortable and the Direct TV was really pleasing. Even though the weather was raining and a little cold outside we were not able to take full advantage of the pool area, but we did notice they had an indoor lounge to hang out in with a ping pong table to play which was really awesome.
Always stay there, good and safe parking, unfortunately they charge.
meh. its an old apt building they slapped some paint on. Staff was great but place was a bust. THIN WALLS!
It's in Koreatown, so there's good food everywhere and in walking distance. Bed was comfortable and the bathroom was nice. Big screen TV. I didn't see if they had a gym. Would stay again. Close to Convention Center without having to get on highway, which is a win for me when in LA.
Cool hotel but needs some upgrades. Travel to LA downtown for business, I stay here because of the convenience. But management changed, not sure for good or bad, they are charging for parking now and no upgrades made to facilities to make that worth it.
They don't have bending machine.. That's the only one thing ma m
On June 5th I called your property at about 10 PM and spoke to a front desk agent, explaining that we would like to request a late check out. She explained that complimentary check out could be extended until 12 or 1 PM. I inquired about if it would be possible to pay a little extra to have it extended until 2 PM explaining that my client, was performing in LA that night. She said it was not possible unless I paid for an extra night and that I should call back in the morning and ask for the late check out and then if there was availability they would be able to extend it from from charge until 12:30 or 1 PM AT NO CHARGE based on their discretion. I called back in the morning around 9 AM and spoke to Jessica who told me that the guests could have complimentary late check out and just to make sure that they came down before 1 PM as they would need to clean the room. I asked her if there would be a charge and she told me that it was complimentary and that they would only charge if they guests stayed past 1 PM. At 12:40 PM, my clients called me from the lobby as there was now a new desk agent named Roland demanding that they pay $100 IN CASH. I spoke to Roland and explained to him my previous conversations with the previous two front desk agents and he told me he didn't care and that Jessica was the one who told him to make sure he charged them $50 PER HOUR. I have never ever in my LIFE as a frequent traveller had this happen to me. Roland was screaming at us.
The room, TV, and bed are big. There is a coffe machine in the room and if you ask they will give you iron and iron board. There is no refregerator though. You should pay $10 per night for the parking. The sheets smells like concentrated bleach. The view is not cool at all.The reason that i didnt give high rank is the reception staff. They are not welcomming at all. Though house keepers are really helpful and kind.
This was a stay-cation visiting all the way from Orange County. We attended a Dodger game via Uber no problem. When we returned we had dinner and bar hopped the area. We had a wonderful after 10 pm half off happy hour at the Backhouse. Great food , perfect service cool friendly crowd. We pretty much stayed between 6th and Wilshire and stumbled into EMC, The Brass Monkey, Escala, HMS, The Normandy and the Line Hotel. Very safe and clean as we walked all over late at night. The room was pretty much what I expected but much larger than other boutique hotels we have stayed at. I would go there again fer sure.
While they charge $10 for parking, they do not have enough for their guests. So, in a small garage, they have late guests block in those that arrive first. So, don't plan to leave early in the morning because another guest has your car hostage. The staff is made of typical teens. Neither here nor there. Lax in all. Not friendly, but not rude. Don't smile, but don't frown...just there. The decor is nice. Modern style. Comfortable bed. No amenities such as an iron in the room, etc. I would research the area before booking this hotel.
Clean, convenient to downtown LA. Nice location with some great restaurants within walking distance. Located in a very residential neighborhood.
Nice little hotel with the best rate in the area. Clean, comfortable room with a modern vibe. Secure parking.
The service at this hotel was incredible. Free parking is great. I grew up parking in the valley so I was used to small basement parking lots. The area is ok - it's Koreatown so not somewhere that you want to walk around at night, but there is a FANTASTIC donut shop around the corner (California Donuts) and if you have a car it's not far to anything good in LA. The room - it was large and roomy, the bed was SO comfortable. It felt more like a youth hostel than a hotel, though I couldn't explain exactly why. (Maybe it's the sparse furniture?) The floor was a little worn, and it looked like they needed a new cleaning company. Everything looked clean, but there was a type of film covering some surfaces- like the cleaning product wasn't good enough. I would definitely stay here again! The staff are wonderful, the bed comfortable, and the price was great!
The location was convenient and the free parking was a plus. I was unhappy that I was told that I would be able to do early check-in over the phone an hour prior & weeks in advance, BUT when I arrived my room was not ready. My plans were scheduled according to what I had been told so I was disappointed that I didn't even receive an apology for the incorrect information. Customer service is very important to me so I'm not sure I'd stay at Shelter Hotel again, which is unfortunate because I would have given a much better rating.
Just OK.. More amenities required, though the room was big nd clean
The staff at the Shelter was great...especially Val! This was perfect for at quick weekend trip to LA. Only a couple block from the Metro station.
This is the second time my gf and i have stayed here. It is great because they are dog friendly. It's a bit overpriced, but the rooms are very clean and nice. It is only a few blocks walk to the subway to downtown la.
