Me and my partner checked in on the 11th January we were both tired as we were travelling all day from Europe, so we checked-in in the hotel got our keys and went up to our room, once we have opened the door there was somebody else in the room! So we were all shocked! The reception staff then apologies and took us to a different room in the old side of the building. It was a triple room that we didn’t really booked for but we were tired and just wanted to get some rest. The room got super hot in the middle of the night as the radiator was on full blast, i then tried to turn it down but it didn’t work! i have emailed my concerns to the hotel. I appreciate the apologies but it sounds so sympathetic and a lot of excuses on the email. I mean i can go on with this. So if you are thinking of staying here, stay somewhere else! Not worth your money, i rather stay somewhere else with the same price but obviously a lot nicer too.
We stayed for two nights just after new year, and after the reviews we saw we were a little worried. Safe to say we were very surprised and impressed when we got there! The reception and entrance hall was clean, modern and very welcoming. The newly refurbished lift took us up to the 5th floor (room 505A) where the corridors had been freshly painted and newly carpeted. It smelt new, fresh and clean. The room wasn’t massive, but was more than enough for two people for a couple of nights. The bathroom was very modern and done to a high standard although the water pressure for the shower wasnt particularly strong. The bed was very comfy with crisp white sheets and lots of pillows. The BEST part was the free “travel buddy” which was basically an android phone pre loaded with software to help you get around London. It included google maps, tube stations as well as internet browser and tips and hints to help you get around London. We took it everywhere and used it to save our phone batteries when using maps etc. Honestly fantastic! The staff were friendly and helpful, and the 24hr reception was great. Breakfast was tasty and exactly what you’d expect for the price you pay. Would recommend and will definitely be booking another stay. The location is brilliant, close to two tube stations and on a main bus route, opposite Hyde park and Kensington palace. Couldn’t ask for more!
The location was great, very close to a London Underground station and bus stop, and also close to shops, restaurants and etc. All the staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and they clean the room everyday. The room was extremely small, smaller than expected in the pictures we saw before booking the rooms looked way bigger, we were having a difficult time move around in the room if we both were standing up. Also the walls were way too thin we could hear everything was going on in the other rooms, and I bet the could hear us too. The floor was noisy when you move the floor was making some weird squeals. The breakfast was very very basic. For the money we paid we were expecting a bit more comfort and privacy.
Honestly, this is a below average hotel. I paid £50 for one night so I know I shouldn’t expect too much but, the carpets in the hallways are horrid, dirty. The walls in my room were horrid. The room was freezing, even though the heater was on full blast. I asked to move rooms but they were fully booked. They did give my two extra duvets though which helped a lot. The bathroom was tiny but clean. Great shower, plenty of hot water. I think the best thing about the hotel is the staff. They were very accommodating.
My daughter & I stayed here for 2 nights at the end of November. After reading some of the reviews on here we prepared ourselves for what sounded like Fawlty Towers. I emailed ahead and asked for a nice twin room. After a short walk round the corner from the tube station, Along a lovely Bayswater High St with shops bars & restaurants & past Hyde Park we arrived at QPH. Reception was lovely & clean with friendly staff and check in was quick. We were escorted to our room by a receptionist. We were on the ground floor in Room 1. We were impressed with A large family room with 1 double & 2 single beds , shower room with ample sachets of shower gel, shampoo etc, flat screen TV. Tea/Coffee etc. We unpacked and went back out. We walked through Hyde Park, past Marble Arch, Kensington etc then got on the tube to Piccadilly to my favourite bar The Jewel for 2for1 cocktails ( download the DRINKI app for free drinks around London bars ) we then went to Camden and visited a few more great bars before ending up at Proud Camden. We arrived back at QPH around 4am where reception staff greeted us, and fell into our the nice comfy beds. After a few hours sleep we went to the restaurant for a lovely breakfast. Plenty of tables and cereal, French pastries then full English ( no bacon though ) plenty of choice and nice and hot. We ventured back out and went to Madame Tussaud’s , shopping in Oxford St, followed by a dusk ride on the London Eye & the Christmas Markets on the South Bank. Back to Bayswater for an evening meal then an early night. Another good sleep & lovely brekky , quick friendly check out then we hopped on the tube to Portobello Rd for a bit more shopping before lunchtime then heading to KGX for the journey home. A great weekend in a lovely old hotel with friendly efficient staff, newly renovated spotless rooms and good food. London was very safe with security checks everywhere, even small bars were checking handbags & frisking people so felt very safe. Will be returning very soon.
My friend and I stayed for one night as we had tickets for the O2. Our first impressions were not good. Tiny, cramped room which looked like it hadn't been decorated in years. The coridors and lifts were tiny and the same appearance. We had to shut our curtains because the window was filthy and covered in pigeon muck! My bed was very close to the bathroom door, so didn't have much room to move. But, we dicided that we were only there for one night and wouldn't be in there much so put up with it. Untill next morning when we were woken at 7am my people slamming doors. So, got up to make a cup of tea. It was then that my friend discovered she had not been sleeping alone!!! There were three small bugs of some sort running around in her bed. It looked like they had come out of her pillow. She managed to catch two and took them straight down to reception to complain. The man on the desk was sympathetic and said he would get the manager to speak to us when he came in. When the manager arrived he wasn't at all sympathetic. We didn't even get an apology. We were told that they would get Pest Control in to examine the room and let us know what the bugs were. To be honest we weren't interested in what the bugs were, they shouldn't have been there.... full stop!! Needless to say we won't be returning.
We stayed for 1 night whilst visiting Hyde Park. We didn't know till breakfast before checking out that we were on the referbished floor. The room was clean, crisp and, although small, suited us just fine. The bathroom was modern with a shower though again small. The carpets must be new too as they didn't feel trodden on and still fluffy. The bed was a proper double (not 2 singles pushed together) with really plump pillows and we had a nice view of London. We had this cute mobile in our room that the hotel encourage you too take out with you too use as a map, to find places of interest, resturants ect with other features which I thought was a brilliant idea. There are tea & coffee making facilities, tv and a hair dryer in the room too. Like I said though, we were on the referbished floor so i dont know about the rest of the building. Location wise was brilliant. 2 roads away from the station, 2 tube stops away from Hyde Park & 4 tube stops from Oxford Street. Breakfast was cooked well, it's a serve yourself with a small selection of hot & cold food & drink, which is served between 7 & 10. Check out times were great too, they give you till midday, which is a nicer time for all those not on a work trip. We enjoyed our stay here.
The rooms are average condition. The good part is that they provide mobile phone that is FOC, but the service is lousy. The front staff services was rather poor and the Manager, Patil not a friendly person either. The breakfast is good but the same things being served on daily basis. For the first time, we checked out at 9am and kept our bags before leaving to airport at 2pm, we were charged money for keeping our baggage in their luggage room, the hotel charge per bag per day charge. Not recommended at all, in fact, there are many other hotels in that area.
The place is tired beyond belief, carpets worn, scuffs over the walls, broken bits in the bathroom, toilet flush broken, and BED BUGS in room 216!!!! Disgusting - took the dead bugs down and all the Manager said was they would get the Pest Control in.............no sorry no remorse no nothing................ if I don't get a full refund for this one night stay after their 24 hour so called investigation then the pictures and video of the bed bugs is going on Trip Advisor and on Facebook and I will be finding out where I can get compensation from and get the hotel fumigated. The only view this room had was a window full of pigeon crap and I mean FULL, all over the window all over the window sill - no view whatsoever so God knows what the wall was outside............this place is a disgrace. The photos on their website and any other website are enhanced to a degree where they should belong to some kind of Misdescription Act. If they do have rooms that look anything like the photos then lucky you who got them!! How they can call themselves an Hotel I do not know................I was booked up to stay 5 nights at the end of February but have cancelled that, I would rather pay a lot more than have to share my bed with bugs. Words cannot describe the feeling when you look at your bed and see things crawling over it!! If the room we were staying in had to have pest control in then they should do the same in ALL the rooms.....................HORRID!!
This hotel had a basic room (rather scruffy) but adequate and comfy. Breakfast is a bit of a scrum but the food is good. Staff helpful and limousines booked were reasonable and punctual. Good location for tubes & Museums. Overall you get what you pay for!
