I was somewhat apprehensive as I had read some awful reviews as well as some fair ones. We had already paid for the twin room beforehand! This was just overnight and very handy for Theatres. It was clean, a little tired (carpets curtains decor) but the beds were comfortable and bedding perfect as we like flat pillows! Shower was good and plenty of towels. Sachets of shower gel & shampoo. Unfortunately we were situated next to the service rooms and there was so much noise at 7am. The breakfast was included and we enjoyed it, a little slow on the china & cups appearing because it was really busy. All the staff couldn't have been more polite. Friendly and Helpful with public transport questions. On the whole it was a pleasant stay for a three star hotel.
Please avoid at all costs, this is an absolute awful hotel, its dark, dingy, dated and disgusting, rooms are thoroughly depressing and no bigger than a postage stamp! staff are very unhelpful and just down right rude! we booked for 2 nights and didn't even stay 1, went across the road and booked the central park which was so so much nicer, clean, modern and welcoming. I have never taken much notice of reviews before but trust me after this hotel I most definitely will take in what the majority of people are saying.
We visited in July and the hotel is in a great location, very clean, comfortable and food was basic but nice. However, my boyfriend by accident left his shirt in the room when we left so I called to see if they had found it which they had. I asked if they could post it to us as it was a new shirt and was expensive, Ralf Lauren. They keep telling me they will call me back or to email the details. I'm still waiting! I have called 4 times and sent an email and I keep being palmed off. The fact they found it but are now refusing to give me an answer as to what is happening is totally ridiculous and really really bad customer service!
Good location and once I'd managed to get into the tiny shower, it was actually okay. Window, television, remote control, safe, bathroom floor, tap and plug all broken. Everything very tatty with chipped paint and marks all over the walls. Breakfast pretty awful as well. They say you get what you pay for and this is cheap for London, but not worth it in any event.
I do not recommend this hotel. The location is Ok. It is close to Queensway train stop, 10 min bus ride to Buckingham palace the. You can walk to big ben and catch the train two stops the convent gardens. Hotel staff was nice gave us good directions, breakfast was okay. My main issue was the carpet in the hotel!! It gave the hotel a damp moldy smell. It made me feel unclean. The ac is directly over the bed which can cause a cold so we had to sleep with it off. Our room had two showers one leaked so bad and wet the entire floor we couldn't use it again. No I would not stay there again.
This was chosen due to a poor first day stay elsewhere so was last minute and booked through tripadvisor (note to self for next time). All we needed was clean and basic with easy access to london sites. This was perfect and a stones throw away from hyde park and the tube station. we were able to drop bags off before the earliest booking in times so that helped a great deal. the staff were friendly and helpful. the room and facilities were clean. Room - paid for double and got double plus single bed. Nice space, very comfortable and quiet. nice coffee and tea and hairdryer provided. the shower room was clean and had supplies ie shampoo soap shower cap etc the towels was plentiful. the shower was good easy to use and hot as you like. free Wifi and Breakfast included was self service and a mix of options of hot food and or croissants toast cereals fruit etc very nice.
even though our room was in the 'new' building, the tap for the kitchen wasn't installed properly, the shower was very dirty, there was no lift so we had to cary our bags up 3 massive flights of stairs, the bed sounded like it was going to break every time you sat on it, no air con, plus you have to pay to be able to leave your luggage at the hotel after you check out.
My boyfriend booked this hotel as a birthday treat in conjunction with tickets to see Wicked. The hotel is very dated and dirty, there is no air conditioning and our room was absolutely boiling hot. The temperature was only about 20' outside, so I cannot imagine what it must be like when the weather is hot. The toilet was facing the sink so you had to sit sideways! The beds were uncomfortable and we had a double and 2 singles in our room, but the room was booked as a double. The coffee sachets provided were cheap and nasty. The shower gel and body wash were in sachets too. My boyfriend booked breakfast, at an additional cost, I was shocked that there were NO VEGETARIAN OPTIONS! I was told that I could just have mushrooms and tomatoes! So I went without. I note that they do not serve pork, so there is no bacon and there were only chicken sausages. The selection was poor and a lot of that on offer was clearly from cans. The eating area was small, overcrowded and noisy with long queues for everything. The staff were rude and unhelpful. We borrowed an iron and it leaked limescale, brown water all over my boyfriend's shirt, this meant he had no shirt for our evening at the theatre. When we complained they eventually offered to dry clean it if we were staying another night, they knew we weren't! I told them that they could dry clean it and then send it by special delivery! Then, as if by magic, it got done straight away. Finally, there were building works in progress and the main elevator was out of use. The other elevator door closed on me as I was exiting and bruised my arm. I would never stay here again.
Stayed overnight with my girlfriend for her birthday, ended up apologizing to her for booking this hotel...The room was dirty and the walls had plasters and dirt all over, as did the curtains. The only reason this isn't a one star review is that the bed was comfy and the bathroom was okay. Very small and basic room. Corridors are thin and dusty. The whole hotel could do with some TLC, or maybe a new owner who could inject some passion in to the place. The other reviews were right, do not recommend.
Pokey & dated! Worst bathroom ever, it was so small, neither of us bothered with the shower!!! Worst & smallest bed ever. I don't think they even make beds that bad anymore. Worst cooked breakfast ever. The only good thing going for this hotel is location. Otherwise book elsewhere.
