As a life time Marriott Platinum member I have stayed at 100's of properties throughout the world. Stayed at many of the Autograph Collection hotels and have a solid benchmark for rating hotels! This property at best is a 3-star hotel. When you check in they only have 2 individuals to check you in and the line is long (10-15 mins) because you sit down and it takes 5-10 mins to check in. I don't understand how this property is NOT required to have Express Check in for registered Platinum members? The check in process is only 25% for the low rating, the quality/condition of the room is totally unacceptable, the carpets have numerous stains and appear to lack housekeeping attention for the last 5 years! I refuse to stay at any property that requires you to wear slippers to walk around the room. When I called to express my concerns I requested to speak to the GM or MOD, of course, no callback! On our way out I stop by the Service Desk and explained my concerns, and upon my return (8 hours later) I was shocked to see that carpets had NOT been cleaned or a note offering to move us to another room! Went through the same process the following day and still, NO action taken. Finally, on the 3rd day the hotel sent housekeeping up to clean the carpets This is a classic sign of a poorly run property! I expect a timely response/action when I express concerns with the room. The GM needs to take ownership of this property and return guests calls. My feeling is that management needs to go back to school (Cornell School of Hotel Administration) to gain/understand the importance of the guest! Call us BACK! To be fair to the hotel they did offer on our last day at 5:00 PM to move us another (upgraded room) which we declined since we would have to move all our items! PCUSA rating: C+ (3 Star Rating). If you want a 4-5 star property, find another hotel!
This hotel offers in my opinion the very best afternoon tea in London by far We were there in a group of six for a special birthday for my wife and what a great atmosphere prevailed in the Park Room The quality of service and food is superb. We have tried quite a selection of the top 5 star hotels in London and the general consensus was that this one is clearly the tops Brilliant to have free flowing champagne which really made the occasion Altogether a brilliant experience
Just what you'd expect from a Marriott. I am a Platinum member and found the Park Lane Marriott to be an ideal choice for anyone who wants to stay at a high end hotel in London. The location was perfect, right next to the Marble Arch tube station, a hub station that will get you to anywhere in London; the foot of Oxford street which is minutes walk away from the shopping district and Soho; and of course Hyde Park, which is provides a nice break from the hustle and bustle of the city. Although a Marriott, the hotel had a boutique feel to it. Staff at front desk, concierge, restaurant and bar were top notch to a person. Rooms were spacious, although my room was on a lower level floor and had no windows and offered no views. Hotel also had a large pool and spa, which I believe is one of the few hotels in London with a pool. We didn't have time to use, but took a peak and would have been a nice break if we had more time. All friendly and helpful. As a Platinum member, We had access to the club lounge, so had breakfast there every morning which offered all you would expect in buffet style. I can't comment on breakfast at the restaurant, but had drinks at the hotel bar on a few occasions. Again, the staff was amazing. You will not go wrong or have any regrets in choosing the Marriott Park lane in this wonderful city of London.
Location: 5 stars This hotel is located across the street from Hyde Park by Oxford and Marble Arch. Very convenient location right next to the Marble Arch metro station (tube as they called it). From the outside the hotel doesn’t look luxurious but the rooms are very nice, recently renovated in 2014. From my research, this was one of the nicer Marriotts in that area and conveniently located near shops, restaurants and transportation. There were taxis always waiting outside so it was very convenient and quick to go places when needed. The Lounge: 5 stars I’m a Marriott Platinum member and would’ve had concierge access but we booked a Jr suite on the 4th floor that came with access. The lounge is located on the first floor toward the back with keycard access. The food and service there were great and almost every morning we ate breakfast with eggs, sausage, potatoes, charcuterie, cheeses, fruits, cereals, pastries, etc. and they even had vegetarian options. This lounge had a much better than average food/beverage selections than other Marriotts or JWs I have stayed at. The bar/coolers were well stocked with water, juices, sodas, etc., then wine and champagne in the late afternoon. This concierge lounge is definitely worth the upgrade if available. There is an onsite restaurant that is also great for meals, we took a break from the lounge one morning and ate breakfast at the restaurant instead. The food was very good, but the service was just okay, maybe in Europe the service is not as attentive as we are used to in the US? Rooms: 5 stars Our room location was on the 4th floor overlooking Hyde Park (see photo) and although it was facing the park with lots of traffic you could barely hear it inside the room. As usual for European hotels, the rooms are not that large compared to US counterparts, but it was still comfortable for a family of four. Our room had a living room with a pullout sofa bed, TV, closet and desk. The bedroom had another TV and king bed which was one of the more comfortable beds I slept on during our trip. The bathroom was very nice in marble with a washlet (bidet) on the toilet, separate tub and shower, heated towel rack. The shower had excellent Grohe hardware with ample water pressure. Pool/Sauna/Exercise/Spa Facility: 5 stars The pool, sauna, spa and exercise facilities are located in the basement, you have to take the elevator down there are no stairs for guests at least none that I saw. The pool is large enough for some laps and very nice with lights (see photo). The exercise room on the way to the pool has nice equipment with treadmills, elliptical and weights. We were, however, too busy with early morning tours so we never got to use it. They do have spa services and I wanted to get a massage but the time slots I wanted were always full. If you want spa services make sure you book it before or as soon as you get there. Also the spa service is run separately from the hotel so you can’t charge it to your room. When I was there they said cash only because their card system was down but they said that during our 5 days there when I checked for openings so am not sure if that is true or they really only want you to pay by cash. Service: 4 stars Service for the most part was great from check in to check out, and the concierge was a great help with restaurant recommendations and making a reservation for us on our first night there. The staff in the concierge lounge were also top notch and attentive. I gave service only 4 stars because of two things: 1) our alarm clock would not work so I asked one of the staff if they could fix it or replace it. It was never replaced or fixed and I never heard back. 2) I wasn’t quite sure what the purpose of the doorman was for when he almost never opened the door for us coming or going, and/or asked if we needed a taxi etc. It’s not like he was busy or anything, quite a few times he was just standing in the lobby but never made an effort to open the door, and I always had to go fetch the taxi myself. I would have expected better at this Marriott. Overall this Marriott is in a great location, has nice amenities and rooms. Definitely worth a return visit if we are in London again, but don’t worry I’ll get the door!
Well located at the northern end of Park Lane, at the top of Oxford Street at Marble Arch. Marble Arch Tube station right outside and Hyde Park across the road. The public areas of the hotel are modern and stylish and my deluxe room was luxuriously furnished. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it for a visit to London.
After arriving in London, it was a pleasure to step into this tranquil hotel and be greeted with a small chocolate and a drink! The rooms are large, with beautiful marble bathrooms, very comfortable bed, and a functional working space. The executive lounge was a treat, serving breakfast, tea/snack, and dinner, with some of the most gracious staff anywhere. The pool is beautiful. This is certainly a hotel I'd recommend to anyone, and I can't wait to get a chance to visit again. For context, I'm a platinum level member with Marriott and have stayed in quite a few hotels, but this is right at the top of the list.
On a recent trip to London we returned to the Marriott Park Lane. It's our favorite hotel in the city. The hotel is centrally located at Marble Arch. The Bond Street tube station and the Marble Arch station are nearby. There are a couple of bus stops nearby. The hotel is very luxurious. All the bathrooms feature "intelligent toilets" with s control wand for the extra features. The seats are heated! The beds have several pillows and are incredibly comfortable. The climate control system is good too. The hotel is very quiet. You don't hear any street noise because the double panes windows are further insulated with another layer of window a few inches back. The staff is very attentive. My early morning wake up call was delivered by a person, not an automated system. Are there drawbacks? It's expensive, but this is London. A centrally located hotel will not be cheap. The TV would freeze up and turn off occasionally. It started right back up again once you used the remote control. That was a minor issue. It's our favorite London hotel. We keep coming back.
We stayed here for one night in June and wish we could have stayed longer. My Marriott status enables us to be upgraded to a beautiful corner suite overlooking the park. The executive lounge is wonderful. And the gym, although small, is well-appointed. Looking forward to staying here longer in the future.
Room and location were fairly nice and just walking distance from Marble Arch station and very easily accessible to shopping hot spot. But I have terrible experience with my last stay there with my family: I was waken up by fire alarm for evacuation at 3AM......and I tried to call the operator for verification but NO one answer!!!!! The lobby bar billed some one else's alcohol and drinks to my room and the hotel associate totally ignored my request for double confirming the original bill and unilaterally charged my credit card for this controversial transaction without provide any evidence to justify that. I had tried to complain this to the hotel directly but my effort in vain and get no feedback. Strongly recommend guests about to choose this hotel for their stay in UK, must carefully take care of their hotel folio and verify the item related to you. Who know when the employees in the restaurant and bar to charge your room with someone else's expense(Maybe that's their own expense, stealing alcohol from the hotel and resell? I know I am subjective but it is really suspicious). Don't trust the management there as they are totally not responsible and will not help you to investigate this kind of problem you encounter after you check out. Overall, I am totally not satisfied with this stay and will keep complaining to Marriott Rewards for justice and correction.
We stayed here for 4 nights in a Grand Deluxe Room and had a fabulous experience. The staff was very friendly and attentive from Check-in to Check-out. Our room was very clean and spacious. My husband is a Gold Marriott Member so we had access to the Executive Lounge, which was a very nice perk. The Executive Lounge does get busy, but the food is tasty and service is great. The Marble Arch underground station is just around the corner, so it was very convenient to get around the city. Selfridges is only a 5 or 10 minute walk away, and there are many other shops in the area. Would definitely stay here again!
