We stayed in the hotel for 3 nights in a quick trip to London on holidays. The hotel staff was amazing and very kind to us, and the room was pretty nice and neat. The breakfast had a lot of options, both the continental and English ones, and you could have it in a lovely garden. We would absolutely come back.
I loved this hotel! Best hotel I've stayed in, in London, in years. I stayed for a two day conference and the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was lovely. Clean, bright and a little opulent. Four poster bed with a balcony and a great big tree outside the window. The windows were sash windows so I was delighted when I found they actually opened. There was a small two seater couch in the room and the bathroom had a power shower and bath. No problems with hot water and shampoo etc. provided. The bed was so comfortable I set two alarms! It was very quiet considering this was London. Outside there is a large garden to the rear and a little courtyard to the right of the gardens which was very private. Both gardens had a variety of furniture, mature trees and on a very hot evening, this was lovely to relax in. I think the hotel backs onto the rear of the British Museum which is literally around the corner and just a few minutes walk away. Also convenient for theatres and UCL. The nearest tube is five minutes walk max at Russell Square. Opposite the tube is Tesco Express and to get to the hotel you talk a short but lovely walk through Russell Park. If you are coming from Euston you could walk to the hotel in 15 mins. comfortably. Food in the restaurant was good and affordable. Set menu of two courses (good choice) for £22.00. The salmon was delicious and cooked perfectly. My only suggestion for the onsite restaurant is better chairs. They were very low and not fabulously comfortable. Conferencing facilities sadly let it down. The refreshments and lunches were good and the staff were great, but a small pull down temporary projector screen was a let down and made it difficult to follow the trainer and presentation materials. The sound also stopped working and I really felt for the trainer who battled through the technology failures. The chairs were not comfortable and after two days my bottom was numb! And the set up of the room was not great. Training is expensive and I didn't really feel the hotel was properly set up for conferencing facilities. As a London stay though, absolutely brilliant!
The hotel is old... but the glass on the doors don't get cleaned. That's not so important but it shows that things aren't well taken care of. Beds are not great. My room was in the basement. Things were dorty and mice were playing direct in front of my window. The check-on staff and toom service were nice and thoughtful.
We were placed in the basement level which, after you wind your way through an Escher-like cascade of stairs, fire doors, and hallways, unsurprisingly has very little light and a view solely of the rubbish removers in the morning. Despite these issues, the room was quiet, even with windows to the street. The staff, friendly and helpful. The breakfast nook, very pretty if tight. The location is wonderful, amidst Bloomsbury, close to the British Museum, walking distance to everything when you have the right pair of shoes on.
Last minute decision to stay in town for an additional 2 nights and I got a great deal on this hotel. Fast and efficient cvhevck in - also very friendly. Lovely single room - much bigger than your average London Single. Room 10. I have NO hesitation in recommending this hotel. Clean, friendly, chic and very central.
Location wise it is very good and reasonable in London standard. The staff are very warm and friendly. Whether it's a problem with a booking, need an urgent print out or even paper glue they will try to help. I stayed in a twin room which was quite spacious and very good array if toiletries. The restaurant has a lovely back garden and food and again the staff is very nice. The breakfast menu was good although might do with a bit more vegetarian option. The hotel has a retro feeling which is quite lovely. Yes some if the things are a bit jaded but the staff cover it with their warm reception and helpfulness. Compared to IBIS I will definitely prefer this but that's because i like the retro vibe and a room and bathroom I can move around. Will definitely stay again.
I stayed here with my daughter whilst visiting the British Museum, as it's just around the corner. It's a lovely hotel, with lots of character, and friendly staff. We enjoyed a lovely dinner, although the dining room was very quiet, and a buffet breakfast, with a good range of food on offer. We'd definitely stay here again.
Stay here often. Very nice hotel. Friendly staff. Close to all of London's attractions. Reasonable breakfast but costly. I only have breakfast if included in the cost of the room. The cost to add breakfast to a room only booking is expensive - better value in local cafes/coffee shops.
I stayed in the grange White Hall many times. But first time I have stayed in an executive room with a smaller bed than other rooms the double for myself and partner sealed to be a 4ft one . The staff were friendly and helpful as usual.
Great location and clean well equipped rooms in lovely part of town, only issue was with breakfast there seemed to be more guests than tables and some had to wait for other guests to finish. Having said that, food was lovely and great sausages!!
