Much to say in terms of fitting the bill, late booking and a need for accomodation close to relatives, the penthouse apartment did the job. Not large by any means however a well equipped kitchen, washing and ironing facilities, as well as a comfortable bed. The apartment was designed to accomodate small children, however space was competitive and access via a narrow and turning stairwell a challenge, never the less this place ticks many boxes and would suit a younger small family for a night or a few nights. Close to transport bus and the train station, it represents value.
Modern, stylish apartment, close to Finsbury Park tube, with lots of shops and restaurants nearby. Very comfortable bed, well equipped kitchen area. I would have given 5 stars, unfortunately the air conditioning was not working properly during our stay so the apartment was extremely hot - opening the window at night was not a real option because it is on a very busy and noisy street. The shower is a bit temperamental, it's difficult to get a moderate temperature between icy cold and scorching hot. Staff were friendly and helpful, they issued a second keycard when we needed one - this was great because you need the card for electricity in the flat. We arrived outside regular reception hours, but check-in was easy, the instructions we were given per e-mail were easy to understand and worked well.
We stayed for 3 nights in this two bedroomed apartment, which is actually on Fonthill Road very near to Finsbury Park underground station. These apartments have been newly renovated to a very high standard, and were very well equipped, with practically everything one could need, especially in the kitchen area. There were excellent additions such as ironing board , clothes airer , iron and hair dryer . However the one thing lacking, and I do plead with the owners to take note, there are not enough mirrors!!! The only mirror is in the bathroom, and it is actually a mirrored fronted bathroom cabinet. There needs to be at least two other mirrors including a full length one. Four people trying to get ready for a wedding, and jostling in front of the only mirror and also needing the bathroom is an absolute pain!! The position is very convenient for transport into Central London and there is a secure private parking across the road in Goodwin Street. Make sure you agree the required payment, and the duration before you leave your car. There are lots of nice cafés and restaurants of all types in the surrounding areas. The only "Fly in the ointment" apart from the mirror shortage, was the noise from the construction site, also in Goodwin St, but that, of course cannot be blamed on the owners. We would also mention that the stairs are quite narrow and steep so no good for people who are not very mobile or fit. Would definitely stay again and highly recommend.
I had a four night stay here recently with family. The apartment is small but well appointed with oven, two ring hob, microwave, washer/dryer, ironing board, iron, hairdryer and plenty of crockery etc. Lots of towels also, and nice crisp bedlinen. We were at the front of the building and had to have windows open the first night because it was so hot. However the noise is bad outside, so the next day we asked for a fan which was provided. So the next night was better as we were able to keep the windows closed. Shower is good and hot, but the sink in the bathroom took ages to empty. There is a great café downstairs called Happy Days. The apartments are about a 5 minute walk from Finsbury Park tube station, and from Finsbury Park itself. It really is a great location and there are lots of excellent restaurants nearby. I can highly recommend these apartments.
Stayed in an apartment for two in April, for one night. We had booked tickets for a football match at the Emirates Stadium and this apartment was in a brilliant location for both the stadium and the Finsbury Park train station (as we were travelling from Hertfordshire). It is about a five minute walk from the station and about 15-20 minute walk from the stadium. The check-in procedure (at Goodwin Street) was swift and easy and we were escorted to the apartment, about a 2-minute walk away. There are several eating places nearby and Sainsbury's (Stroud Green Road) and four Tesco stores are a short walk away. We arrived at 3pm and so bought our own evening meal and breakfast from Sainsbury's so as to prepare it in the apartment. The apartment was clean, well heated/cooled and, surprisingly, quiet enough to block out the traffic from the busy main road outside. Tea, coffee and limited toiletries (of pretty good quality) are provided. The bed and the bedroom itself were comfortable and there was ample storage for our one night stay (probably would have been ample for three or four nights, actually). The bathroom was clean and well heated, with enough towels for the two of us (some hotels seem not to realise that booking a room for two means that you need two towels). The lounge/kitchen was also well appointed with a large television set, a small dining table (with chairs) and a pull-down bed if we had needed it. The price was good (for the outskirts of London), even for self-catering. The only negatives were: - a lack of kitchen implements - I nearly burnt my fingers as there was no handle for the grill pan, no tongs and no spatulas to pick up hot food, so we needed to use forks etc. That's okay if you're camping in a tent but not in a serviced apartment. - we could have done with a second key for the door. My wife wanted to have a bath whilst I went to the shop for food items but, as the door key doubled as a key for the power, there would have been no lighting in the bathroom because I had taken it with me in order to get in the front door on my return. I would use this apartment again because of the cost, the freedom and the fact that it is close to the center of London (a good train/tube link and only took us 50 minutes to walk to King's Cross).
Pros: Clean, neat apartment with comfortable bed, hot shower, good kitchen, nice decor, plenty of light, helpful staff, located close to tube, restaurants, amenities, friendly diverse, multicultural area of London Cons: Location is a little sketchy for tourists. I'm from NYC so it's a bit like the area around Port Authority or 175th St in Manhattan. Presumably safe, but not very pretty. Also, there's no elevator, so if you're on the 4th floor it's a bit of a slog up the stairs. Summary: If you prefer value and convenience, this is an excellent place. If you're looking for a chain hotel with lots of brass and marble and a concierge, this is not the place for you.
Great base to explore London. 3 minutes walk from tube station and around 10 minutes on the tube to central London, tubes run every couple of minutes. In the local area there is a Costa, Tesco metro, Lidl, Greggs and lots of other little shops so great for getting in supplies, there are lots of takeaways in the area too if you don't feel like cooking in the apartment. The apartments are clean and well equipped, maybe a little on the small size and there is not much clothes storage space but ok to live out of the suitcase for a few days. There is a well equipped kitchen with a washer dryer and iron and ironing board. If you are planning on doing any washing remember to bring a wash tablet or 2. 1 bath and hand towel per person are provided. There is a fridge with small freezer compartment at the top which works very well. Another point to note is that there are stairs to the apartments with no lift access so something to bear in mind if you have mobility issues. The beds are comfortable and bedding cozy, the room also has heating and air con. In the apartment there are different plug sockets which would be helpful for international travellers. The only suggestion I have is that although there is a dustpan and brush, maybe a full size sweeping brush could be provided as after a few days the floor can generally get a bit dirty and it would be nice to quickly sweep the whole room each day or after meals, especially if you have young children. Also tin foil for cooking, bin bags and antibacterial wipes would be a useful if you are staying for a few nights. The bins are only emptied on request however we just put our rubbish in the bin across the road each day. Overall this was a perfect base for us to explore London and I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
Initially I thought it was rather small but it was clean, tidy and exactly what I expected. Pros: A short walk from Finsbury Park Check in was easy and the owners were very friendly Free glass of wine when you eat at their Cypriot restaurant Everything you need to be self sufficient Sainsbury's and Tesco just down the road Clean and tidy Quiet Cons: The bathroom was a bit small. 18" from the sink to the wall. No air con. Would I stay there again - YES.
This is a clean comfortable apartment. We had the studio which is one room with a hall and a bath room. It is not large but not tiny. It slept two people comfortably. The fold out bed took up the entire room at night but it easily folded away. A couple with child would be tight but it is doable if you plan to spend most of your time away from the apartment. The TV and WIFI worked well. The wifi went down once but came up the next day. Note there is not daily service like a hotel but this was not an issue for us. The value was very good as this was considerable less than a hotel. It is on busy street which however we were no bother with noise. No our apartment was four floors up and there is not a lift. If you do not like stars request a lower unit.
We stayed in the 2 bed apartment with our 2 young children. We found the apartment perfect for our needs; it was spacious, great value for a family, spotlessly clean and 3 minutes walk from Finsbury Park tube station. We were also allowed to check in early, which was a huge bonus after an early morning flight. The check in,which is in 13 Goodwin street, was quick and the lady at reception brought us to the apartment, which was less than 2 minutes away. London can be an expensive place to stay, especially for families but we found the Finsbury serviced apartments to be very reasonable. There are also plenty of fast food restaurants and supermarkets all within 5 minutes of the apartments for a self catering option. I would certainly recommend the apartments as they tick the all the boxes for London family accommodation. If I was to offer a couple of suggestions,a TV in the bedrooms and a better range of plates for self catering would be great. Also, whilst the living room windows are well soundproofed, the 2 bedrooms are not so if you need quiet to sleep, this could be an issue as the area around the apartment can be very loud, even at night. That said, though,we had a great stay and will certainly stay here again in the future.
