Everything was great. My boyfriend and I stayed here for 3 nights. Breakfast was excellent, staff was above friendly and helpful, location itself was perfect, cleanliness was on the top level. What more could one need? Very satisfied with our stay. Would definitely stay here again.
Amazing Service. Megan in the Food & Beverage Department more than helpful. Went out of her way to find me at Breakfast, to get my keys recut as asked for Late Departure. Also Reception Team Shift Leader, got our room sorted. Cleaned and inspected all by 1100Hrs. Great service. Start to finish... Bonus side! They had HASH BROWNS 😍
This hotel was very clean, the room was very nice, and the staff (front desk, housekeeping, bartenders) were all very helpful throughout our week long stay with them. The location is great, it is walking distance to Tower Bridge and the Tower of London, and right across the street is the Aldgate East underground station with access to the District and Hammersmith lines which easily connect to anywhere you would want to go in London. I would highly recommend this hotel.
Another long wait for check in and check out - they just need more staff on at peak times. Rooms are very good, although on this occasion the door for the wardrobe area would not slide open. Otherwise, clean and quiet.
I’m picky with hotel rooms and the junior suite here is one of the best I’ve stayed in. Not missing any of the important features for me: A dressing table area with electric points for hair appliances. Praise the lord ! Really good spacious bathroom with lovely shower, roll top bath, good mirror and light up make up mirror with plenty of towels and toiletries. Fridge sticked with more than the standard amount of complimentary bottled water. Power points either side of the comfortable bed. Fantastic styling very much to my taste and lovely lighting. Great tv and good tea/coffee facilities although needed more than the one normal tea bag. Cool yet comfortable vibe I could live in it! So I’d love to give it full marks but unfortunately I have to mark my score down ... Breakfast although edible was so unorganised ; the first morning we were never offered tea/coffee so the next day we were sure to ask for it as we were seated, the tea came but no milk. Both mornings the one choice of egg (flavourless scrambled) and hash browns had run out, 2nd morning glasses for juice ran out then the bread plates ran out then the white bread and then the OJ. It’s a good job we were not in a hurry! The staff were all clearly working very hard but there weren’t enough or it needed better organising. I’ve never seen so many foods run out so frequently on a breakfast buffet you get much better service at a cheaper holiday inn style hotel. It is a new hotel so maybe this problem will soon be ironed out. The other negative we didn’t receive housekeeping despite being out for nearly 5 hours in the morning. A note was put under door saying they attempted later 4-5pm ish I think but by that time we were back in the room preparing for our evening out so obvs had put do not disturb sign back up. We missed not having the bed made for us and the restocked items. Maybe like breakfast the staffing need reorganising. Back on the plus side the Bar man was lovely, friendly polite and rather good at a cocktail! I’d still go back no worries, hopefully they can sort out the niggles soon.
Perfect location for us to walk to everything we needed to see in London. The room was beautiful, clean and quiet. Helpful and professional staff made our short stay in London smooth seamless. Very good value for money.
i stayed here with my Husband for two nights. The Hotel is so well located, just beside the Aldgate East tube station. it is only a short walk to London Bridge etc. The Rooms are spotless, and so quiet and comfortable.we got a really warm welcome at reception from the Front Office Manager and her team. We met the GM (James) and he was just so helpful and friendly, he showed us how to get to Saint Kathrine's Dock, this is well worth a visit. He was so knowledgeable, and seems to genuinely care about the customers. The food, both Dinner and breakfast was superb. I had the lamb and it was just the best. We were so well looked after by the Food and Beverage Manager, Michael, who was also really kind and efficient. So yes, i would definitely recommend this Hotel. it is just perfect. Thank you for a wonderful stay, and i cant wait to go back.
Stayed for 3 nights to visit London Open Gardens Weekend in june 2019. The hotel is easy to find opposite Algate East underground station. All staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was clean & tidy and a good size with plenty of cupboard & wardrobe space. There was a good choice of food at breakfast but you need to go early to avoid a wait for a table. On Sunday evening most of the restaurants in the area are closed so we had a very nice meal at a reasonable price including wine in the hotel restaurant. We would recommend this hotel as value for money in London.
First time staying at Clayton Hotel City of London. Stayed 3 nights to attend Fiddler on The Roof show and Billy Joel at Wembley Stadium Excellent new hotel. Didn’t eat here but coffee was great. Lovely rooms and shower. Aldgate East Underground 1 minute walk away. 10 minutes walk to Tower of London. 10 minutes to Spitalfields. Didn’t rate 5/5 due to constant smell of drains outside which has been mentioned in another review. Will be staying again though.
We arrived bang on the check in time and were originally told that only one of our two rooms were currently available. Once we had told the reception staff that we needed the rooms quickly in order to get changed and go out, they were helpful in making sure we got our second room asap. We were attending Secret Cinema - Casino Royale and were therefore all dressed up in tuxedos and ballgowns (which was a bit embarrassing for us mid-afternoon on a Sunday), but the staff were so friendly about it and all made comments on how amazing we looked. The rooms were perfect for our quick 1 night stay. The bed was really comfortable and the shower was nice and powerful. Only one small negative was the aircon - confusing to use at first and we were too cold, then too hot. We turned up to breakfast just after 9:30am and it wasn't too busy. The staff were more than happy to cook some fried eggs especially for my dad when he asked. Overall very pleased with our stay and we'd definitely be back again.
