My daughter and I stayed here for two nights. We had room number 8 which could accommodate 5 people, just below the top floor, so we had plenty of space for the 2 of us. The room has a small kitchen with a microwave and a fridge, and you can make coffee and tea. We received great service and felt very welcome, and we stored our luggage in the hotel before check-in on the first day as well as after check-out on the last day. Very convenient. The wifi works great, and though the bathroom is very small and less than fancy, it worked well for us. They had a discount for a nearby breakfast restaurant called Sicily, which I would recommend - really good, inexpensive breakfast.
The room we were given and the room advertised were completely different, we were sold a double bed and a bunk bed with a small kitchen area including fridge, microwave, table, chairs and potentially cutlery and plates in a 20m2 room, we got a 15m2 room with 4 beds next to each other and only a 2 foot passage way to the bathroom. There was a fridge and a microwave but nowhere to sit and eat or wash up. Also, it was in the attic so rather hot with only 2 small windows that could hardly open so had a hot uncomfortable night. When I raised these issues with the staff member available he shrugged his shoulders and said 'we have different family rooms', which is unacceptable given that they had clearly put extra beds in what looked like a double room. See the photos and judge for yourself. It was also on the 5th floor and without a lift, which with a 2 and a 4 year old (information which was given at the time of booking) + our luggage was a nightmare to negotiate. The TV did not work properly and we only had 2 channels we could watch. They offered nothing as compensation or reparation. I was really unhappy and felt scammed out of my money.
The hotel is nice and clean. Just a short distance to Victoria Station and other amenities. My room was very small but comfortable. The bathroom was tiny, but served its purpose. Would suit a smaller solo traveler. The sound carries throughout the hotel, so you hear every door slam and every footstep. It did not bother me so much but may be a problem if you are a light sleeper. There is no elevator in the hotel and the stairwells are very narrow so if you have a lot of luggage or if you have trouble getting upstairs, it would be best to request a ground floor room. Overall not a bad hoteI. Would stay again. PLEASE NOTE: The single rooms and bathrooms are VERY small, so if you are a larger / taller person, this room would not be comfortable.
The hotel is Nice and clean, and have a very friendly and helpful staff. The breakfast was very simple, so we eat the breakfast in the restaurants/pubs nearby. The hotel isn't in the centre of everything, but close enough to walk or take a taxi.
Very small rooms. Needed a night's stay near the Victoria Street bus station. Did not realise the hotel (felt more like a dorm) did not have free wifi and check out time is 10.30am. Our fault for not reading the facilities of the dorm before booking the room. Stairs leading to room. No elevator!
I booked two rooms April 4 for June 17 one night stay, going to airport the 18. Coming through London the previous week, and going over to find the hotel,I made quite clear to the young lady at the desk? we 4 80-year-olds needed a low floor room. When we appeared from our tour and appeared at the office of Belgravia Rooms, we were told our rooms were next door on the top floor (5th, it was an attic). Thank God for the luggage storage. Three of our group use canes, so we STRUGGLED up the stairs. They DID NOT honor a request a week ahead. The window in our rooms were tiny, but we struggled to open them as well as a roof window in the bathroom. We made it ok by also opening a window in the stair well and leaving our room door open all night. The lower floor I requested would have been cooler and SO much easier. We had such a difficult ascent since no elevator. Food---none, but I knew this Size of room-par for the course in London Heat--They could buy fans easily. We had a steam iron, but no fan. Bathroom--clean but tiny towels and no soap. Office--that's a laugh, no real office or gathering place
It is located next corner of Victoria Coach Station so it is very convenient. However, the room I booked has no own shower and toilet, it is literally bed room. When I booked through expedia there is no information about this therefore I expected it would be normal hotel room and I booked. Also it does not have an elevator nor escalator. It is rather fault of expedia that it did not provide important information. To me, if I knew it, it would not make any differences between cheap hostels as we have to share bathroom, I would have gone for hostels rather than paying double or triple charges. When one thinks to stay here, I suggest he/she to be aware of above.
This review is for flat 43 which is situated in Belgravia apartment building in Hughs Street which is two blocks from the check in point in Ebury St. I would like to state upfront that I did not bring these issues to the operator of the room as they are not something that can be fixed straight away (except maybe the toilet seat) and i am sure none of this will be a surprise to them. Also I have never rated a room like this before (you can check my reviews). I had checked the reviews from other people but knew that everyone has different quality expectations and I am pretty laid back so I thought that it should be okay. The Good The beds are very comfortable and we all slept well. Sheets are clean but some pillows are yellowed and need replacing. The kitchen is serviceable. The oven, stovetop, washing machine all work but the sink is stained but was clean. The kitchen also has everything you would need The apartment is a good size. Wifi and Tv's were great. The Trains The windows of the apartment back directly on to the train yard. Sometimes you can hear the trains click and clack past on the odd occasions but this was never an issue. The Bad The carpets as detailed in other reviews are very stained (see photos) but have been cleaned so it could be worse. The Ugly The main problem is with the ensuite bathroom, it basically is a mould fest. There are pictures attachment showing mould in the wall. The smell of the mould was invasive and hurt the back of your throat and eyes. Unfortunately this was the only shower that was usable. This was due to such a lack of water coming out of the shower in the main bathroom (see pictures) that we physically couldn't shower in it. Also the ensuite shower base leaked from the hole in the side (picture attached) and it wet the floor enough that a towel used as a bath mat had to be wrung out. The ensuite toilet was also dodgy as the seat was only attached at one point and amusingly I nearly came off a few times! Overall I stayed for the 4 days of my booking and I closed the ensuite door and only used it to briefly shower but I have real concerns with the state of the ensuite.
The location is top (just off Victoria station). The rooms are clean, our bed was good (the other persons travelling with us had another experience in their rooms). That makes fro the 3 stars. Anything else is low standard and 1 star: Two small towels only for two persons, no space in the room for anything, only cold water except in the tiny shower (electric heater, not very stable temperature), bad WLAN. A smile at the reception would make up a lot. But that is obviously not included in the relatively low price.
Don't let the prices fool you. This hostel is an affront to the industry, and the rooms are an affront to your nose. Rooms are visually ok. Rooms smell. Toilets and bathroom are awful and you wont want to shower an youll want to hold it in all night. Look elsewhere.... unless you want to spend an evening of resentment at Belgravia Rooms!
