Upon checking in we noted a sign on their boiler saying that it wasn't working. We asked the receptionist if it impacted on our hot water supply. They said it was cause us no problems. Well it did, we never had hot water for the duration of our stay. When we pointed out there being no hot water they said it was okay it will be fixed tomorrow. Tomorrow? You mean after we've checked out? How is that supposed to help. They seemed entirely bemused at how a lack of not water might be an issue. Further issues included a generally poor level of cleanliness, pokey rooms and less than helpful staff. Emailed the manager three times, tried phoning, have left messages but not heard anything back. Dreadful place, easily the worst hotel I've ever stayed in.
We stayed here for one Saturday night, in room 21, which was in the basement. We found the room to be clean and comfortable, small but perfect for a night stay. It is located just 5 minutes from Paddington, we dropped our bags off early and left them there after we’d checked out, until we were ready to go home. Tasty breakfast served in a clean light room. Everything we needed for a London stay and great value too.
So we stayed here for just 1 night after buying it from groupon. The welcoming was lovley and friendly. We were on the top floor. When we arrived rhe room was very small but that was ok not to much of a problem as we were only there to sleep. Tge bathroom was small so small infact that you had to squish yourself between the sink to get on the toilet. The shower was nice however there were a few dark hairs in our shower. We washed them away. When we arrived back to go to bed our bed was not very clean. My husband noticed a dark hair and i noticed a few stains. Either way we had a good nighta sleep which ia what we stayed for. The breakfast was very good. Only missing bacon but was very nice. The seats at the table were wet however and covered up with towels. A few people ended up with wet patches on their bottom.
One of the worst hotels I have ever been before... The staff is downright unfriendly and uninterested even a simple smile is too much... No identity check- nothing! It shouldn’t surprise me that I couldn’t get a wink of sleep because of bestial noises on my floor... it’s definitely anything but acceptable! The cleaning service is a catastrophe: dirty towels and linen as well as dusty surfaces and a strange smell all over the room... Last but not least, the breakfast which is basically a small selection of expired foods such as stale breads and croissants or ‘sweets’ with a pungent smell and taste... never again!
Great location near Hyde Park and Paddington Station.There are plenty of places to eat and a couple of pubs. That's where the good stuff ends! I emailed to ask for a ground floor room because my husband and I have mobility problems -we were given a room on the second floor up 4 flights of narrow stairs. The room was small as you'd expect for London, the bathroom tiny. The room itself lacked drawers and the wardrobe was off one hinge. There was no safe and, more importantly, no fire safety poster. This was especially important because the kettle was wired into the back of a socket already bearing a plug. We mentioned this at reception and asked where the fire muster point was. The receptionist pointed to the front door! There were no handtowels in our room. We asked but were not given any. The room was not exactly filthy but it would have benefitted from a deep clean, fresher pillows, new flooring and repair/painting. Breakfast was interesting - spam, scrambled eggs, cereal etc. The coffee was good. The accommodation for breakfast was very snug and not in a good way. The staff were pleasant enough but we won't be staying again. For rather less than we paid for this hotel, we could get a very nice, centrally located hotel in Rome - maybe next year.
I stayed overnight on a Groupon deal and loved the experience from start to finish. Lovely hospitality and I would love to stay here again when I visit London. Note to the hotel - please keep doing Groupon deals as I will definitely return again.
Stayed with my partner as part of a Groupon deal. In arrival we were told by the person in the reception, that we did not have a booking, this was the beginning of the saga. Next came his wife, who told us someone with exactly the same name, had checked in. This is wear it became very surreal. My partners name is not common, so for someone to have exactly the same Christian name and surname, and Groupon was bizzare. Next she insisted rather rudely, that they had said their name was my partners, and had registered and signed as such. Then came the suggestion that we had been hacked! We had to show I.D. even though she admitted that they hadnt, all this while sitting at in reception for a good half an hour . We were waiting for the middle aged suggested Master criminals to come back. Eventually she suggested the possibility, that she had miss heard them and their names , not checked their I.D. and that they had signed without reading the name on the document, which was my partners. We were made to feel embarrassed, eventually being given a room which was small but clean and cosy. With the promise that they would talk to the other couple and clarify the situation and the facts. They did eventually call and admit and confirm their mistake. The gave a cursory apology, but the whole experience, had tainted our stay. They had been rude and aggressive and made us feel very uncomfortable. So much so we left without the free breakfast! This was a shame as the room was fine and very reasonably priced. They need to address their customer service as others will be out off with their attitude.
we stayed in the opposite side of the main bit, slightly outdated but perfect for what we was looking for, which was a hotel near hyde park on a budget, brew making facilities, about a 7 minute walk to the park, around the corner from Paddington station, bed was comfy, room was clean, bathroom was clean, receptionist abit rude, didn't stay for breakfast but all in all couldn't grumble 👌👍 I would reccomend for a couple of nights definitley
The rooms were compact and clean. The beds were very comfortable..The bathroom was new and pristine. The showers excellent. Breakfast was buffet style and wholesome. The rooms were above the reception area.
I was booked into this hotel to attend an awards evening at Lords Cricket Ground. I asked by email on their web site to have a room adjacent to and on the same floor as my colleague. I got no answer from the email. I was given a single room in the basement and my colleague a single room on the ground floor. Rather inconvenient. Helpful over ordering taxis for us though ! No bedside lamp only the main light which could only be turned off by getting out of bed. Electric clock on the wall was not working. Mini fridge (empty) in room was useful though. Breakfast was included in the fair price and was quite pleasant. Had to go outside from reception to next door for our rooms. I would probably stay again but I would like to see more attention given to guests needs. Electrics looked a bit dodgy to me as well.
