Brown's Dowtown really surprised us, in a good way! The staff is juste ADORABLE, they're friendly, helpful, always there for you. The customer service is great, loved it. The room was a bit small, but enjoyably designed, with little flaws (too much sound systems for the size of the room maybe, and ipad + imac may be too much, especially since we can't move the ipad). We had a view on some kind of a dirty court, but the room itself was great. Everything was neat and clean! The worst was actually the bath, and more precisely the water temperature. First of all, we had to struggle to enter in the bath, because we couldn't even open the door entirely. Then, another challenge: trying to figure out how to adjust the temperature (no indications, ans we had to wait for hot water so it wasn't really obvious). But, the most annoying was that the water temperature was changing, totally unstable, and sometime I would have to avoid sudden jets of really hot water (in this tiny box, not easy without opening the door and putting water everywhere), then I would have to adjust the temperature again and get freezed by cold water, to finally find a balanced temperature that would stay for... let's say, hmmm, 5min? But that's just a minor con! We loved the breakfast, that was served at Brown's Bistro, not far from the hotel, but the morning little walk to get there was nice, and the setup great! The locastion was wonderful, central but in a quiet road! That's about all I had to say. It wasn't perfect but I'll put a 5 anyways, since a 4 would lower the rate and I think that this 4,5 is totally deserved. Be sure I'll recommand Brown's Dowtown to anyone that I know who is travelling to Lisbon! <3
Customer is 1st!! Very good staff that is organized and friendly. Rooms clean, up to date amenities and the food is good. Close to train station. Good food, shopping and historical buildings within walking distance. 5*. Thank you staff!
This hotel was a very nice boutique hotel and the staff was very friendly. The best part was the location. You are in the middle of everything and it's an easy walk to the train station and the water...and everything in between.
The Hotel is an exellent spot to stay in. Close to everything and it is not on the busy roadways. It is clean and has everything you need. The staff are always ready to help in any way. The breakfast (which was included) was just steps away from the hotel and the food and coffee were excellent. We loved it!
We booked this hotel as it was advertised as having a small kitchen with toaster, kettle and crockery and cutlery. On arrival we discovered this was not the case and when we queried it, we were told that the manager had decided this option was no longer available in the rooms. After asking why we had not been notified of this and noting our displeasure the girl who checked us in went and spoke to the manager and advised us that we could have complimentary breakfast during our stay. She also obtained a lamp to put in the alcove in the corner of the room as it was very dark, as was the rest of the room.I queried the size of the room and explained that we had booked a superior double room and expected it to be larger and was advised that it was due to the configuration of the room(ie-next to the lift). There was no wardrobe, only a small rail to hang a few clothes on and the bathroom was behind a sliding door, which when closed, made it very claustrophobic. The corridors were also very dark and had lights on a sensor which did not come on until you actually stepped right out into the corridor. Although we were very disappointed in the size of the room(in hindsight we should have asked for another room immediately)we found it to be comfortable enough and the staff were extremely pleasant, especially Joana.Breakfast was taken in the hotel's bistro which was a few doors down from the hotel and was adequate but I'm glad it was complimentary as we would not have paid 10 euros each for it. For anyone thinking of booking this hotel I would recommend that you avoid any room ending in 17 as they all appeared to be next to the lift and will be very small-or ask to see the room before you decide. We did however love Lisbon and would go back in a heartbeat-just not to Browns Hotel(unless we were guaranteed a bigger room)
I had booked a small room at Brown's Boutique Hotel (another hotel I know, but keep reading) via booking for me, my wife and our daughter who is three years old and can sleep in our bed. When we arrived, we found out that the room was too small for us. There was no space for unpacking the baggage and the bathroom was in the room. We slept there the first night, but then decided that we could not stay there longer As we has paid in advance for 4 days, I told the guy at the reception that we had booked by mistake a room that was too small for us and asked if he had a larger room free we could move to by paying the extra. He told me that I had what I had paid (??), checked and there were no other rooms. Than I asked if we could get some money back if we moved out (so they could sell our room again), but he said no. As we had friends staying in an apartment, I told him that we were then moving with them, keeping the room only to store our baggage and he was ok with it (!!). We moved out, but when I passed by again to pick up something Manuel, the manager, came to me and offered us a suite in the nearby Brown's Downtown for no extra charge. The room was very nice and far larger. So, although the first guy was annoying, they treated us very well, doing much more than what they were supposed or asked to do (the booking was our mistake in the first place). Both hotels are nice and the staff is very helpful, although not all of them
Stayed here for 3 nights. Hotel well situated. Staff very friendly and helpful. We had a superior room on the 3rd floor, over looking the street. No problems with noise. Room a little small and dark, but the main issue is the space taken up by a computer and tablet. Lighting in the room is poor and some of the finishes are a little rough. Had breakfast on one of the mornings, ok but not anything special, glad we opted out of having it included.
Brown's is just around the corner from the best of Lisbon and a refined, calm oasis in a busy city. We metroed and walked from an overnight flight, simple and easy. The old city narrow streets would make driving a challenge. To keep moving after the flight we booked a walking tour and Brown's staff gave us directions, tagged our bags, and sent us on our way to finish check in later. The room was European sized, clean and cozy. We were close to the train to Sintra, central squares, metro and tram lines.
Lovely quirky hotel. Location was brilliant, right in the centre of Lisbon. Staff were excellent and extremely helpful. The girl checking us in gave us advice on places to visit and advice on the restaurants - both of the recommended restaurants had fantastic food and were very reasonably priced. The room was small, but as we only slept there that was fine.
Pillow menu ++. Often find hotel pillows too soft, very happy to have choice. Did not book breakfast but paid for it for a couple of mornings. Best breakfast provided on our trip in Spain and Portugal. Convenient and central, be a really good hotel for anyone with mobility issues as area around is flat ( most of Lisbon isn't.). That said the area is a little less atmospheric than other parts of Lisbon. No complaints, expected small room but it was no issue and staff really nice. Good stay
