I recommend this hotel for those who look for good service and comfort. Stayed on the top floor where there is a wonderful porshe or terrace, pity it was closed in summer nights!!! Not amazing looks of the city as it is in the middle of a busy avenue and the back is not really impressive. Bathroom Ok, but they also should reconsider an upgrade of furnishings; it is getting old though it is obvious it has been renovated; it has a modern look. Breakfast excellent-good varity of hot and cold snacks for breakfast. coffee not very good, though, strange as it may seem in Portugal, but a paying Nespresso was at the side in case you wanted a "different" one.

It would be nice if zero stars were an option here but unfortunately I will have to settle for one star. Let me start of by saying that the staff at this hotel have a lot to learn when it comes to customer service and customer appreciation. It started off with the staff complete lack courtesy and respect, they were short and dismissive. We went three days with no housekeeping service, dirty towels, bathroom, etc. When we did get towels some had holes in them. The room itself room 4011 had carpet with stains, they should really consider renovating rooms and common areas. On our 5th day there we found a dead moth on the grilled tomatoes this is after having served ourselves, when I brought it up to the staff he just dismissed the issue and couldn't be bothered. No apologies or even a hint of acknowledgment. Please head this warning, they say hindsight is 50/50 my mistake is not taking into consideration the warnings from past reviewers. This will go down as one of my worst hotel experience.

I highly recommend this hotel from a recent stay in May, 2017. Staff are very friendly, professional and accommodating from the front desk to the dining room. The breakfast buffet is worth including in your stay but an evening meal was excellent as well. The room was modern and very comfortable and housekeeping kept it spotless. The hotel is about two blocks away from the metro and is easily accessible from the airport. Consider this hotel!

Stayed at the Czar hotel for 4 nights. Had read previous reviews so did ask for a room at the back of hotel. Stayed in room 2011, was quiet, clean, not a bad size. Good dual shower. Had a fridge but didnt feel particularly cold. Breakfast was excellent with good choice of hot and cold food, pastries, 2 juices hot drinks etc Metro was 5 mins walk away, day ticket for metro, tram and bus was six euros. Approx 30 mins walk to the main squares for eating etc. Airport an easy metro ride around 25 mins just one change to hotel or eight euros for taxi. If not booked in for breakfast there is a Subway on the road opposite the hotel and also a great little café. Try the train to Belem as tram can be really overcrowded. We also took train to Estoril beach area, 40 mins approx. 5 euros. Try the food hall in the indoor market opposite the train station. Fantastic choice of food available. Would definitely visit again

This hotel is situated very close to the Metro line in Lisbon and a quick 20 minute walk to the main areas of Lisbon. The room itself was quite dark and small. The window did not open and the carpeted floor definitely needs updating. If you are looking for a place to sleep, it is ok. I still preferred to stay in an AirBnb over this hotel. The service at the front desk was excellent and the staff were all very friendly. It is also close to the Alfama district which is one of the best spots to tour around in the city. If you stay, there is a excellent breakfast/brunch place about a ten minutes walk away called Brick Café that I highly recommend.

We visited as part of a 4 day city break. Hotel is very clean professional and friendly. Rooms are good size, free safe, wi-fi, toiletries. Beds changed every day. The reception staff are excellent, helpful and always positive and smiling. Nothing is too much trouble. We highly recommend this hotel

Last minute booking, after my flight got cancelled. I didn't had the time, or the luxury, to read the reviews of this hotel. But luckily, everything turned out to be just fine! Friendly and helpful staff. I had a clean, spacious room on the 6th floor (room 6011), with a small fridge to store your food/drinks in, a comfortable bed with soft pillows and a clean bathroom with a bathtub (a very welcome surprise, after dealing with the stress of having your flight cancelled!). The hotel is about a 20 minute ride by Uber to/from the airport, and at the time of writing, it will cost you around: €6,00. Alternatively you can also take the metro, of course. The nearest metro stop (green line, stop: Anjos) with one transfer (red line, transfer in Alameda) to the airport is about a 5 minute walk. Or if you prefer to take the direct line to the airport, no transfers, take the red line, stop: Alameda, which is about a 10 minute walk from the hotel. For those of you who are keen on sightseeing and explore this lovely city: the tourists sights are all easily accessible by public transport as well. The only "downside" was, that there was no free coffee/tea in the room. The nespresso machine was there, but you have to ask/pay for the coffee/tea pads/bags.

Really small room, without coffee and tee. Toilet articles of poor quality. Breakfast a bit boring, not much choice. Wifi keeps asking for code. Location okay, only 2 km from down town and close to metro, but would stay gloser to center next time in Lisbon.

This was a second choice Hotel, after I had to change my booking, due to recovering from a broken ankle, so this was always going to be an interesting 4 days with all the cobbles! Hotel Czar is close to the airport, no more than 15 minutes, we used Hoppa at a return cost of £33, I was going to use the Metro, there is a station near to the Hotel, but was still walking with a stick, so decided on Hoppa, and some 10 minutes from the centre of the Old Town, by taxi or approx. 30 minutes walking, downhill there, gentle uphill back. On first impressions the Hotel looked modern, lots of glass to the front, reception staff very friendly and polite, only downside was we had an early flight so arrived at the Hotel at 11.00 am and check in was 15.00. We were given a room overlooking the main road, this was very noisy, and additional glazing should have been built-in, also the road was "Ambulance alley" with blue lights and sirens in regular abundance, the room was nice, reasonably modern, but seriously lacked hanging and drawer space, bathroom was good with an ideal Drench shower. Breakfast was well presented and adequate in a clean modern dining area. Given we only use a Hotel as a base, the Czar ticks all the boxes

Excellent 4 star hotel good location not far from airport or the city centre,Close to Metro.Very good breakfast choice and quality restaurant.Reception staff especially Elsa during the day, very helpful, always smiling with good advice about the town, also the young lady in the evening was excellent.Carlos the restaurant manager is first class, has a good appreciation of food and drinks and adds a happy atmosphere which adds to the fun of the hotel, well assistant by the young man Luis who will become and excellent employee.Good room at rear of hotel on second floor very quite. No tea or coffee making facilities we bought a kettle for 14 Euros. Would highly recommend the hotel due to the staff and the hotel is very clean, we will return to Lisbon which is a magical place and would use the Czar again
