You wouldn't expect anything fancy in this hotel: it looks like the kind of place that is catering to professors and people coming to visit the university in Loughborough as it is located on the campus premises. However, all you get here is really good, making the stay a truly great experience. First of all, the room is truly spacious, which is not usual at all in England (particularly in London). The room was really big, warm, with a decently-sized bathroom. Moreover, the hotel offers a lot of facilities, including swimming pool and gym. The breakfast was also very rich, including the typical English breakfast, but also a generous offering of fruits, appetisers and juices. The only problem is that if you come to visit the town and not for an event or for business at the university, you will be quite far from the town center. Unless you want to walk for some 40 minutes, you will always need a taxi ride every time you want to go downtown. Even so, if I ever come again, I would choose this place for the quality of its services over some worse hotel in the center of the town. Finally, the staff are amazingly nice and obliging, making you feel welcome and comfortable.
Hotel and conference centre in University of Loughborough. Room was spacious, clean and well equipped. Bed comfortable. Downsides: all on two floors so huge distances to walk. Breakfast was chaotic with too few staff or insufficient organisation to manage large numbers of guests. Problems like running out of cereal bowls simply went unnoticed.
As others have said this is a Uni Hotel, and used for conferences etc. I stayed in an ‘executive’ room, which was similar to a ‘travel lodge’ I would say. It was clean and welcoming - The bed was OK, bathroom was fine, although horror of horrors there was a shower curtain that stuck to me ... yuck! The food was excellent for mass catering, I really enjoyed that aspect of it. For an overnight stay in the area this is hard to beat.
Just visited the hotel with my wife and 1 year old, and I have to say the experience was wonderful. The spa facilities were lovely, and the breakfast buffet was one of the best I’ve had in the UK in a while. Whilst the room was fine, and the lounge food was nothing spectacular, the thing that really set the place apart were the staff. On our arrival the gentlemen at the bar brought my son a balloon to tie on his wrist, and the lady serving made of fuss of him repeatedly over the weekend. The evening bar man was extremely knowledgeable about the drinks and gave myself and my friends some tasters before we ordered. Sadly we had to depart a day before we were due because my son was unwell - but the receptionist kindly removed the second day charge even though we didn’t checkout until 4pm. Hats off - was not expecting that and it really lifted our mood!
Bedrooms tiny but clean. Bathroom also tiny with a fixed shower head only suitable if your under 5 foot tall. WiFi good and breakfast was tasty but to reach restaurant from lodge accommodation rooms you have to go from one building to another outside. Bring your coat. Handy if attending university but hotel star rating questionable in my opinion.
I was attending a conference at the University and was given a night at Burleigh Court. The building nestles amongst campus faculties, parking is good and the reception staff very welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was a treat as well.
First room awful smell, next room, key would not work, key problems a lot, ear plugs what's that all about? bed comfortable, good value room. I was on my own, when I lifted the blind at night and in the morning, I could see in students rooms and them in mine, awful, you could not leave blind down for privacy as no light would get in. Long walk back to hotel, door into hotel locked in morning, could not get into Lodge at 10.00 pm, key would not work again! No privacy, long walk with my luggage back and forth with key problems
Burleigh Court hotel is a very nice place. The rooms are charming and for the most part comfortable, but without certain amenities US visitors have perhaps come to expect. (No air conditioning, for instance, which was tough the first two evenings, when temperatures outside were a bit warm and the air a bit humid.) There is no in-room small refrigerator either, so one must run back and forth to the ice machine. So, a bit dated in that regard, but the room was clean, housekeeping was great, the bed was comfortable, and the iron and hair dryer worked. (The hair dryer was installed in a drawer in the desk by the window, a bit odd, certainly not as convenient as having access to it in the bathroom.) Finding this place was VERY difficult, because it does not have a street address (with number) and is not accessible by the car's GPS system. I had to route myself to Burleigh University and then ask around for directions. However, again, the place is well-run and the food in the hotel restaurant was good (great breakfast for 15 GBP), and the conference rooms were comfortable. So, all in all, minus a few luxuries that were definitely missed, this hotel was good.
The reception area is lovely and promises a lot- and overall the restaurant, bar, breakfast and other facilities live up to this. Where I felt a little let down was my particular room. It was small, but adequate. A bit like a Travel lodge room. Also the fixed shower head was a little too low for comfort- and I’m not a tall person. This might, however, be because my room was a Lodge Room - separate from the main building.
This is my second visit to Burleigh Court and l only have good things to report. The rooms are a good size and the staff are extremely accommodating. The food is very good and the grounds have a wonderful feature. We had a few technical incidents and the venue kindly supplied equipment free of charge. They also let us use a room for free to do additional work and that is a big plus in my book.
