Tropicana Las Vegas - a DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel

4.0 out of 5.0

Recent guest reviews

The Tropicana is in a great location on the strip. But, the furniture needs to be changed in the entire hotel. It is very old and torn or chipping. Including in the room

No shampoo s, no soaps, only two towels total, staff was rude. Very surprised with the level of lacking compassion coming from a Hilton product. This hotel was a complete waste of money. Paid $40 resort fee while the pool was shut down due to construction and renovation. I’m very dissatisfied with this hotel. I usually seek out Hilton’s for the quality. Not here. Old hotel and run down.

Hotel was beautiful but only problem was the resort fee! Please be aware of it!

Horrible smell throughout the facility, inckuding the rooms.

beginning with the friendly valet attendants continuing to the front desk registration the welcoming was terrific. The bartenders at the bar were all very Friendly and welcoming to all vacationers. At CHILL'M bar the manager is outstanding. I have forgotten her name but she was very efficient bartending along with whatever her title requires. She was friendly and spoke of all the fun things to do in Las Vegas. She remembered me from EDC and we shared stories...inbetween and including taking orders and fixing perfect drinks. Also Alicia and Brittney were very Friendly and quick with a smile and suggestions to anyone who had questions about the frozen drinks. Prepared expertly! The Prince show was fabulous! Beautiful music and dancing, it looked like all of the group was having a very good time along with remaining very professional in their presentation. I did think the few guys that entertained during breaks were funny. overall a very good show.

Was okay didn't get my full deposit back because of fees

The room was nice and big, all staff were very helpful and pleasant.

I will say that some of the hotel staff was great, friendly and helpful, but others were awful. The ladies at Starbucks were super rude, bartender the second night was rude, and on check out the woman at the front was rude to us. On the flip side, some of the staff in those same locations were really nice! Our rooms were very clean, fairly comfortable. We were there for an event and not really there to gamble and go to shows, so the in-room amenities weren't too much. But the reason I wouldn't recommend it, is if you are there for good eats and shows you are at the end of the strip, the food at the buffet was pretty awful. Ice cream was partially frozen from the machine, pasta station was awful, bread was hard. I don't want to bash this place, my room was comfortable and clean, but I wouldn't choose here again.

This seems to be an underrated hotel. They have better rooms than a lot of hotels (Monte Carlo, Luxor, Circus Circus, Excalibur, etc.) on the strip that charge a lot more. Also, MGM Grand is right beside it which houses restaurants like Morimoto's and Joel Robuchon.

The hotel is a no-thrills hotel near one end of the strip. They have limited free parking, so if you have a car you will want to make sure you are back before the lot fills up. Inside is a bit depressing but they do have a Starbucks, a medium price beer house, and an overpriced lounge. The front desk people are great (A+!) and so are the rewards people. The cleaning staff are friendly enough, but it seems management has their hands tied on a few things (only hotel I've stayed at where they limit you to one bottle of water your entire stay and no tissues when you run out. I know the water thing is in the small print, but kleenex? Really?). It is a quiet hotel for the location, which was a nice surprise. The ac functioned mostly on voodoo and prayer, but that isn't too unusual for some of the older hotels. There were cracks in the bathroom and the rug has seen better days. The bed spread had a black mark on it. However, most of the room was clean. The outlets were falling apart and it took a few attempts to plug my charger in and at least one outlet was completely dead (not a switch, I mean the darn thing was falling off). The view was ok. It was of the airport so you could see some landscape and a few planes. Not too bad, really. Check in and Check out were a breeze. The rest was a bit 'meh'. If I had to, I would stay here again--but only if I had to.

Close to strip but old and dirty. Poor insulation. Noisy air condition

Upon arrival the desk girl tried to convince me to upgrade to the paradise tower. I refused to pay any extra and she wouldn’t give me a complimentary upgrade. It was a bit of a walk to the club tower which I didn’t mind. The room was very nice and clean. The pool was closed for the season. There’s free parking which is great. I like that it’s a small casino and easy to find your way around. I will definitely stay there again.

Stay was good. Got a free room upgrade. Upgraded room comes with keuring coffee maker.

Comfortable, clean and satisfied with the room and staff.

Staff was wonderful.New Robert Irvine Pub was great! View was beautiful.Buffet wasn't so good.

We like the location and all staff very nice..would definitely recommend and stay there again..

welcoming, fast and friendly staff go over the way to make a great experience

The floor and room smelled overwhelming of menthol cleaning product. The bathroom floor and walls in the room were filthy. No refrigerator or coffee pot.

The hotel felt a little outdated .... but it was still nice. My issues came when I noticed burn holes on my linens. Secondly when we were waiting for our shuttle at the front entrance, to go back to the airport, we were verbally accosted because we would not let this man use our cell phones (who said he was not a guest of the Tropicana). Where was security???

Went out to gamble came back to room 3pm room was not cleaned called for cleaning twice came finally bout 5pm came but we had dinner and show reservations 6pm getting ready when finally came so didn't clean at all asked for clean towels twice When i reported to girl front desk response was ah! That it. Never stsy again

Thank you, Victoria, for your review of the Tropicana. We, along with many properties on the strip, do charge a resort fee. This is meant to include our most widely requested amenities. While the room rate only includes the room. We do apologize if this was not more clearly conveyed. We hope to welcome you back soon.
