My wife and I chose to block rooms for our wedding guests and the groomsmen at the Towneplace Suites Las Cruces. We worked directly with Ana, the general manager, and both Ana and her staff truly went above and beyond to make sure our wedding week went as smoothly as possible. Fantastic customer service!
Nice, clean well maintained. The sofa coach is not so comfy. I love the amenities-breakfast ok. I recommend a trip to Cracker Barrel. I like the mobile check in and request we're ready when we arrived. We arrived early in the morning due to flight delays. I was hoping for some discount but there was fresh coffee.
The long-term stay hotel comes equipped with a kitchenette, desk, and comfortable bedding and clean bathroom. Outdoor amenities include a swimming pool with a grill area. Guests are invited to bring their own food and BBQ by the poolside. Plenty of outdoor chairs in a covered area make this quite enjoyable. Breakfast is standard as hotels go these days, with standard pre-made eggs and sausage, yogurt, cereal, and a waffle-maker. Only downside was that I wished the lighting in the room was a bit better.
Quiet. Spacious room. Comfortable bed with lots of pillows. Lots of storage space. Mini kitchen. Good breakfast, nice variety, better than the usual fare. Not much around the hotel but if you venture a bit further, lots of shopping and restaurants.
Loved this location! The room was great, so clean I thought it was brand new. My only (minor) complaints were the bathroom nightlight that you can't shut off, the lack of TV and DVD remotes and the fact that the carpet was just cleaned and still wet. Things I would have asked to switch rooms for but since I was there for such a short time, I just went with it. The pet fee can't be beat!
We stayed three nights at the Townplace Suites and had a very nice stay. The staff was friendly and the free breakfast was quite good, similar to other Marriott properties. Location was close to I-25 and easy to get around town. There are biking/running trails starting across the street from the hotel, also.
We stopped here as part of our route moving back to the west coast and really just needed a place to rest and eat breakfast. The location is right off the freeway so its really convenient and the parking lot was large and easy to navigate with our moving truck. The breakfast the next morning was really good too! I also appreciated that the pet fee was only $10 whereas other places along our route were $100+.
I’ve stayed in quite a few Towneplace Suites (lifetime platinum with Marriott) and am familiar with the brand but the room we had here was probably close to the smallest ever. We had a queen bedded room with a large recliner squeezed in along side of the bed. The room had a love seat immediately across from the bed on the opposite wall and a chair at the desk so I’m not certain why they bothered with the recliner (perhaps it is a new brand standard?). The room had a very small (27”?) TV on a small stand that was visible from the sofa but not so much from the easy chair. Internet was subpar. I was fortunate enough to get their enhanced high speed internet as a free amenity (cost otherwise is $5). The enhanced internet delivered 1.5 MBpm which is much lower than what I get for free at the majority of the places I stay. If you need a faster internet speed to get work done I do not recommend this hotel. The internet was fine for email and web browsing though. Our room stayed too warm all night - I didn’t want to run the AC because it was in the 20s F at night. The temperature in the room was set at 74° when we checked in and I lowered it to 68° but the room didn’t cool down. I finally just turned the unit off - in the morning the temperature had dropped one meager degree to 73°. Either some other source of heat is entering the room or this place is mega, mega insulated. I found out later the windows actually open - wish I’d checked that out as I could have cooled that room off really quickly!! The bathroom had an obnoxious night light which was about 6” x 6” on the bathroom ceiling. It is actually the vent light that is bright when the switch is on and low when the switch is off. The low setting gives the room a glow that was brighter than a normal night light (simply due to its size). We made sure to keep the bath door closed. Breakfast was typical for the brand - they had those fried egg discs that I see often and hot oatmeal. The OJ was very good. They also had a lot of cereal and granola bars available.
I want to give this hotel a better rating but just can't do it because of the circumstance. I'm Platinum with Marriott which only means I've stayed at plenty of Marriotts and expect a certain level of comfort, regardless of the property. Our stay here was not up to Marriott standards. When we arrived, check in process was okay but not overly friendly. They had only one computer working with a busy lobby so front desk staff seemed frazzled, which obviously affected their attitude toward greeting people. The issue was when we checked into our room (205). There was a card taped over our thermostat from maintenance saying the thermostat was broken and to use the controls under the window unit. Seemed strange but we didn't question it at the time (our mistake). We cranked on the air and went to dinner. When we came back, the room was still a little warm so we turned the unit lower. We just wanted sleep since we had been driving 10 hours. Two hours later we woke up and the room was stifling. We cranked the unit down and got some air but, after an hour, we woke up again to a sweltering room. This went on all night. We kept trying to catch some sleep because we still had 8 more hours of driving but the room remained an oven most of the night. When we checked out the next morning, I took the card off the thermostat and brought it to the front desk. She was very surprised to see the note and said there was no record in the computer of issues in that room. She apologized and said she would talk to maintenance. Ok, I want to like this hotel. It was spotlessly clean and easy access off the highway, which is probably why we will try it one more time. However, the hotel was only about 20-25% full. Why was this room even rented? I blame the hotel for terrible internal communication which caused us to have a miserable night. You can read any of my other reviews and you will see I typically do not give poor reviews, especially to a Marriott property. I hope this review will help this hotel to get its act together. We definitely want to use it since we make the drive from AZ to CO often but will be very careful the next time we try it. If you do decide to stay at this property, check the room before you settle in. Make sure everything is in working order and ask for a different room if maintenance has left any warning note.
Great hotel. Room was very accommodating. Clean & well maintained. Quiet & not much noise at all. Nice workout area. Easy to get to with eating places around. Staff was very friendly. Parking was easy with the u-haul that we were driving.
