We booked this Marriott-owned property with hopes that we'd have a more American-style hotel for a couple nights of our vacation, and were disappointed. Similar to other negative reviews here, we experienced the same concerns with sterile/dark/depressing decor, unreasonably loud people outside our door, and difficulties finding the entrance when walking from the nearby bus/train stations. Perhaps worst, we were told that breakfast ended at 11 am, but it actually shuts down promptly at 10 am; when we showed up at literally 10:01 am, the incredibly rude workers in the dining room literally blocked us (!!!) from grabbing any food from the buffet, which was included in our room rate. Clearly they were in a hurry to clear the buffet (so they could take a break perhaps?) and had no intention of providing us an iota of customer service; indeed, they actively made sure we didn't get a single bread crumb - who acts like this in the hospitality industry? After explaining the situation to the front desk, a very sweet manager (Cristina?) marched upstairs to the kitchen and assembled for us an incredible spread of eggs, breads, jellies and cheeses, plus espresso. Some positive points include the fact the hotel is so close to public transportation and is easily walkable to a nice little restaurant and shopping street. The decent gym had a large supply of cold bottled water, and the rooms seemed very clean. And as with the rest of Oviedo, the hotel is relatively inexpensive.
Giving this 4 stars as an AC hotel, not as a real Marriott, as it is their cheaper line in Spain. 1 min from the Oviedo train station and the entrance to the city centre, 15 mins walk to the Cathedral and good restaurants, so it is really well connected. Try not to use the car when in town as it is a nightmare. Car park in the hotel is somewhat pricey but convenient. I didn´t have breakfast in the hotel and preferred a little cafeteria in the centre instead. No tea/coffee/ironing facilities in the room. Comfortable bed, good bathroom with varying water pressure, better sound proofing than in other AC hotels. Mercadona supermarket next door, very convenient! Will go again.
We stayed here only one night and found the AC Oviedo Forum to be a modern hotel. It was well kept and clean. Our room was spacious and comfortable. Good beds but no safe. Wifi was good. The breakfast was ok. Like our other hotel stays on this trip the front desk made change from larger Euros without a problem. We appreciated that.
We stayed at this hotel for 1 night on a recent tour through Northern Spain. Really nice hotel. The rooms were very big for European standards, The bathroom was green marble and a nice size also. Just what you would expect from a Marriott Hotel. We found the grocery store right next door to be convenient for water and snacks. This hotel is located over top of the train station. Very convenient for those traveling by train, Very nice breakfast.
Hotel is locate right in the center of town. We came on the day they have folk festival on the town square which prevented us from getting close to the hotel. I can see train track from the hotel. So far I have not heard the noise of trains. We are having trouble finding a safe in the room which means we have to carry extra stuff while walking around town. A supermarket is located right next door. The decor is a little dull and the TV channels are somewhat limited for North American visitors.
Loved the location for it was very close to both the train and bus stations so was within walking distance. About a 10-15 minute walk to the old town, but close to many good restaurants. Had a small, but decent fitness center, staff are friendly and the rooms are really clean with great views of the city!! Highly recommend and would stay here again.
This is a true 4-star hotel except for very poor AC. First clue was that hotel front door was open for ventilation. The lobby was humid and muggy. Room was warm and stuffy. AC seemed not to be working. Employee came to room and said that AC was on but "not hard." She said that all rooms were the same. Nothing could be done. Very uncomfortable. Never again!
Location - very convenient! Walking distance to the old town, shops, park, historical places, food and dinner restaurants. Hotel lobby- Spacious and clean. Hotel room - spacious and clean with mini refrigerator and coffee/tea machine, supplies Cafeteria - Very spacious. Good food selection for breakfast. Fresh fruits were included. Service - very good A decent size of 2 stories supermarket right next to the hotel so very convenient! A BIG THANKS to BEATRIZ PENDA from the Hotel front desk for her sincere suggestion with good tour places while I was in the area for 4 days. Remember readers, you can Google all you want but organizing as many places to visit and # days were difficult. Thanks her I was very happy and visited all the major sites, hikes, food, parks etc. A Big Hug!
Front desk was very pleasant, helpful, spoke English. Room was fantastic, I booked a junior suite it was very clean, spacious had a nespresso machine (my favorite part) service was just overall great, price was great, location was close to most things and i had no complaints.
This is a very well located hotel where you will enjoy all sort of local amenities. These are just a stone's throw from the AC Forum. Besides, the rooms are spotless and display a high-standard lay-out. The staff is very friendly and will help you at all times.
