Recently stayed here on our way to biarritz. For me the biggest plus point about this hotel is that it wasn't to far to walk to the beach and shops. There are also a few nice restaraunts close by. The hotel itself is tired. The rooms desperately need updating and the hotel cleaner could do with a kick up the backside, as on arrival to our room there was a dirty cup left on the floor, and the waste bin hadn't been emptied. There is also no car parking available at this hotel. So you have to pay by the meter to park on the kerbside (a task you will have to undertake every three hours) or alternatively use the indigo underground parking. A 15 minute walk away and at the cost of nearly 30 euros for the night.
Very friendly staff who speak good English which was a big plus for me who barely speaks French. I stayed on the second floor facing the back of the hotel, it was quiet, comfortable and clean. the hotel is about a 3 min walk to the beach and marina, at one end of the beach. It's about a 10-15min stroll down to the jetty's and the centre of town. There a couple of really nice restaurants really close by if you don't fancy the walk too. I was really happy with my choice of hotel and would highly recommend to others.
If your not looking for a fancy, newly built hotel but rather have a great location for a cheap price this will do just find. Our room was a decent size and included A/C which is not always for granted in Europe and the location 2 min walk from the beach makes this place a winner for us as long as you know what you are getting into.
A very good location of the hotel. We spent there two nights. Very quiet. Nothing luxury about his hotel but if you are budget traveller and want a good location - this hotel is spot on. The beach is almost next door. Bathroom needs more ventilation because you can smell dump.
We stayed here during the UEFA football championship and travelled by train for the match in Bordeaux. The hotel was clean and tidy and met our requirements perfectly. We had to set out early so did not sample breakfast. Railway station located about 20 minute walk from hotel.
Good location. Short walk circa 15 mins to centre of town and rail station. Roads very narrow so no service buses pass by - just courtesy bus (limited stops) from station and city tour minibus. Lots of places to eat nearby including an Asian fusion option. We however ate THREE times across the road at Chez Balthazar over the week we were there which is very unusual for us, but the pizzas were so good and late service we just kept returning. Rooms were OK and cleaners did a great job but the bathrooms really do need an upgrade asap. Bath gets slippy underfoot when using shower so make sure you have a mat in place for safety. Shower curtains worn and marked with age but not unhygienic, just not very pleasing to the eye. Breakfast generally good - hot drink machine variable but hot chocolate option OK. Really all comes down to price. We got a good deal with breakfast included but would have been unhappy to have paid any more and would not particularly recommend it to friends. Ask for a rear balcony room - quiet away from road. Our rear room overlooked an empty carpark - perhaps there is a charge levied? We took the train but a car would have been worthwhile to visit local area. Staff were all very helpful and seemed to work hard across all the duties.
This hotel is situated past the end of the boardwalk (one street inward which means no ocean view). Positives: 1) The area has a couple nice restaurants (Pizzeria, seafood, etc), which were all full near sundown. 2) The hotel is located on a street behind the end of the boardwalk, which is nice abd quiet if you get the back room (i.e. not facing the street). 3) The service was nice and friendly, no complaints. 4) There was a fridge in the room. 5) Free Wifi and easy to connect without password/Login details. Negatives: 1) The hotel looks run down and worn out. It needs a lot of work to freshen it up! 2) The condition of the room was also ragged with torn wallpaper, scratches, scuff marks, rust on the radiators, mold in the bathroom etc. 3) No creamers for the coffee although there was a fridge in the room. 4) The walls are VERY thin so if you have a baby next door then invest in ear plugs! 5) There's quite a distance to the more lively areas (pro & con) 6) The hair dryer (for my wife) was useless because it barely blows any air! 7) Overpriced for a comparable hotel. All in all, we would not come back to this hotel as the condition of the room, although clean, made you feel that it was still dirty. The bathroom had mold in the shower, which was an immediate turn-off. We certainly felt that the price of this hotel was too high for its condition and location.
A clean 3 star hotel, staff helpful, rooms basic with mini bar(fridge) kettle for coffee and tea, shower or bath, television Continental style breakfast available in mornings. Short walk from harbour and beach and about 1 mile from main town and better selection of restaurants. Excellent bakers about 10 minutes walk away, Excellent Italian (Chez Balthazar) other nearby restaurants of poorer quality Parking awkward but usually spaces in street or smaller car park next to harbour
This Hotel is in a great location, has great free wifi, free parking outside, provides an excellent buffet breakfast and the staff are friendly and helpful. However despite our room being a non smoking room it stunk of stale cigarettes. The room has a balcony which would otherwise be a plus but smoking is permitted on the balcony as ash trays are provided and the curtains are heavily impregnated with stale tobacco. This Hotel would otherwise have recived a good rating. The price at €64 for a double with en-suite and breakfast at €11 is good value. The port and plage is less than a 5 minute walk. Check out your room before staying.
We have just spent a week in this hotel and return home happy with our experience. It is well located and offers good value, clean accommodation. The bathroom is more than adequate, the beds are comfortable and having somewhere to sit outside in the hot weather on a small balcony was appreciated. On the first day, we ate breakfast in the hotel, but didn't do so thereafter. The only reason for this was that, for us, a short walk to buy 90c croissants from the nearby festival bakery suited us better. The hotel has key code entry between 2200 and around 0800, which isn't a problem and there is plenty of information on the local area available in the reception area. Convenient for a walk to the beach or along it into town, the hotel is good value. We didn't require much assistance from the staff, but the rooms were well cleaned during our absence and the staff were always welcoming and polite. Due to having a treat of a stay in Bordeaux for our last night, we checked out a day early. This was no reflection on the hotel, however, one I would happily use again and recommend for those wanting a clean, decent and well located room in Arcachon.
