Quite place, love the peacefulness during slow season. We had great time.
Great Family getaway!! Lots of kids activities. They accommodated us for late check out. The staff was very friendly.
We loved the location of our room (iron house lodge south). The one br condo was big enough for our family of four and had a nicely equipped kitchen and very nice bathroom. The bedroom's tv should be updated (not hd). The living room tv was very nice, with hbo and dvr. The king bed in the bedroom was very nice and comfortable. The pullout couch bed was not that comfortable though. Washer/dryer in the room was useful. The hot tub was nice and much needed after long days of skiing. underground parking was super convenient and can be used the day of the stay before checking in (I wish I knew that) and the whole day the same day as checkout. I'm looking forward to another stay in the village.
This hotel is very well situated for the winter. It is in the center of town and close to the lifts. We were surprised by the emptiness of the town in the summer. Our frustration with the hotel stems from a few things. First, the key card reader going from the garage to the elevator was not working. We had to get new key cards a few times to get into the hotel. Second, they were having problems with one of the garage doors, so they blocked it off. Glad they have two entrances into the hotel. Third, we woke up on a Tuesday to find out that there was no breakfast available anywhere in town. The one cafe that sells breakfast is closed on Tuesdays.
Amazing location. Lots of kid friendly activities.
We love this place -staff is attentive, amenities are great, and location is unbeatable. Not an inexpensive option- but a good value for the money.
We had a great stay in 2-bedroom suite in Iron Horse Lodge. Everything first rate. The village is nice and we enjoy the pool and restaurants. We took the gondola up the mountain. Unfortunately there is thunderstorm warning and they shut down the gondola so we had to walk our way down. It was a tough hike down for my 2 little ones. I thought they could run the gondola for people going downhill and just stop the people going uphill but they shut down everything even though it was just a potential thunderstorm nearby and we hiked down under perfect weather.
We had a wonderful condo right above the gondola- perfect ski in and out very convenient- lots of fun for the kids- lots of things going on in the village to help celebrate the new year!
Big, clean, lovely. I would recommend this place to anyone
We visited between ski season and summer mountain biking. Most the time we had the place to ourselves. It was quiet, luxurious, and amazingly clean, with cars tucked away underground. I only wish the check in and check out were earlier and later respectively. Even off season there was at least one restaurant open during reasonable hours. We found both service and food excellent but pricey. Kitchens were well supplied for bringing your own groceries and snacks.
Well equipped and comfortable condo. Convenience is key here with everything you need at the door, a minute's walk to restaurant or deli, kid's activities, lift, ski pass office, ski rental. Friendly staff on and off mountain.
Rooms were nice but smaller then they look on the web site, staff was helpful although daily cleaners didn't do such a great job. Resort is expensive; restaurants and shops are very pricey and also add a 2% "resort fee" to each bill. Mixed hot drinks at one bar near base of mountain were very expensive($18.95 plus CA sales tax, tip and 2% resort fee), so make sure to ask prices before you order! Lift tickets were also expensive, all other prices were similarly high, so be prepared to shell out a lot of extra cash once you arrive. Snow here is better then Squaw, but isn't as visually impressive as Squaw Valley is.
Wonderful resort, great location...but if you don't have a car to get around you are out of luck to check out other ski resorts in the area and to even get to the grocery store. Poor transportation options to do these things. Otherwise it makes a wonderful winter destination!
Came for a 5-day summer family vacation. Stayed in a beautiful and large two bedroom condo on top floor will cathedral ceilings. Large dining room table, fire-place, couch and two chairs in living room. Large, well-outfitted kitchen with high-end appliances, granite counter tops, etc... Located directly in village. Underground parking was very convenient. Luggage carts conveniently provided by garage elevator, so no need to bell hop. In terms of entertainment, there is direct access to great hiking and mountain biking trails. Also lots of activities in the village for families like "life-size" chess and checkers, horse shoes, roller skating rink, complimentary outdoor movie nights. We ate most of our meals in the condo (including the trout we caught on an afternoon fishing expedition), but the village had lots of restaurant choices and life music at night. Also lots of shops. There is horse-backing riding on site, but we heard that alpine meadows was better, so we reserved a two-horse horse-back ride with our two kids one morning. About a 15 minute drive to King's beach in Lake Tahoe.

Hello- we are not a hotel, but a resort set in a ski Village that is run by Vail Resorts, not Tahoe Mountain Lodging. We are happy to pass along your feedback about a lack of open restaurants to the Vail team & do apologize for the inconvenience you experienced with the key reader. If you put keys near your cell phone they can get de-activated.
