Booked the hotel for a short visit to the Garda Lake. The hotel is a great new hotel on the west side of the lake. The hotel is modern, very clean and well designed. The pool is beautiful and the view over the lake is amazing. There is not a big beach, but you have lounge chairs and cabanas on the lawn of the hotel with direct access to the lake. Breakfast is great and service is friendly and good. The restaurant Il Rivale is worth the visit for dinner, with great local cuisine. All in all can highly recommend, especially if travelling with kids and/or dogs.

Excellent hotel. Food , breakfast and dinner are out of this world. The hotel keeps very high standards on everything: service, cleanness, atmosphere, view... There was nothing we have asked which was not applied immediately. Very highly recommended!!!

We had a perfect stay in every way! Verena from the front office was also very kind and helped us out with a little misunderstanding so that we had a wonderful stay! Super polite and helpful. Well done!

My wife and I stayed here 8 nights in July and enjoyed a fantasic stay. The hotel rooms and grounds etc are immaculately presented and the location on lake edge is phenomenal. We stayed in a Junior Suite with Garden View, the room was very spacious and newyly refurbished to the highest standard. There was no kettle or in the room, so no in-room tea/coffee facility, and there was no iron/ironing board available from reception Breakfast was included which was buffet style with very good selection, and made to order egg dishes such as omelette, eggs benedict etc. Reception and Waiting Staff were very professional and attentive, and the housekeeping was excellent. Drinks and meals at the hotel are a bit pricy, made worse by UK/Euro exchange rate(£1=€1.10). There are neighbouring restraunts offering good food at reasonable prices so we ate out most nights. When we stayed there was no Hotel shuttle service to Desenzano (2.5m away) so it was either a local bus (the local bus service is infrequent an we found them unreliable) or taxis. In the end we hired a car for a few days which enabled us to explore other towns around the lake. I understand the Hotel is very recently ropened and are working on improvements including a putting on Shuttle Bus Service, kettle in rooms and availability of iron/ironing board.

Spent 4 nights here and was incredible well taken care of by extremely service minded and nice crew. Everyone: concierge, restaurant staff, pool service, breakfast and cleaning was very professional and responsive. The Ristorante Il Rivale on the premise is very much worth a visit!

We had a hard time finding a reasonably priced but still modern looking property. So we decided to book spontaneously which was when we stumbled across Splendido Bay. We did not find much information on the internet but we soon figured out, that the hotel just recently reopened after an extensive refurbishment. Still it is more than odd, that the hotel has no website or at least not one that displays any useful info. In today’s day and age that seems like a must and it made us more than a little skeptical. Hotels.com offered many different rooms some of which were much cheaper and labeled as apartments. Since the hotel was not fully booked we just decided to book the least expensive category, which was lime apartment. When we arrived at the property, no one was there to assist us with our luggage which is always a bad sign but especially bad at hotels that lable themselves 5*. We were then informed; that the room category we booked is currently being refurbished and thus it is significantly cheaper than the regular rooms. We then decided to upgrade for 60 euro per night, which seemed reasonable. The room we got was a standard room in the main building facing the lake. All the rooms are ground floor rooms there is no second floor. The room itself is small. It features a queen bed with nice linens, a pretty big Samsung TV, some closet space a minibar and a safe. The closet situation is not well thought out though. When you have your safe open, you cannot close the closet without scratching the doors. The bathroom is nice however again the toilet is not positioned well. You need to close the bathroom door completely in order to be able to sit down. The shower is big and has a nice rain showerhead which I always like but could be cleaned better. Also the room lacks any information about the hotel. No brochure whatsoever. So we did not know when and where to get breakfast or spa prices, restaurant menus etc.. Also one time housekeeping was probably cleaning the toilet and whilst doing and when we got back to our room the flushing was constantly running, my guess is, that the housekeeper did not know how to turn it off and was to lazy to call for help and decided to just let it run. Breakfast is always included in the room rate it seems and the selection is decent. It is not a big spread by any means but the quality is good and you can order fresh egg’s etc. from the menu. If there are more than 10 people eating at the same times though, service gets slow and they tend to forget half of your order. This brings me to the service in general. From not being met or assisted with our bags when arriving, to having to ask for towels at the pool and then wait for them for at least 10 minutes, service in short was just not cutting it. There were two exceptions, our waiter at the hotel restaurant in the evening as well as the barkeeper. They were nice and attentive. Dinner at the hotel restaurant was very good and we did not even eat at their fancy restaurant (Il Rivale) which is also located on site. In addition, the wine prices are insanely “cheap” they have a very small markup compared to other restaurants/bars (on average around 20-30%). We arrived on Sunday and the hotel seems to turn into a beach/country club for the affluent natives or weekend visitors. The pool area is packed with your stereotype Italian gigolos with their model girlfriends, which is a funny site but not ideal for a relaxing holiday. Therefore, if you want quiet, I suggest you visit during the week. The pool and the property in general are very scenic, the sun loungers are new and comfy, unfortunately the service let’s this experience down as well. You should be given free water imo especially during the summer months and there should be menus (they do not have a pool menu yet) and waiters actively walking around and asking if you would like anything. I found myself getting up and going to the bar myself because no one seemed to care. So to conclude. The property itself has high potential from a location as well as hard product standpoint. However, they have a long way to go in the service department. So if you book this property be sure to bring loads of patience. Again, I just cannot believe that one would relaunch a hotel without having a proper website. It is not like we are still in the 90’s. But then again there should also be brochures, menus etc. which are also not available. So Splendido, you have your work cut out, take advantage of your location and hire some seasoned staff.
