I stayed April 22 and 23, 2019 in unit C1 and it was amazing! I was staying to get some rest and relaxation before a big project and really loved the quietness of the place. I walked along the private beach and saw huge turtles and then laid out on the lawn chairs to watch the water. I had just missed whale season but I will come back again because I loved the place. My unit was clean and newly renovated with AC which I needed in April because it was so hot and sunny. The best part for sure were the lanais facing the gardens and the ocean. I would sit outside and watch the sunset with a bottle of wine. It was such a restful getaway, the perfect place to enjoy maui.
This is our 4th stay here. As always I love how easy it is with groceries, parking, beach access etc. We stayed in F11 which was updated, had air and was decently stocked. The water was more choppy than usual so we didn't get to enjoy the snorkeling as much but the few times we did go out it was amazing. The beach is small and I worry it will continue to get smaller. Also we have always stayed in A building. I like the privacy and quietness of the A building. F was nice b/c we had a paddle board and it made it easy to get it to the ocean but there was definitely more noise and people by our building. Overall a wonderful stay.
We stayed in Unit A3. We also stayed in this same unit 3 years ago. At that time I dealt with the actual owner for renting the unit not a rental agency. At that time he explained that this unit has had little updating as he had recently purchased it. With that being, he charged $!00 less a night then the surrounding updated units. Three years ago it was just an ok unit. I really thought the owner would have done another project or three. Sadly this time it was less then ok. Sadly nothing had been done to continue updating the unit. Things like fixtures, flooring, appliance, kitchen supplies showed a lot of wear. I actually think the black duct tape on a couple living room vinyl tile squares was there 3 years ago. Apparently the tile adhesive must be loose. It is still renting for $100 less a night then the surrounding updated units and I feel it should be discounted even more due to it's run down everything and no air conditioning. It's a great location but we won't stay in this unit again unless it is updated and air conditioning added. We stayed at Kahana Sunset in building A in 2006 and in 2009. This was before any units were updated and we liked the location of this building of units. At that time the interiors were in good shape. The overall complex is GREAT with a beach, outdoor pool, grills and the rocky area that sea turtles love to feed in. It's nice for snorkeling and playing on the beach. I would recommend the A building and any of the updated units. In 2016 we came with friends that stayed in an updated A unit and it was wonderful. At that time we had one couple that wanted to save money so we went with A3 for them. this time we decided to save a little money but it wasn't worth it. We wish we had payed the extra $100 a night. We will be back! Just not to Unit A3.
This complex is located right on the water. Direct access to a nice small beach. @ outdoor grills that are cleaned each morning. We had an ocean front unit in Building F. Our patio was literally the bulkhead. Building A is also waterfront with grass out front, then a fence with a drop off to ocean of about 20 feet. Can watch large turtles swimming about. I will say that our unit was very run down and would not rent it again. I will stay there again because the direct ocean access can't be beat. You can rent through the property direct, property management companies or VRBO.
We stayed in A3 on the water the rate was 440 a night the place is ran down and said it slept six but only had enough beds for four also not up kept we heard from locals it's the local dive of the units and the owner hasn't taken any pride in it
We stayed at Kahana Sunset B8 January 2019. Great clean remodeled condo with fantastic view but no Air conditioning. Only the first night was too hot but with doors and window open and fans we were able to cool the place. Nice large patios overlooking the bay. Sullivan Properties was a great team to help plan our Maui vacation. They had many options and price ranges. Steve was very helpful finding us an ocean view condo at a more affordable price and he was very accommodating when we had to change dates do to airline changes. They made late night arrival access easy and the place was great. Kelly was also helpful and informative during our stay. This was our third trip to Maui and we preferred the condo rental over hotel rooms. We recommend Sullivan properties ( mauiresorts.com ) if you are visiting Maui
I booked unit D9 via Booking.com (which I have no affiliation with) and I am so glad I did. The whole condo community felt like a home away from home. The common area was very well kept, the maintenance crew was very helpful, free home grown bananas and herbs they share with guests and we saw sea turtles at their small but fun beach! During our snorkeling, we encountered sea turtles many times. Our kids were so excited for the experience as it was their first time snorkeling in their lives. Our unit had pretty much everything we needed (no oven though). Our unit had one power room downstairs and two bathrooms upstairs. Our kids enjoyed separate beds in the second bedroom. It’s a bit dated but decorated nicely to have a homey feeling with Hawaiian touch. WiFi worked great and key code lock system made check-in and check-out process easy. It’s a quick drive away from our favorite pub, Maui Brewing Co. for great beers and Hawaiian pub food. One thing I noticed was that on a few days when it kept raining around the condo, a quick drive down south just past Kaanapali let us escape from the rain. We’d love to come back here for more encounters with sea turtles!
Stayed here 11/9-11/19. We stayed in A8, oceanfront. Gorgeous views. Property is very well maintained. A few things that need attention: maid service is VERY stingy with any and all towels. Silly when we're paying $414 a night. Pictures that were posted only show the one master bedroom, it was a total surprise to see the second bedroom and bath in 1970's style. TV in our room did not work, wireless router had to be reset several times. Website said they have free boogie boards to use, I asked at the office, they said no, they don't have them. I ended up finding them underneath the stairs by the library & hang out area. Outdoor grills here are really nice and kept very clean. They charge $25 addition all day to turn AC on for you. Next time we will pay extra for that (although, again, at $414 pn, we should not have to pay for AC. Overall a wonderful time here. Close to Lahaina and Kaanapali.
Our stay in building B was perfect. We had a beautiful view from our lanai. We fell asleep to the sound of the ocean waves each night. The beach is small but private. The entry for swimming has a sandy bottom, nice for bare feet. The snorkling is the best around when the surf is quiet. The turtles are always there. The common patio area is set up perfectly for viewing the turtles from above or watching the whales go by. We saw one spout off on October 31, which is not officially whale season. The condos are in a residential area so it is very quiet. The grocery store is less than 1 mile away with non-resort prices. The gate is locked at night. We felt very safe. The gardens are fabulous. So many plants. I would like to see them labeled. The herb garden is labeled and available for anyone to use. Lahaina is a quick drive down the road. Everything is easy to get to. I highly recommend paying the extra $25.00 per day for air conditioning. I'm already planning our next stay!
positives: parking right outside condo door...grocery shopping and storing made easy. AC works well. Beds are comfy. Pool is very clean and partly shaded. negatives: both bathrooms are upstairs...great if one needs stair exercise. Not so great for those with knee issues. Additional stairs to pool...lots of stairs on this property. Beach is quite small but lovely.
