We really enjoyed our stay here. The new pool area is really nice but we still favor the cabana and being right on the water. It's a quick walk to Whaler's Village and a short drive to Lahaina. We like being able to have the kitchen and washer and dryer in a condo instead of feeling cramped in a hotel room. Just a thought if you have leftover unopened drinks - we gave the staff our remaining unopened bottles of water, they were very appreciative. They deserve it, they all work so hard to keep things running well here.
My wife and I stayed here on our honeymoon and words really can’t describe how beautiful the resort was. From the friendly staff to the cleanliness of the room and resort grounds we loved our stay here at the Eldorado. A special mention needs to be made to the concierge Kai, she really made our honeymoon with all her advice on tours, adventures, where to go and where to eat, she even used her connections to get us places that we would never have been able to go due to popularity. I have given this hotel a 5 star rating but if I could I would give Kai a 10 star rating cause she was just outstanding!!! Thank you Kai for making our honeymoon that little bit extra special and thank you Maui Eldorado. We will definitely be back!! I highly recommend this resort if you like somewhere quiet to stay but still in walking distance to all the best restaurants and bars!!
When planning our 2nd trip to Maui in 10 years, it was a given that we were heading back to the el dorado. Booked our condo (I103) on VRBO. Well stocked and clean, we were very pleased with our choice. Great location and beach with private cabana, friendly staff. This place is hard to beat.
I rented a condo privately through homeaway.com. This hotel chain has only condos, some of which are owned by the hotel group and others that have other owners that rentt them privately. No housekeeping but the condo I stayed in had all amenities. I didn't use the pool area. Did visit the cabana on the beach which was really nice and had all very nice people visiting. Beach is wonderful with a coral reef a 10 min walk down the beach. I listened to their sales pitch by concierge. They offer "free drawings" which is actually buy one get one free. Also, the concierge told us she had a "deal" for the helicopter ride with an extra feature of an extra landing and champagne which was a lie as it was part of the tour (weather permitting). My advice: look online for better deals. Yes they work hard for their money but they did tell us lies. The concierge even gave us advice to go on the part of the island that was restricted when driving in rental car, which we were. Also, I needed the hotel to help me out with a favor in getting fins back to the snorkel store across the street. Neither the front desk or concierge were even a little helpful in assisting with this when my flight took off early in the morning. I had to call the shop who was super accommodating. Pretty sad when I dropped over $700 in exercisions the day before. None the less, grounds are beautiful and right on golf course. There are a few restaurants within walking distance.
The grounds are just beautiful. There are 3 pools on property and the best part is the manned cabana at the beach! Towels beach chairs, the whole bit. Unit E205 has been recently renovated. Just beautiful! Ocean view, by a pool and a great studio for a small family stay. Rent through Vacasa.com or VRBO best bet. We'll be back!
Great location with great view. My unit at G108 is very spacious. Two queens and one king. Big living room for family to hang out. Easy access to the beach and the facility’s cabana offers towels and beach chairs. There is a strip mall near by within walking distance. You can get food and essential items from easily. Sanitation can use some improvement. During my stay, I saw two cockroaches, one running and one half dead.
Booked through Expedia. We were in J 122. It was a good spot. Quick walk to the amazing beach. Beautiful sunsets from the lanai. Close to the grills and main pool although we preferred the dolphin pool. Staff was friendly. The grounds are full of plumerias, hibiscus and jasmine flowers. The birds in the morning are amazing. The condos were full because it was Spring Break but the beach and pools were never busy. People come from Kaanapali Beach to the one here to get away from the crowds. The location was wonderful for morning walks, happy hour at the fantastic bar at the Royal Lahaina next door, and a short drive up to Napili or Kapalua. Whales were out in the water everyday and turtles came to swim with us in the water right in front of the cabana. The condo itself was old. A cupboard door fell off. We got a screw driver from the cleaners next door and fixed it. Easier than going across the street to the office. The carpet was very old. Everything was clean when we arrived just old and stained and worn out. The decor was definitely old style Hawaiian, with a palm tree lamp and lots of wicker. We got a good deal (for Maui) on the condo and really only slept there. We would book again for the great location. If you are picky about updated accommodation don’t come here. If you don’t mind old and dated in a great location, come and enjoy.
Ok, this is a cool property in theory. If you book via Maui Eldorado Outrigger, know that you will get the worst units on property. The key to having a good visit is to book a privately owned unit via VRBO (or other such service). We were in a mold infested, filthy unit (J 122) with a poor a/c, rock hard bed and barely operating refrigerator. At check in, the staff wants to be sure you understand that they are not responsible for anything and have no interest in helping you because you booked thru Maui Eldorado. We called for help but their plan was to send a busboy to see if we were telling the truth. The other units they offered us were "partial ocean view" which means if you leave the room, walk out onto the lawn and lean, you can see the ocean. The privately owned/rented units can be fantastic (my sister had one of these). Our moldy unit had plastic plates, icky sheets, plastic plants and cheap patio furniture. The big pool is nice but heavily chlorinated to accommodate the kids. There are 2 small pools in garden environments. The cabana is a treasure with full kitchen facilities, bathroom, towels and beach chairs. It's a hike to the beach (we walked every single time) so they will send a cart for you. The golf courses really lend a sense of space. If you go to the activities orientation, they have a drawing for free activities and will sign you up and give reviews for area attractions. Know that the activities person earns a 25-50% commission on things so they are motivated to direct traffic to vendors that pay them. Just don't go here if you don't book direct or I promise you will have our same experience. Disgusting accommodations await!
Unit I 201 is a large unit and this is a nice location but that’s where it ends. Front staff not friendly or helpful. We felt like they were disappointed we arrived. We were charged $45 resort fee DAILY and then told we would have to go to the Outrigger location off property if we needed anything (towels,tp, soap etc)and it closes at 5pm!!! On top of that a $200 cleaning fee which would be acceptable if the unit was clean when we arrived. Feces looking smears in bathroom and dirty stained brown carpets. No beach equipment
Booked for two nights through Air Canada Vacations. When confirmation came in, there is a $60 US reservation fee and and a $150 US cleaning fee for this resort regardless of how long you stay. Tried cancelling right away and ACV would not allow and would charge $250 cancellation fee. Our travel agent called resort and they would allow cancellation because it was within 24 hours, like most travel companies. NOT ACV!! Will not fly or use Air Canada again.
