The hotel is located a couple of miles from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela. It used to be a mill and has been converted into a lovely hotel. The rooms are comfortable but the best thing about the hotel is the quiet serenity of the grounds and the fabulous spa. Only one or two couples are allowed to be in the spa at a time and after one hour in the water your skin feels like butter. If you want to give yourself a real treat, go the extra couple of miles out of town and stay there. You won't regret it.
I stayed for business and it was a delight , My wife used the spa services while I conducted Business, their are several section´s of the Hotel they allow you to talk and drink's and coffees are just a request away, they have a great Cake range as well, The Breakfast has a good fresh range of Food to select from, and I had dinner in the Restaurant which was amazing , the prices are well worth it , the soup was a lobster and the steaks were very tender, the wine list is good and we drank several bottles of red (From ribera del duero) it just made the night great , we were a party of 4 , I Highly recommend staying and eating at the Restaurant. The rooms are big and clean . when you are in the lounge room have a look at the photos on how the place use to be in ruins , you will amazed how well built it is today.
It was a very nice experience, I love the hotel, the area, the restaurant, my room... everything! and just 10 min from the catedral of Santiago, The people that work there, were very friendly, and the breakfast buffet, was very nice.
I have to say that this place will be our home away from home when we come to Galicia! It is incredibly well located just minutes driving into city center (Santiago) and 1 hour away from most all Galicia! Beware with waze that they have the wrong address once you enter the neighborhood... continue straight and at the end of the street you will find this beautiful cozy boutique Relais Chateaux. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted and taken great care of.... our room was ready and in great shape... this hotel sits on an old paper mill that was converted into a Hotel several years ago and you can still see the remains of the mill.... the walls of our room were of stone! The room was cozy and had a great bed... nice duvet and good pillows. The bath robe was also good... could have beed a little more spacious, but enough for us that were all day out visiting the area... the suite was awesome, if we decide to stay for a week or so, this will be a great place to stay.... This room was only missing some electronics outlets as now a-days we have so much of! The property is beautiful sitting at a riverside where you can listen to the water flowing.... temp was spectacular end October.... They could use a little more staff though, I did see a tray of a room service left on the floor outside a room and was not picked up 12 hours later.... (won’t take a star off as this is a detail I am sure won’t happen again). They have a living room area that is stunning.... cosy and warm to stay and have a night cap, read a book or just hang our and feel at home. Decoration at this hotel is TOP NOTCH! Congrats..... Breakfast is VERY good... service was also high standard.... we did not go to the spa as we only stayed there 3 nights, but when we come back, we will hopefully stay more days and enjoy the full benefits of this beautiful home away from home! Enjoy
We stayed here last night as a round off and as a reward for our camino walk. This is a very special hotel and I would highly recommend. It is tastefully and lovingly reinvented old mill and it is decorated with great love. The furnishings are perfect. Dinner in the restaurant is not until 9.30 which is a little later than we’d eat at home in Dublin but as they say “when in Rome” I’d highly recommend having dinner in the beautiful restaurant and we took the opportunity to have predrinks in the sitting room before dinner. My fiancé arrived down before me and had a single malt, he enjoys a good whiskey and the bar man a good chat with him and made an excellent recommendation, I had a gnt and the gin was galician, yum yum! A lovely barman as are all the staff here! We headed for dinner and it was delicious, the pulpo was presented beautifully, we had the house wine a rioja I’d the tuna also delicious and polished off with a very delicious dessert! As a treat, I had a facial today, it was one of the best facials I’ve ever had I’m literally floating around after it! Would recommend booking spa treatments in advance of stay so as not to be disappointed. We’re chilling in the sitting room now, listening to olde world tunes and going to have lunch here before heading to the airport. The hotel is also a member of the reail &chateaux group. If you’re looking for a relaxing and charming hotel, look no further and a taxi from the town was only 8 Euro so you can have the relaxation of this hotel and bustle of the city if you so wish.
My husband and I spent a very relaxing three nights at this charming hotel, a mere 10 minute taxi ride from the heart of Santiago. During our stay we met lots of people who had walked the Camino as well as a handful of curious travelers like us. I have been to many regions of Spain, but this was my first time in Galicia. We could not have chosen a more inviting place than A Quinta da Auga. Beautiful room, comfy bed, delicious buffet breakfast with a la carte options- all in a truly peaceful setting. The front desk staff was very courteous, kind, and helpful. They arranged a wonderful driver to take us to the beautiful town of Cambados to visit the Martín Códax winery which I highly recommend as it is a beautiful bodega with gorgeous views and the tour is very well done. We especially enjoyed eating in the bar area of A Quinta and having a glass of Albariño or Godello in the cozy living room while sitting in soft leather chairs next to the fireplace which was lit during our final night. Sadly, we didn’t have time to try the Filigrana restaurant. We will very happily return to do so.
We just arrived to his hotel on a hot autumn afternoon, and were surprised that the cute rooms have no AC. When we called the front desk they told us this was an eco-hotel, except nobody warned you that meant no cooling on the sun drenched rooms. They offered fans but it's not what you expect from a Relais & Chateau property. Disappointed that such a pretty spot is spoiled like this.
We stayed one night in a standard double room, which was very comfortable and well-appointed with views over the garden. The bed was a five foot king size. We had some issues with our key not working which were swiftly resolved by the excellent reception staff, who spoke fluent English. We enjoyed a circuit in the spa, which includes steam/sauna, showers and a hydrotherapy pool. As seems to be standard in Spanish hotels, there was an additional charge of €26 per person for residents. The bar seems to be a separate business as we were unable to charge drinks to our room. It has a French bar/Brasserie type atmosphere. We chose to take our drinks into the very comfortable sitting room next door, which must be beautifully cosy in the winter with its large fireplace. We enjoyed dinner in the hotel restaurant, which was not very busy on the evening we ate there. Service was excellent. The breakfast buffet was also excellent, with a wide selection and good coffee from Nespresso machines. We have stayed in several Relais and Chateau properties and have always found them to be very comfortable and welcoming, A Quinta da Auga is no exception.
Have styed at this hotel for 2 nights. It was so good, we were sorry that we did not book it for more days. The hotel style is romantic, the rooms are decorated in worm colors, the bathroom is very cozy. Above all the stuff iswas wonderful. Breakfast was super. This hotel can be addictive. You do not want to leat at all... To reach the city historic part we perefer to take a taxi since it was a bit far from the cente by foot. Will defebtly come back.
I was traveling with my parents and chose this hotel because of its size and association with Relais and Chateaux which I have had very good experiences with in the past. We were greeted in a friendly and helpful manner. Our rooms had beautiful views of the hotel's lovely outdoor area and were very well appointed. The staff was so gracious and helpful in all ways. I waited until late to ask for a guide to the old town and cathedral area and was very pleasantly surprised with the helpfulness and efficiciency in accommodated my request. The bedding was clean, fresh, soft and comfortable. The hotel is in a quiet location and the spa experience was fabulous. My advice, don't change anything and keep your staff, they are wonderful.
