.This hotel is first class and I would rate it as a 5 star. It is close to the Sarawak River which has a lovely walkway which takes about 15 minutes to the heart of the city. Many tourist things to do so please stay for at least a week as you will enjoy.
On this visit I was booked into the old wing, the room is comfortable, however WiFi almost non existent in this room, issues with the bath not draining and some plugs didn't work. After one night requested a move to the new wing, it is beautifully laid out and the view was stunning. Excellent WiFi.Breakfast is still served in the old wing and while adequate, not as good as i would have hoped for. Staff were attentive and a pleasure to deal with.
Stay overnight at the hotel. The hotel just launches its new wing, but never try. Our fav for this hotel is its bed and shower. Interior of this is a quite old fashion stail. however, the hotel is quiet and don't have lots of noise despite it's located nearby to the major road.
We stayed at this hotel as part of our Kuching trip. The facilities you get for the price is absolutely incredible. Shopping malls nearby and the riverview makes it an amazing place to stay. Pool, spa, tennis, bowling, gym are all available to pass time. Breakfast was not included in our booking but can be included. Good deal !
After my last visit in 2016, I used my timeshare to obtain a week's stay. The room I got was clean, the bed was comfortable but the room looked like someone had tried to do some repair and left it undone. The mirror trim was missing, the door had peeling paint and there was a crack in the wash basin. The safe did not work and the maintenance staff informed us that he would need to order a battery but until the end of the stay the safe was not repaired. The plumbing was old and noisy and we could even hear loud noises when someone in the next room used the toilet. When the toilet was flushed, water shot out from the toilet. We were given a low floor where people crossed from the old wing to the new wing and vice versa. After a lovely stay in 2016, we were really disappointed.
We only stayed her for one night and chose to stay int he new wing. The whole place looks like it's still getting used to be up and running, which isn't a bad thing, but it does mean there's a few sticking points. The room was a good size and had a great view of the river. Bed was comfortable and the bathroom well stocked. I have to agree with the other comments regarding cleanliness, our room clearly hadn't been given a good clean after the decorating was finished and it was really quite dusty (not superficial, large clumps and crumbs of plaster from the decorating) The gym is fine, bit of a maze to get there as it's in the old wing but OK. We didn't use the pool area as it looked a little unloved. It's got great potential, it just needs a bit of love.
Stayed in the old section and got upgraded and had access to the executive floor which was fantastic with a beautiful river view! Staff were so friendly and helpful especially Abdul ! Location is perfect, very close to river and eating places. While in Kuching go see the Orangutans and also Bako National Park ! Had the best time here with some of the friendliest people around! Will return!
Lucky. Got free upgrade to suite. Clean, nice and cozy. Room are spacious although a bit outdated but it still look new. Food for breakfast have lot of variety. Staff polite and with manners. Will definitely staying here again once in kuching.
We were in two minds about this hotel as we stayed in the old wing. There were issues with cleanliness and rooms desperately in need of an update as others have mentioned. After a night awake due to the clanking of what we thought was the lift shaft we were moved to another room. The water heating had also required attention, but was promptly fixed. It is true that the pervading smell of cigarette smoke in rooms is off putting and we could also smell smoke in the corridors, which did not make us feel particularly safe. The poolside area is not looked after particularly well - ash left from the night before, plasters visible for several days and dirty recliners and the water in the pool is quite cloudy. Breakfast was fine, but in the evening the one open dining area was empty apart from the staff. The location of the hotel is very good -just off the waterfront.
The view of the river and location is perfect for strolls on the river and find food stalls with delicious food. The room I was given was pretty bad and with more than one issue, I got upgraded to a new room easily because of that. Staff is very courteous and available. They also give tips on tours and food places. Breakfast is good with different choices. Cleanliness was a bit of an issue. For standards encountered in other hotels in and out of Malaysia was a bit low. For Europeans might have low standards too. Towels were stained and not smelling fresh, bathroom was dirty, rusty and stained. In the first room given the window glass was stained, a socket was badly misplaced, lights weren't working and the deposit box was maybe broken, not to mention the smell of mould and a layer of dust on the appliances were too much to be staying in there. I've asked for a solution for the ants on the night table and the housekeeper came in the room with a multi-surface cleaner moving all dusty telephone and aircon/light controller on the bed sheets to clean the night table,I had to tell her that it wasn't very hygienic to do, since I will be putting my face on that very dust. She apologised for that. Hence the need for an upgrade to a new room. The other room given was a little bit better,no mouldy smell and window cleaned, ants were still there but at that point, I was already exhausted and didn't say anything. The swimming pool is okay, but the cleanliness is a problem there too. Towels were stained and on the edge of the swimming pool on the outside drains there was moss. I didn't feel very comfortable in the overall experience because of cleanliness, but I understand the differences in standards that one can have.
