After my first night at the Silka Maytower, my body was covered with itchy insect bites. I thought I had gotten them while exploring the city, but after discovering two bugs crawling on the pillow later on, I confirmed that it was caused by the hotel bed. Our toilet had no toothbrush or toothpaste, so we requested that they send us some when we were at the reception. An hour later, still nothing. I tried contacting housekeeping, but no one picked up, so I tried the reception desk and again, no answer. The customer service at the Maytower is severely lacking attention to detail, and the hygiene is pretty bad in some places (the hallway smells musty). I think my favourite part of the whole place was that Panasonic iron in the room.
On 16th &17th September 2017 we stayed in the 24th floor of this 28 floor Hotel This is a 3 star hotel, very close to Hotel Sanjeetha and hotel Saravana Bhavan.Komala Vilas is slightly far off.The stay was quite comfortable. 24 hr hot water. The marketing places are close by. Ammankoil is adjacent to that.Money changers are close by.
Silka maytower would be one of my favourite hotels of all time in KL, especially when im in long vacation as the location is great surrounded by a lot of shops, and malls, the hotel wes clean and the room was big enough, friendly staff, and i do like the breakfast simple and tasty, the swimming pool was clean and not crowded
When I booked our 2 night KL stay, my priorities were proximity to tourist areas, public transport, a pool, breakfast, and of course price. I ended up booking at Silka Maytower, and found it was a comfortable, convenient stay. We arrived at the hotel approx 12:30 pm, but our room was not yet ready. We left our bags and walked around the neighbourhood (Little India, also not far from Chinatown and Petaling Street). When we returned and went up to our room, we were surprised by the cigarette odours in our room (we had specifically requested non-smoking). In addition, the room was quite small an ready for an update, with its only real positive feature being its direct view of KL Tower. My hubby rang reception, who immediately arranged another room without question or complaint. The duty reception woman escorted us up to the 30th floor, to a far superior room, where someone had just finished servicing the air conditioner. The room was wheelchair accessible (and therefore roomier than many). Although the hotel's decor is rather dated in general, our room was clean and tidy. We were very pleased with the hotel staff's kind assistance, and with the upgrade. The room was spacious, with everything you would expect, good hot water (but you must remember to switch on the heater), good wifi and built in travel adapters / USB plugs, a TV with English programs (but no movies), and a decent bed. This room also had views of the KL Tower. There is a supermarket at the nearby Lulu hypermart, and numerous malls, restaurants and food stands nearby. We ordered the breakfast buffet at an additional 18 MYR per person, and it was quite good, with lots of local, Indian, Asian and Western choices, nice brewed coffee and hot milk, a DIY noodle bar and fresh fruit. There are also complimentary daily English newspapers available. Service from all staff was very friendly and helpful, and the woman who helped us at check-in also looked out for us the next day, noticing we had been left waiting as the tour operator we had booked with were late to collect us. She called the company on our behalf and was able to resolve things. Overall, a great stay. I would recommend paying a little more for a better quality room, and you will surely be comfortable.
It's a nicely located hotel. It's in the heart of the city. All the places are very close tho this place. I enjoyed staying at this place. The super market Lulu is also very close this hotel. This store is one of the biggest stores in the kL.
There were real pros and cons to this hotel. The location is great and the room was clean, I also enjoyed the view from my balcony. However one morning I didn't have running water and the last two nights I stayed there I didn't have hot water. In fairness I didn't report this, so they couldn't have known to fix it. The last night of my trip the man in the next room was smoking and because we had an adjoining door it made my room smell quite strongly so I'd advise asking for a non-smoking floor of they have it. Breakfast selection quite good and staff mostly friendly. Always nice to have free tea and coffee provided too.
Horrible hotel even if pictures are showing something not so bad. Really dirty, we found cockroaches in the room and it also smelled very very bad. We asked for another room but it was just the same! It was really dirty and we had to run away from this hotel. The staff apologised and said they know there is this problem...There are long term accommodations inside the building with lot of local and foreign people living there and cooking everything at every time. This hotel need to be closed in order to be disinfected! We were not refund even if we didn't stay there. Terrible.
I was very happy at this place. It is close to the train station, walking distance to many attractions but out of the very touristy area. The apartment was spacious and well appointed and the staff friendly. The markets in the streets behind the hotel during Ramadan are the best! Plenty of shopping and restaurants in close proximity. It has a nice pool area open to hotel guests and residents and a popular conference facility. Plenty of Asian families staying here,
I stayed in the hotel for two days with family and hotel room was nice and the food also good and tasty and enjoyable. Hotel situated in the heart of the city . receptionists are very helpful in guiding to place to visit.
It is with full regret to book this hotel! My partner got bitten by bugs at night which crawl out from the bottom of the bed! Hands and legs got swollen due to the bites which cause her to have a sleepless night! I will never book this hotel again!
