Dirty & poorly maintained common areas, no daytime access security
The street-level entrance foyer, stairs, and first floor hallway are dirty, poorly maintained, and poorly lit. The building entrance door remained wide-open to public traffic during business hours (there is a first floor Art Gallery next to the apartment).
The photographs of the partly-renovated apartment are generally accurate. Too bad they did not fix the spongy places in the subfloor under that new laminate!
The location and neighborhood are wonderful! Great shops, restaurants and attractions all around! Overall, my family of 4 enjoyed our stay very much.
It is very nice that the street is closed to vehicular traffic for most of the day. However, that makes it difficult for taxis to get you dropped-off close-by with your luggage.
Unfortunately, two days following checkout we were erroneously charged a pet cleaning fee even though we have no animals. My complaint and request for a refund were categorically refused consideration. The rental agency justifies their action stating that it was my responsibility to thoroughly inspect the cleanliness of the apartment and report issues immediately upon arrival. Sadly, we did not get down on our hands and knees when we looked around inside the apartment. At the time of this writing, almost two weeks have passed and the matter is still under a dispute filed with my credit card company.
