We stayed here for 5 nights and were thoroughly happy. Staff cannot do enough for you and the hotel and grounds are in great condition. We stayed in a deluxe room with direct pool access which I highly recommend as the pool was peaceful with stunning views. All the food was excellent especially breakfast. The only thing the hotel is missing is a bar for late night drinks but the local village only a short walk away has bars and restaurants to check out - all very good prices. Cocktails at Rasta Baby were great. Santhiya has a great gym too for those keen. Super impressed and would highly recommend to people who expect high quality service and facilities. Can't wait to come back.
We have loved our stay here from the moment we arrived. The private villas were perfect for celebrating our 15 year anniversary and we felt like we were the only guests they were so attentive. Thailand is beautiful and this trip was a dream!
An amazing hotel. Our room was spectacular with a huge view to the much part of the island (see and mountains). The stuff was very friendly. The food was so good, specially the breakfast. I recommend 100%.
Santhiya continues to get better and better - we have visited 4 times now and it is a wonderful island paradise. We have stayed in many luxury resorts in our time and can honestly say that the pool villas are the nicest we have ever come across in Asia. The breakfast is fantastic, the By the Sea restaurant serves excellent lunch fare and the staff are ultra-friendly. Overall, Santhiya is a must-stay for any discerning traveller looking for a luxurious stay in a beautiful, natural Thai setting.
We recently stayed here for 4 nights in a hideaway pool villa room. The room itself was stunning, one of the most beautiful rooms I have seen. The outdoor bathroom is beautiful as well, but it is fully outdoors so beware. The room is getting a bit tired, but overall the style/look/feel is very special. The rest of the hotel facilities are average. It doesn’t feel like a luxury resort, but more like an eco lodge. The food in at their buffet break or dinner was also average. The surroundings and that area of the island is stunning (even though it was raining the entire time we were there).
Well,…what can’t you say about this hotel! Anyone who reads my reviews knows that I am more than fair in my reviews …and I absolutely love this hotel!! Everything about this hotel from our perspective was personalised as in….you were picked up from Koh Samui by staff of the hotel from the harbour (dressed in uniform) and transferred to (not just the shore where we thought we would board a coach) but to the hotel pier directly! It’s taken me ages to write this review since being back as I knew it would be long. On arrival we were greeted by staff who took us up to reception but to our surprise the young lady picked up a baton and started to hit a gong to sound our arrival to gather other staff in the reception (now you may think with the boat and the gong that we has paid a lot but we had paid the normal price) at this point we were just in a normal double room and we were two of an assortment of holidaymakers. All the staff gathered to great us and bowled formally and then we were taken for a welcome drink while they sorted our rooms. I had tried previously to upgrade our room to a pool villa via our holiday company but been unsuccessful due to allocation but on site I spoke with Mary-Jane who was marvellous to say the least and she sorted us out a private garden pool villa..this was not to be missed! (We did pay an upgrade charge for this) We went in September and there are some berries on the trees within our garden villa which bats came in for at around about 6pm for 30 mins but other than that I would def say that this villa is a must….TBH who is normally bathing in the dark anyway….please don’t let this put you off …it made our memories J This hotel is BEAUTIFUL!! And It is all uphill and I would normally advise that anyone with breathing difficulty should not stay HOWEVER this I would recommend as they actually shuttle you up and down from your room to reception. You simply pick up the phone and dial the reception and you are never waiting more than 5 mins….enough time for you to lock the door and wait outside and there is your lift! If you are very overweight however I would perhaps suggest that this wouldn’t be the best hotel as the shuttle is basically two high steps away from mounting the back of van. The grounds are green, floral and very well looked after…it has a small beach but in September it only got the sun early morning and was gone by 3pm but there is a beautiful pool with sun loungers made to look like boats that practically get the sun all day at the top of the resort. The staff are super friendly and help you with anything they can. They can arrange trips but they will not be the cheapest! As far as staff are concerned, I dare anyone to judge them as they simply were there for your every need! Even breakfast comes equipped with a thai man and woman playing what I can describe as only the most soothing music….it was very relaxing and always a smile on those faces…sod doing that day after day…but they did and it made the difference. There are a good few steps down to the bottom pool area from the reception but I have a bad knee and I could handle it! The bottom main pool with waterfall is beautiful but get down there early if you want a place….it gets packed…we preferred the pool up top or around our own pool but we was lucky enough to get one albeit that the sun went in early…but hey ho…you get other perks with your own pool lol private sunbathing being one! Now. Location for the traveller..this really is in the middle of …well, green hills. You can access another fab beach which is to the right (if you are staring out to sea of the hotel) and this at the end takes you into a small town with some great food places.. we ate at a small place called Jip Shop and there was a rabbit inside? Weird as it may seem it seemed to be a local attraction but in honest it was one of the best meals we had the whole time we were here and also the cheapest! Both of us cost 480Bht. About £6.50. BARG! I would definitely recommend easting outside the hotel as in the hotel the food is very good but it is not as cheap...prices aren’t horrific but the food is just as nice outside. To put it into perspective a beer will cost you 150 bht in the hotel for a small one but outside you can buy a large bottle for 75bht. When we found the shops, we went outside for everything! Meals also came in at about 705-905 bht per person when outside 550 for the two and the food just as wonderful. Personally unless you are really tired I would go out for the food. You can hire bikes in town, (mopeds) for 200 – 300 a day but it’s a long and windy road to anything else. If you do hire a bike however…bottle beach is meant to be a must which we only found out at the end and missed it L We did do the half moon party which is said to be MUCH better than the full moon…not only is it safer but not as packed and a no drug policy…sorry to those who do but we loved it…only downside was trying to get back to the hotel…this should only cost you 500bht so try and buddy up with someone from the hotel if you can and get a cab as on the night for the small drive they will try and charge you about 2000bht about 50 quid at the time…NO! There are only two complains about this hotel that I have. 1) Really minor complaint - is that on one particular day a cleaner took a robe and didn’t replace it and I said to my partner at the time that I should report it but we didn’t bother and the hotel did try to charge it to me at checkout but to be honest when I told them we didn’t have it they were very understanding and removed the charge 2) Valid complaint and I am surprised that no one has bought this to their attention before…BE WARNED and to those staff who read this please I think you should address this – At the Top Pool there is no bar? Sounds silly but there is a phone to call reception to order drinks by the pool with the boats BUT you are charged ROOM SERVICE RATES..which we were unaware at the time!!! We wanted a water and waited 35 mins only to be charged about £5.50 for a small water. I was not impressed. Needless to say we didn’t go back to this pool – if you go to this pool take your own bits refreshments Other than that this hotel is BEAUTIFUL and I would blink my way there now! The Staff really made this for us and Mary-Jane was an absolute Jem. Book it!
visited this place with my wife for our honeymoon. could never ask for more as this place is wonderful. we had a hideaway pool villa and it was perfect. very cozy rooms with our own private pool, very spacious room in the midst of the jungle feel. facilities was great with 2 huge pools and gym etc. Breakfast was great too with a lot of variety and cozy ambient. would definitely come back again with my family.
For us it was just perfect. Friendly staff, nice breakfast and a very well taken care of resort with very clean rooms. Yes it is true that getting there is not the easiest thing as the speedboat- depending on weather conditions will not stop directly at the resort. But once arriving at the resort it is just paradise. Perfectly located in a tiny bay. The other bay and thus the little village is connected through a small climbing path - meaning you have to climb over some smaller rocks - which we thought was ok. The path has also light during night hours. The village nearby offers everything you need but is not fancy nor has stylish shopping facilities. Within the resort transportation is organized with little cars as some of the villas are located up the hill. We had a regular room (#434) which did offer anything we desired including a fantastic view as you can see from the pictures. Overall pricing is a bit more expensive in the resort compared to the village. As we love Thai food we did decide to have dinner outside in the village thus I can not really commend on the food. We only had some of their tasty snacks at the restaurant by the sea. One last recomendation: please review also google maps and street view, as this resort might be not suitable if you do not like to walk or live in a hill-side area. Please be also aware that you have to take the boat to Koh Phangan as there is no Airport on the island.
This place was EVERYTHING I wanted in a 5star luxury vacation to Thailand. It is a piece of heaven. The service was EXCELLENT. The views and hotel decor were picturesque. This place is amazing for families and couples on a romantic honeymoon alike.
great resort to stay in, food was good but villa looks abit worn down may require some touch up. staff was helpful and friendly. its was monsoon season when I visited so the wave are rough so not advisable to go to beach. the pool at beach look murky but the pool at hill was good. overall I had a very relax holiday at santhiya. the hospitality never fail.
