It is a small hotel, and a very convenient one, since I went to Kobe to work all day during my stay there. I stayed at the other Green Hill Hotel a few blocks from this, in 2015, and it was much better, in my opinion. But both are very good hotels for their level and the staff is wonderful.
We had a tiny room in Tokyo, but that seems spacious now compared to the extra tiny one we had here. The bathroom door opened in the wrong direction, making it feel even smaller. Location: halfway between Shin Kobe and Sannomiya station, about 10 minute walk from either, so not super convenient. There were restaurants and convieni nearby, and coin laundry next door. Room: tiny. No closet to put bags, thank God we used luggage delivery service so we didn't have them here. Bathroom: no freebies (toothbrush, q-tips, etc), so hope you brought everything. Mirror was also lacking the anti steam feature, and they tell you to keep door closed when showering. Noise: absurd. We could hear the next room talking at low volume through the wall. The door had a large gap at the bottom so we could hear the hallway even better, and see shadows of anyone passing by. View: terrible. We were on the top floor, but still saw only the wall of the building next store. Price: very high. Granted it was Saturday and during sakura season, but our Tokyo room was less than half daily. Staff: friendly, spoke English, helped us use the laundry. Overall, this was our worst stay so far. Wish we had more options, but at peak season this was the best we could do.
I stayed here for about two weeks on a business trip. The staff was friendly, professional, and corrected the one small mix-up we had quickly and apologetically. The room was small, but expertly laid out with everything I needed. It had a single bed, a desk, a bathroom; it was just big enough for those features plus me. I bought a room with breakfast included, and I recommend the Japanese style breakfast. The location was within walking distance of the train station and several bus lines, as well as the beautiful Nunobiki Falls. Overall, I find it hard to imagine a better value in a hotel room.
Hi, I stayed here for 1 night because a friend of mine couldn't host me that night so he booked this hotel for me. The reception staff are very friendly and I used most day the free wifi. The hotel it self is in horrible condition. All rooms smell like sigarette smoke. I wanted to swap to non-smoking room but it was sold out. My bed sheets were partly clean. The white ones are clean but the top sheet was smelly and full of sigarette holes. The room is so tiny you can barely move your butt. Carpet everywhere in the hotel needs to be cleaned properly. It looks outdated and dirty. Would not recommend this hotel if you have other options within your budget. As said I personally wouldn't had chosen this hotel, but out of respect to my friend stayed here and he is a local.
This hotel gets the record for the smallest double room we have ever encountered. It would be barely acceptable as a single (see photo). Don't share this room with someone who you don't want to be REALLY intimate with. As a bonus, our window faced on a blank wall about 3 feet away. All this for $120 a night. Lesson learned: don't trust the reviews on Agora.com.
My husband and I were passing through Kobe and did a last minute online booking for one night at the Green Hill Hotel Urban. I would have to say it was pretty decent considering we only used the room to sleep in. Pros - Great price for last minute stay - 5-10 minute walk from Sannomiya Station and Shin-Kobe Station - Close proximity to shops and restaurants - Great service from staff - Clean rooms - Free wi-fi in rooms Cons - Outdated rooms - Very thin walls (to be expected) - Very small rooms (to be expected) I would recommend this hotel to those who will be having short stays in Kobe.
This was a pleasant surprise during my recent visit to Kobe. There are two 'green hills' located roughly 1/2 way between ShinKobe Station and the main station in town, Sannomiya. My room was (predictably) small, but tidy and serviceable and only about $50. The Green Hill Urban has its own coffee shop, which doubles as a gift shop and the staff were really accommodating. The main Green Hill has an elegant restaurant and is right next door to the Kobe YMCA, which doubles as a magnet for foreigners of most every description, so if you're a beginner or basket case in Nihongo, you can get help if you need it. Business hotels tend to be cramped and they may not always welcome foreigners, but I had a really good experience at the Green Hill and recommend it highly.
I am currrently living in GHU for almost a week now. In my views, it the best hotel you can find for an ampunt of money which is considered dirt here in Japan. Moreover, this is located in the heart of the city ie Sannomiya so you won't have to worry a lot about convenience stores or food. They also have a microwave and the cleaners can clean at any time you wish. Did u say it was awesome ? Oh yes, I think it is the cheapest and the best value for money hotel in Kobe !!
Greenhill hotel Kobe Located about 10 minutes walk from the Kobe railway, Greenhill hotel is a comfortable place to stay. English is hardly spoken, but the usual Japanese politeness and efficiency ensures you have a good stay. Internet is available in all rooms, and there is a fair buffet breakfast included (very limited in continental fare – it has more Japanese eatables) in the room fare (approx. 7000 Yen per night). Rooms are very clean, made in Japanese style and have a TV. Address – see the photo below. You WILL need to show the Japanese writing to the taxi driver (in fact that is true for most taxis in Japan) How to reach – 1) There is a direct train from Osaka Kansai airport to Osaka Shinkansen (Bullet train) station (1 hour). 2) Take a Shinkansen from Shin-Osaka to Shin-Kobe station (1 hour) 3) 10 minutes walk from Shin-Kobe, though if coming first time, it is better to take a taxi as the hotel is in a small lane off the main road. Note - Many inter-city trains do not run from 10 pm to 6 am. So if arriving late at night at Osaka Kansai, there is a helpful information desk at Kansai airport where English is spoken and they will let you know where you can stay. An airport hotel is located close ot Kansai airport.
Stayed in a single room, with its own toilet and shower cubicle. Room was clean though nothing special, but for the price you can't complain if you are just looking for somewhere to sleep while in Kobe. Easy to find & in walking distance from both Shinkobe and Sannomiya stations. Computer with free internet access in the lobby. Recommend it as a relatively cheap no-frills option.
