I was dubious staying here after reading so many negative reviews. Unfortunately, most of the negative reviews are accurate. The bed bugs though a minimal amount had some effect on me. It was impossible to work on my Computer while charging as there were no sockets available. The shower was not very clean. On the positive side, good wifi and a nice selection of cable channels.
Stayed overnight for a concert. Very reasonable price, clean beds but nothing fancy. Needs some major upgrading but was good enough for a place to safely lay your head down for a night's rest. Unit has a small fridge and microwave although the microwave needs a good cleaning. Coffeemaker in room but no coffee and no Kleenex. Decent value for the price you pay.
Went to Kitchener to visit some friends for Christmas so I stayed at the Knights Inn. When I checked in they were very friendly and accommodating. When I got to my room it was clean and smelled fresh. It looked like they had recently updated the bathrooms. My room was comfortable with a queen size bed but also had a sofa so there was someplace to relax other than sitting on the bed. Conveniently located to good restaurants. Good value for the price.
No real privacy. All other patrons seem to be living in this motel. Garbage bins left outside every door. Appears to be a hang out place for the less fortunate. Not a place I would recommend for families.
Good price for a nights stay. Room smelt nice upon arrival, & sheets smelt clean. Room is sketchy, shower rod fell down, but does provide a fridge & microwave. Not sure where you were expected to receive a free breakfast as advertised. Front desk / office is dirty, & staff is not very friendly or welcoming; check in & check out as fast as possible. Cannot review pool as our stay was in December, but looked nice! One piece of important advice, choose having a bath over a shower. Besides the curtain rod mishap, the water temperature is constantly going up & down, which I assume is based on what the other units are using water for, ie flushing toilets, having showers, etc.
I work in Kitchener a few times a year, and they often reserve rooms for me at the Knights Inn. If you check my previous reviews you will see that i describe the knights inn in kitchener as not glamorous but good on a budget. And indeed some of the rooms have been renovated to some degree. But on this visit the combination of hookers with track marks on their necks hanging out outside their rooms, and other hotel residents walking down the walway, trying each doorknob to see if any had been left open did not instill a comfortable stay. The room itself was horrible, with a hole punched through the sliding bathroom door, the bathroom ceiling vent fan hanging down, the air co ditioner smashed, two dim ceiling lights, no reading lights, and a filthy dorm sized refrigerator with all the shelves smashed out. If you have to stay at this hotel ask for one of the rooms near the front desk, they are newer. Avoid the "middle wing" at all costs.
Went to see a play in Stratford on Thursday, decided to stay in Kitchener on Friday to avoid the heavy traffic going north. Decided to find a cheap hotel to stay and visit old haunts like St. Jacobs and Kitchener sights. Found this room for $65 on Weber street and decided to give it a go since we won't be in the room much. Room is ok, but you get what you pay for. We had to laugh because we are used to 5 star places, but at the hotel in Stratford where I paid 3 times as much , the toilet would not flush and had to pay parking. Here the parking is free and there is a nice pool though I did not go for a swim. The staff was friendly and I requested a couple of extra pillows and he gave us brand new ones. The ice machine is in the office also. Room was comfortable as was the bed. No carpets in the room. The bathroom fan was very loud but ok. Shower was good and the shampoo was very good. No flat screen tv in this room , but we enjoyed a late movie before bed. Overall, pretty quiet overnight. There seems to be permanent residents in some areas of the hotel, but they were quiet and sitting on the porch during the evening. There is a Tim Hortons opened across the street . We drove to a Williams Pub about 5 minutes away. Hotel is very close to highway 8 and the 401. Overall decent stay.
It is really a disgusting place. The smell in the room is bad and the place is really bad to get rest and sleep. If you go to the Whyndham website they show a really nice picture but in person is really different and the place is expensive for what they deliver
I travel frequently to kitchener/waterloo are to my professional commitments. This was my first time staying at this motel and I enjoyed it the most. Everything about this property was amazing right from the check in to check out. Staff was friendly, rooms were clean and location is really good as it close to the Highway. Highly recommended f you are traveling to kitchener.
OH MY SOUL! Please, never ever go to this place. When we arrived, there were very sketchy individuals sitting outside the lobby area. The man running the front desk was kind but possibly intoxicated. He upgraded our bed size but the room was disgusting. We were in the area for a music festival so knew we would not spend a lot of time there so we put up with it. Plus, they do not do refunds of any kind. There is no security at all. My car was broken into and they stole an ipod and a necklace. There are many people that live there full time that sit outside and smoke all day. There's a pool that was ok. A bit dirty. We laughed so hard when we got to the room. The rooms were so outdated and so dark. It smelled like an old basement. There were 2 fridges. One was fine but the other had been unplugged and was full of mold. Shower curtain was covered in stains. Food under bed. Hand prints on the wall that looked like someone had been dragged into the joining room. We felt very scared the entire time we were there. Checked for bed bugs when we arrived but didn't see any signs of them. At the music festival we got talking to some cops. When they found out where we were staying they got a bit upset that we had not done more research into the area. They told us to pack up our stuff and leave that motel. The cab driver that dropped us off after the festival stayed until we were locked in the room and gave us his card to give him a call if we needed anything. Obviously, the locals know that it is a very sketchy motel and were doing their best to protect us. The power was out in the morning so the air conditioning was not on and the room became very stuffy and started to smell pretty bad. There was a domestic fight in the room beside us and it sounded like they were in our room. So so so happy to leave. I would highly recommend spending extra money to get a better spot just for the safety reasons. We can laugh now because we survived but it was one of the weirdest/ scariest weekends I've experienced.
