We had spent a few nights at another hotel on the seafront in Kalamata before I wondered down to have a look at Hotel Ostria one evening. The gentleman on the desk gave me keys to a few rooms to look at which I consider to be good practice in the hotel industry. It gives the customer the opportunity to look at what they are buying before they buy. I chose a room on the front with full sea view. We moved into the hotel the following day. We loved our stay of 5 nights here. The hotel is clean, friendly and well run. The owner is around a good deal of the time which is great. He goes out of his way to speak to guests and to provide information about the area. He really provides a personal and welcoming touch. We love Kalamata. It is an interesting city which oozes atmosphere. We have been many times over the years but this was our first stay at this hotel. We are however going back in July this year for five nights. After staying in most of the seafront hotels here, we definitely recommend Hotel Ostria as our favourite.

Have just spent a week at Kalamata and Hotel Ostria. Fantastic hotel, it exceeded all our expectations. The hotel is right on the sea front in the centre of the long promenade so a perfect location. The new town and old town are about a 25 minute walk up behind the front. The new town is very bustly with lots of shops and cafes and the old town is very quaint with the castle up behind on the hill. We had a deluxe sea view room on the top floor (4th) and was great with a fantastic sea view. The room was a triple so very spacious, a kettle and fridge was a nice touch, tv with lots of channels, plenty of wardrobe and storage space and a nice big balcony. It would have been nice to have a safety deposit box in the room, but you could leave valuables in the reception safe instead. The staff are fantastic, reception are very helpful and cheerful and the two ladies at breakfast who also cover the beach bar are equally as lovely. Breakfast had a good choice although it is exactly the same every day - it maybe would have been nice to have a couple of different options each day to change it up a bit but overall we couldn't complain. The fresh fruit salad every day was an added bonus. The beach is just across the street, its shingly but very clean and the sea although icy cold was very clean and clear too. The sea does deepen quite quickly here. Free hotel sunbeds was an added bonus and saved us quite a bit of money. We found the hotel fairly quiet in the main although our first night there was a school party staying who were incredibly noisy but luckily they checked out the next day. Then on the last day of the holiday a large group of pensioners checked in who again were equally as noisy. But inbetween it just seemed to be couples staying there. There are plenty of cafes, bars and restaurants along the front so you are spoiled for choice. The town had a nice atmosphere, it was the first week of the season (first week of June) so some places were still setting up and there weren't too many tourists around so it was mainly locals out and about at night which we prefer anyway. So overall we would definitely recommend Kalamata. Its not a typical tourist holiday resort but has plenty of amenities and a nice beach so we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We thoroughly enjoyed our brief stay and plan to return next year! The location is great as was the view from our balcony. The front desk staff was helpful and friendly as well. The room prince Included breakfast which was good too.

The room was spacious, clean, luckily it has a proper shower and not a "wet room" where water can go all over the floor, the staff are friendly and speak English well. Bus number 1 is for the city center and is on the same side of the road as the hotel and comes every 15- 20 minutes. Breakfast is quite good. Beds are very comfortable and internet speed is above average. These big Kalamata seafront hotels sometimes attract big Greek school groups who can be noisy. We had one such group in the room above us and at bed time it sounded like a herd of elephants playing football! I believe that they were playing a sporty computer game, one of the ones which involves stomping around the floor as well as holding the controller, regular cheers coming out of the TV speaker. By a miracle I got to sleep but was woken at 3am by the same noise still continuing, but got back to sleep. I was woken again at 6am, just the stomping this time as presumably they were packing to leave. Couldn't management ensure that these school groups are never above or next to regular clients? We will use this hotel again if in Kalamata, but request a top floor room!

The hotel is pretty nice very close to the sea. If one choices a room with a view to the sea one can enjoy it but at night the noise of the cars is something that he has to accept... The bathroom had a little bit of smell from the sewage which wasn't very pleasant. The breakfast was average.

Its budget friendly, simple and good over all hotel. The look is dated, but that's fine. Who stays in a room in Greece anyway! The staff is kind and accommodating, breakfast is decent and abundant. I would sincerely return here no problem. And you're right on the beach! A rare find, and a gem. Just be prepared to be transported to 1970s with decor. We didn't care, it was on the beach, next to great restaurant and on the main street. Considering that, it wasn't too noisy. We had a balcony too.

Pleasant enough place to stay with the rooms looking out over the sea front. Nothing in paticular to right home about but nothing to complain about either. Not a hot tourist spot and therefore ideal for those that wish to get away from the 18 to 30 club environment

In the front of hotel is beach. neighbouring cafe and restaurants along the street. The check in was fast and the meal was standard. we got parking lot at the back of hotel and it was free with big space.

Yes totally worth staying there twice ! Friendly staff Very good location Clean and cozy rooms Unbelievable view Good breakfast Value for money I had one problem with a smell in the bathroom but i think is due to repairs next door. I didn't complain about it but i am sure that they would have moved us to another room if i did, so no star for that.

We felt at home and enjoyed a couple of relaxing days at this hotel which offered friendly service and a great location across from the beach. The breakfast was great with local flavours. Try to book the sea view rooms.
