The hotel has a nice foyer and a very central location. The room (I think we booked a family room) was quite large and accommodated the three of us nicely, although the standard was a bit tired and worn. Breakfast was great with a lot to choose from and with a range of variaties in every category. The lady working as the breakfast host was a extremely lovely. Attentive and welcoming to everyone. I would say she actually was the highlight of our experience at Scandic Portalen.
We had nice days over christmas. All the people were really polite und helpful. It was a quite long way to our room, but that*s good still. The way to the garage is a little complicated and we didn't recognize the door-opener till the last day. The service was completely first class. Special thanks to the young latest at reception, best job! You could not make it in a better way.
Dirty and worn out 1 star hotel - disgrace for Scandic hotel group! Dirty bed sheets, slow service, all in all below a standard that should expected in Sweden! I travel 200 days per year and stays in all kinds of hotels - this was the worst one!
Centrally located, swell personal, outstanding breakfast with lots of organic and several gluten and dairy free options. Comfortable and a touch of luxury. Spa and gym door to door. Saunas on top floor in hotel with a smaller gym.
We were staying in Jönköping as part of a business trip and were booked into the Scandic. In terms of convenience it’s right in the centre of the town, so perfect for shopping. When we arrived we received a really warm welcome. The staff were really friendly and helpful, giving us all the information we needed. Our bedroom was on the 7th floor, so we were above any street noise that other reviewers had complained about. The room was basic but clean, it’s almost like a Travelodge. Everything was functional and working. A little special touch was the heated bathroom floor. The hotel had some really nice touches, downstairs in the reception was a really well stocked shop with things like toothbrushes and sweets. Through a door is a great gym and spa. As we had the hotel booked for us I can’t say if it’s value for money, but as a basic place to stay for a few nights this ticks all the boxes.
We stayed to nights at the scandic. The rooms were clean and spacious. Wifi is good and the beds are fine. The drinks in the bar are rather expensive hence we recommend pick a bsr closer to the University.
Stayed for 3 nights. Central location, so walkable to anywhere, that is true. Close to amenities, that is true too. Hence location would have been oh so perfect, if it wasn't adjoined to a gym that you can hear the thumping music AND class-instructors' voices from there!! I went to my room for a quick nap on the final night, after a busy business schedule, only to hear music and instructor's voice during what might have been a spinning or body-pump class. Put my (noise-cancelling) headphones on, nope, didn't help. Exhausted & irritated, I left the room, thinking the sound can only be heard from one section of the building. Went to reception (the other side of building) to complain about it, and the sound from the gym could be heard at the hotel lobby whilst I was talking to the person at the reception. Seriously??!!! The look on his face when I simply pointed 'next door' and mention 'loud music', indicated that this was not the first time!!! Not sure which of the businesses came first. Regardless, didn't they think to intervene with planning permission if the gym came later? Breakfast choices & quality was somewhat reasonable. So overall, ok stay unless you want to rest in your room anytime in the day, especially during gym peak hours (from 4.30pm!!)
A really good hotell in the middle of Jönköping. A nice place to stay during the city tour and with good restaurants in the nearby with different kind of food. Near busses and stores, if you want to buy anything.
Located in the center of Jönköping close to resturants. Check in took to long. Only one staff that was a bit slow. Nice room and good breakfast. Gym and sauna was good. Parking was good but a bit expensive.
Smallish room, but quiet, comfortable and not overheated. Simple but functional hotel in the Swedish style. Pretty good breakfast. Everything I needed! Nice restaurant next door. What else can I say??
