Radisson Blu Gautrain Hotel Sandton Johannesburg4.0 out of 5.0

A short walk from the Gautrain station in Sandton makes this an ideal place to overnight in Johannesburg. We caught the train from the airport (20 minutes), had an excellent dinner in the hotel restaurant followed by a good sleep in a large room with a comfortable double bed. Left early next morning to catch a flight at 9:30 am - proximity to the station meant there was no stress!
Traveling aline for work, in a restless city where racism and poverty are a threat for tourists, I was recomended to stay at Radisson Blue Gautrain. I cannot say how happy I was that I follow this advice. I walked and run in the neighborhood of the hotel feeling safe. I also liked the vicinity to Mandela Square, that has a lot of options for tourists, from great food paired by good South African wines to shopping. The terass of the hotel, cosy and welcoming, together with the nice weather enabled good conversations with other travellers.
Great location, staff was extra friendly, breakfast was excellent. A great location near the square without really crazy prices but you are treated like royalty! It was sad they we had to leave as we really enjoyed the stay and the staff!
Nice hotel . Nice staff. Now waiting 30 minutes for main course in restaurant. Not exactly what you would expect from Radisson. Restaurant kess than half empty so nothing to do with being overrun with guests. Advertised as a goid hotel for business clientele and looking sround the restaurant it looks like i am not the only one waiting.
Location perfect for my business trip. Room sizes ok but very little difference between basic and business class room. Hotel restaurants/breakfast good and gym is ok but quite basic in terms of facilities. Not too far away from Mandela Square
Hotel was very clean, staff polite and very helpful. Located perfectly near Train Stratton to ORT, Pretoria etc. Near lots of good restaurants, cinema, shopping mall and theatre, library at the Sandton City Towers and Nelson Mandela Square - great!
I stay here frequently and on my last stay, Gerald Tlali went out of his way to accommodate a special request after a much delayed flight and a very late arrival at the hotel. Much appreciated. I don't usually leave reviews - but in this case, I wanted to note the exceptional commitment to quality service demonstrated by Gerald.
Home away from home! Everyone was phanomenal throughout our stay and going the extra mile. Especially, we loved how Sbusiso, Lucky and charming Simphiwe took care of us!!! Thanks and keep it up, Daniel
Superb hotel stay. Very comfortable and safe. Just 5mins walk to and fro Gautrain Sandton. The HUGE mall is also walkable, but the hotel provides shuttle service every half an hour. You can make use of it especially at night, they say it is safer to not walk. Love the breakfast spread, EVERYTHING was exceptional.
Great hotel. Location is excellent and service is superb. Rooms are massive and they have Nespresso machines if you're into coffee. The breakfast spread was amazing with a wide selection of food. Go and have a workout in the gym if you can before breakfast to work up a good appetite to fit in more breakfast.
