Fabulous sea view room with modern bathroom. Just a nice size with plenty of storage space. Staff could not be more friendly or helpful. Food very good. Could not find fault with anything. Hope to return.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the golden sands hotel. All the staff are very friendly, the room was nice and the food very good. St brelades bay is a lovely location as is jersey. We would recommend this hotel.
A fantastic hotel in a beautiful location we have been visiting for over 20 years. Sea view rooms outstanding. Everywhere clean and welcoming. Staff attentive efficient and very friendly. Following an accident the staff could not have done more for me.
We had the misfortune to stay at the 'Golden Sands' hotel. We were greeted by Steven who continuously complained that we had arrived too early and that our rooms were not ready as a consequence. We had booked through a travel firm and had no control over the time of our arrival. Meanwhile we were told to decide what time we wished to have dinner and he would work out a seating plan accordingly. We did not expect to be told we had to sit at the same table each and every evening. It would have been nicer had we been able to get to sit more of our fellow travellers. The beds are very comfortable but the rooms very basic. Thin plastic beakers for water? Very cramped rooms with barely any room surrounding the bed. Not what we would expect in a 4* hotel anywhere. The biggest let down was the menu. A choice of 3 starters, 3 mains and 3 desserts is not what we expect of a supposedly 4* hotel! The 'Grill Menu' clearly states that it can be used "in conjunction with Half Board Menu" and this was also stated in our 'welcome' letter. However, twice I asked for the 'Grill Menu' and was refused, once being told 'not tonight' and once being told that 'it is not for half board guests' We did not feel like welcome guests at all! The service was reasonable with excellent service from Rob from Durham. A 4* hotel? It is barely a 3*.
Great location, but with the room Smelling of the Chinese restraint next door. Room being next door to the staff quarters, above the bin and bottle store, being woken by noise at 5:30am. Not good value and left feeling so tiered and very disappointed.
We knew in advance that this was a dated hotel, but decided to see if the service made up for the lack of style. The room was basic, plastic cups for water, thin walls with little sound suppression and much as expected. Basically it felt like a B&B. The service was another matter altogether. The wifi routers were not working our floor and when we spoke with reception they insisted the issue was with our (six) devices, and suggested that we used the kids playroom for our work. In the playroom there was wifi but the speed was so slow we couldn't work, so we headed off to another venue. We had an early morning flight and were surprised that breakfast doesn't start until 8:00. We ordered room service the night before. On arrival the next morning there were no cups for the coffee and tea, no plates for the toast and the cereal was missing. I called reception who kept repeating that we should be using the dirty cups from the previous day, and whilst I don't find this acceptable, he didn't address the missing plates either. Maybe this was a bad day, but this strikes me as a hotel that is taking advantage of being in a good location but being operated for cash flow. Avoid.
This hotel shares the expansive beach with very few others so there is plenty of room for everyone, even on a busy day. And it is only a hop and a step away from the firm sand, with just a narrow promenade and no road between. So when in the bar or dining room you feel as if you were on a balcony of an exclusive liner. With a lift to all floors for the lazy and lovely peaceful walks from the doorstep for the energetic, it offers everything anybody could want and then more. And if this is what heaven is like, the lovely smile of Katriona in the dining room must mean that she is one of the angels there !
A truly Golden Experience ! A glorious view from our room with a balcony having easy access through a large sliding door. Excellent professionalism from all staff who were always ready to help but were warm and friendly too. Everything seemed very well organised and all areas were clean and comfortable, must mention not only the beds but the pillows too, which made for a really restful sleep! The food was very enjoyable. Well cooked and presented buffet breakfast and evening meals. The location of the hotel is lovely and offers a relaxing experience especially when having a. Offer or drink in the beach facing bsr with its balcony. We really enjoyed our stay st The Golden Sands!
Lovely hotel in lovely location but disappointed this year as hotel appears to have changed its policy re group bookings. We had to sit together and had a separate dinner menu which we couldn't deviate from. Choice of 1 meat, 1 fish or 1 vegetarian option each evening. Previous years we've been able to order from the grill menu and could also pay extra to upgrade our meals if we wished. Big part of the holiday in the past was the wonderful food. What a shame we felt a bit like the poor relations this year!
From arriving to leaving first class service, room with balcony and more important walk in shower,bed large and comfortable,tea and coffee making in room, 10/10.food and service both bar area and the restaurant 110/10.Hotel very Clean all over 10/10.The view from the balcony is fantastic on a clear day
