This lovely hotel sits right infront of the beautiful bay of St Brelade, with balconies that overlook the crystal blue and torquise sea, with its clean golden sands, warm, welcoming and professional staff, this makes you instantly feel relaxed and spoilt. We will be drawn back again to this beautiful bay and its warm sunny days and blue skies and long streached out beaches surrounded and protected by a back drop of green trees and wildlife.
Good points first. The location of this hotel is superb. Literally right on the beach. I didn't have a balcony room as they were booked up, but I didn't spend much time in my room anyway so it wasn't important. You don't miss what you've never had kinda thing. Wifi was excellent and room facilities perfect. The food was excellent, especially breakfast. All the usual hot and cold choices, plus the option to order from a menu. I also ate dinner one night and lunch another. Both good with a good variety on the menu. The only reason I haven't given a score of 5 was the attitude of some of the staff members. Although I personally did not have any issues, I witnessed some less than courteous behaviour. In the restaurant one customer complained that they had waited 1.5 hours for their meal and that their chips were raw. The manager dismissed their complaint and refused to take any action or recompense. All other customers could hear him and were cringing. Very unprofessional. I also heard several stories about one of the reception staff being very rude (a bald man). All other staff were great.
We went over for a family wedding and stayed at the Golden Sands for 7 days making a short holiday of the occasion. The hotel was excellent with good food and courteous staff. It was the first time I had stayed at a hotel in Jersey as before I stayed with relatives all now sadly passed away. Our room overlooking the bay could not have been better. Complaints of course. Hired a car and had to park it in the council car park opposite which was a bit of a pain ensuring you always had to make sure you had the correct time on your car parking ticket. One night I decided to treat my partner to a Lobster dinner. Booked the table for 7.30/8.00 but they said they only had 3 lobsters left and I would have to book for 6.30 and they would not save them for me. 6.30 was too early for us so we went to the hotel next door and spent £100 there instead. Otherwise hotel is a great hotel.
This a hotel situated very close to the beach with pleasant and helpful staff and good food. The bedrooms tend to be too hot and a fan was provided only on request. Parking cards had to be used in the public car park which although not expensive was a bit of a nuisance
To sit on the balcony and enjoy the scenery or dine at a table overlooking the sandy beach and sea and looked after by the most present staff is all I need and the Golden Sands has it all .This will be our our 8th year staying at The Golden Sands
We found hotel to be ideal position with fantastic views and overall a good value stay. Breakfasts were particularly good with lots of choice and efficient service. Unfortunately evening meals not so good quality and overpriced
Excellent service from front of house, bar, restaurant, room cleaning. Perfect room with seaview and balcony, great to see the boats and wonderful expanse of beach. Great location for a relaxing holiday. Regular bus service made getting round the island very easy. Food was of a very high standard. What made the week so good was the attitude of the staff who could not do enough for you in a friendly manner.
My sister and I took our mum and her sister to Jersey as they wanted to go back to see the places they used to go to on holiday when they were children. The Golden Sands Hotel in St Brelade's Bay is right on the beach, they have accessible rooms for people with mobility issues. The views over the beach are excellent and worth paying a little extra for as otherwise you are looking over a road and car park. The services was great staff very helpful and friendly. We also went to several other bays and did lots of walking on our trip. Jersey is beautiful and the people are very friendly and polite, I would have gone years ago if only I had known.
Great staff, but expensive- if going to keep these prices need to think about improving facilities/ refurb. Location is first class and maybe that is the primary driver for the prices however I have been here for three yrs running and have not seen any real investment in the hotel, esp considering the Ines either side have spa and pool facilities
This was our 5th stay at Golden Sands Hotel & the standards have dropped. I don't think wicker chairs in a superior room are ideal. Soft furniture would be more fitting. Everything else in the room and stay were excellent. The cleaning staff sorted the linen outside the lift which blocked the corridor and was a fire hazard.
