What an amazing island and resort. Would defiantly come back. The pools restaurants and bars amazing
A very mixed experience at this hotel -- pleasant location on Jan Thiel beach, very good staff, with some nice amenities like a private beach and pool, porches, etc. However, they made some weird choices in the design. European-only power outlets, terrible bathroom sink lighting, lots of unusable cabinet space, and most notably, the path to the private beach goes directly next to a very smelly sewage treatment facility! The units closest to the beach have less-usable porches as a result. Had an enjoyable stay despite this, but there are probably better options at this price point.
Relaxing Very clean Staff pleasant Great gym Convenient grocery store
We had an ocean front room. It was a perfect view! The hotel staff was extremely nice, especially Hector who greeted us with such a warm welcome. The beach is lovely and quiet, all of the guests were respectful of each others’ peace and quiet. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone. I am a frequent traveler traveler and I have high standards. Best restaurant on the beach is Zanzibar - pizza is so good! Also Zest has amazing Dutch pancakes.
The hotel itself is situated in a great location, but the rooms (especially the bathrooms) are in dire need of updating and modernization. The hotel also lacked basic amenities like conditioner. Only stay here if you can get an excellent deal or have a discount, otherwise the price is not worth what you get and there are far better deals at other hotels and rentals.
We stay in this hotel for 6 days. Overall we have a mix feelings with our stay. We booked an ocean front , ocean view room. First room we were given was a ground level room, according to them it was an ocean front, all you see were bushes and maybe a glimpse of an ocean if you stand in a chair. We requested to be move somewhere a bit higher up and Odette from the front desk was nice to have found as a room in a third floor from a different building. Mind you it was a hike as there were no elevators but thw view made it all worth it. The room was clean, we had a king size bed which had two twin mattresses put together, it did not bother as that much. Now the pillows were another thing, depending on what your use to. The pillows were too small and uncomfortable to us but we are use to big and plump pillows. We asked the bellman to give us 3 extra and he brought back two , which he's allowed. Later on we asked the housekeeping for more pillows and end up getting a letter from a management in not so many words telling us to stop asking for more pillows :). The room was quiet spacious but has a weird layout. Toilet is in a separate room, and no sink to wash your hands after. You will have to go around to the other side by the shower to use the sink. The garbage cans are very small if you have bigger garbage like boxes they will not fit. You get two pods for espresso machines each day and if you want more you have to pay. The gym was very nice just make sure you bring your to
The place surprised me with a nice ocean view room. Beautiful beach, nice and clean all around. Very family oriented. Quiet, if you like that? Food could be improved, honestly.
Check-In was quick and easy. I purchased an Ocean front room on the upper level but the room was on the ground floor. Really nice room but the view of the ocean was slightly blocked by trees. I explained to the staff and they quickly changed to an upper level room. The room was very clean with a large balcony facing the ocean (great view). All of the staff was very polite and helpful except for one lady (at the front desk) that had a slightly bad attitude. Her co-worker quickly stepped in to help me with my request resolving the issue (I requested additional sugar and expresso, nothing serious). The beach area was nice with plenty of space and polite staff and guest. The poolside bar has great drinks and food. I recommend this facility as I plan to visit again in the near future.
The hotel is beautiful and very modern, it's very European and much of the staff and 90 guests are from the Netherlands. There were almost no American guests which is fine with me, some people prefer Americanized resorts and this is not one. The hotel was beautiful, modern and clean. It was dead though, not a scene for young adults in groups, couples or singles it's very quiet . You have to pay for everything separately- no meals included and hotel breakfast is only 2 hours for $21 pp was not a good buffet. Omelette woman took like 30mins to make eggs. Also beach chairs are additional cost per day either at infinity pool or beach. There is a market on the same property but you can't bring outside food or drinks to beach or pool area. There is no nightlife at this hotel which is fine depending on your style. You would think there would be by the look of it. It is about a 10-15 minute taxi ride ($20usd) to get to anywhere for fun, then when you're out there is no way to get home taxis do not run regularly. Rent a car if you stay here, lots of car rental Options on sight. Staff were very friendly Bed was SO comfortable There are a lot of eating and drinking options nearby on the beach, most was expensive. Also I thought it was adults only but there were kids and babies around so I'm not sure how that happened.
