Had a fantastic week here ...Villa was immaculate...we went half board and food choices were outstanding..three main areas to sun bath ...beach(rocks)/lagoon and outdoor pool... indoor pool also ....lots to do should you choose to ..staff couldn't be more helpful and definitely made every effort to ensure our holiday was great....only one small complaint and that was outdoor pool needed to be cleaned daily.. definitely will be back this time to a villa with jacuzzi....
Great place, pleasant stuff, interesting beaches. Cool for families with small kids. You can relax and enjoy here. There are plenty of activities and it's safe place. You have a lot of restaurants here. :)
The biggest problem with traffic is the on-site traffic. Only "ZG...." and local cars were driven over the park at an objectionable high speed. The second problem is: I think it is ridiculous to pay 3300 Euros for 1 week for one appartement in Istria and a plastic sunbathing deck per day in the park's beach is 3 Euros extra!? The loud music of the local disco bar disrupted the dreams of many family after 23 o'clock. It is also a problem that guests of the local campsite and anyone can walk in and use the beach without payment. Smoking is not regulated in restaurants. The grass shear in the morning at 8.15 am cruel noisy.
This holiday was a complete and utter disappointment in terms of accommodation, facilities, service, beaches and everything else customers typically consider important in a holiday destination. Let us begin with the accommodation. The first thing that immediately startled us upon arrival was the distinctly unpleasant smell that seemed to penetrate the whole area of what was supposed to be a villa. This, in conjunction with the unclean surfaces, led to a feeling of caution and even disgust whenever we were inside, not comfort that one seeks in a holiday villa. However, we were not surprised this was the case when we had the pleasure to encounter the cleaning services. Firstly, on our first day, the cleaning staff turned up at a rather early hour when most of our family members were asleep and, when asked to return later, objected, justifying themselves with having other villas to clean. On most of the next days, on the other hand, they did quite the opposite - instead of coming during the hours when the villa was free (as was clearly indicated by us through switching off the 'do not disturb' button), they chose to come as soon as we returned from the beach and turned it back on. This rather paradoxical behaviour in terms of customer service was also complemented by the mediocre quality of their cleaning. The whole process took them 7 minutes at best, which should leave you wondering how they managed to accomplish anything remotely close to cleanness. Furthermore, the villas were deprived of any sense of privacy due to another two or three villas facing ours within the radius of no more than 20 meters without any kind of barrier. Now, the beach. There were several options in terms of beaches, however, the only one that seemed somewhat suitable was under the trees, as very few of the other areas contained any sort of coverage from the sun. The sunbeds were extremely uncomfortable. In order to get towels, you had to go all the way to the indoor pool area and pay a deposit for each towel (which is simply ridiculous). The sea was almost impossible to swim in because of its shallowness and rocks sticking out, which could easily lead to injury or at least severe discomfort. It was particularly striking and irritating how such a large and naturally diverse area could have possibly been used in such a stupid and irrational area. The large Aqua Chillout area outside the reception was constantly unused as anyone who would want to use it would be fried to death in the sun (which could be easily fixed by acquiring umbrellas). The villas were always incredibly hot, no matter how long the conditioning was left on for. We practically never turned it off and the temperature never descended below 26C, which is just not acceptable. Last but not least, the kitchen was equipped very poorly. There was hardly any space to place anything on the countertop, let alone cook. The knives were blunt and there was no chopping board. We do realize that this might have been done to encourage dining in restaurants, though if you do offer a possibility of cooking in the villa, at least provide the customers with minimal equipment. Overall, this was the worst holiday of our lives - do not let all the positive reviews mislead you to commit the fatal mistake as we did this year.
At a first glance I was very disappointed when I arrived. The whole area is quite open and can be accessed by anybody using the public beach and the lake. For my surprise, it worked really well and you don't see the crowds from the beach coming to the hotel area. The area is beautiful, surrounded by a lot of trees and an amazing sea view. The villas are quite comfortable though simple. The common areas are extremely well maintained - big kudos to the maintenance team. There's a small supermarket in the entrance of the complex so you prepare you own meal if you want, though I recommend trying the grill restaurant by the pool. We got a villa facing the lake which was ok, but the ones closer to the pool are quieter and nicer.
Having missed out on my first choice accommodation during my European holidays (due to work), we managed to book a holiday apartment at the Sol Amfora resort, situated within the Stella Maris resort in Umag, Northern Croatia. I hate driving during the summer months on European highways as the risk is always there one will inevitably get stuck in one hell of a traffic jam! We flew from Brussels on SN Brussels Airways, which turned out to be cheaper than RyanAir! (now there's a first for you!). Rented a car from Sixt (less than half price when compared to Avis and Hertz!). Drove down to Croatia from Venice Marco Polo airport. Trip takes normally 2 1/2 hrs. crossing two borders in 30 kms. (Italy - Slovenia - Croatia). Checked into our apartment, which had a nice view over the lagoon where a variety of pleasure craft were moored. Regretfully we did not choose our weekend wisely as the resort also hosts an annual ATP tournament which brought along its own species of visitors, which also happened to reside at the resort! The result was drunken, rowdy neighbours whose only ambition was to party to the early hours of the morning. The next morning, I popped up to reception where a very professional and friendly receptionist explained the ATP event to me and the temporary inconvenience we would have to experience. However, I did explain that I would like to move to a more quieter area. Alba, the receptionist who dealt with my complaint turned out to be fantastic and very helpful as she went immediately to her Senior Front desk manager Ankica, also a real professional and they ensured we could move across to the 5* Melia Bungalow resort (also in the same complex but on the other side) at no extra cost. Travelling a lot, I get regular upgrades however, this one was special as I had my family with me on holiday. It really meant a lot to me, for which my thanks ladies!. I would strongly recommend you call the resort and ask them to assist with your reservation. The information we received at reception was very useful throughout our holiday. The Melia bungalows were roomy, great and peaceful! Daily cleaning and golf carts to help with moving luggage from the car parks to the bungalows, all part of the service! The resort itself has plenty of activities and a good choice of restaurants depending on your particular preference. Generally the pricing was very acceptable for a holiday resort with family meals ranging from Euro 10-15 per hearty meal and 3 Euros for 50cl. draft beer. Water and soft drinks were cheap at around Euro 1,5. Activities included motor boats, scuba diving, jet skiing also very reasonably priced when considering high season prices in other parts of Europe. We hired a motorboat for an hour and paid Euro 35..... There is a price difference between the two resorts (both owned by Melia), choose wisely and don't forget to call the resort reception for advice! Happy holidays!!!! PS. As the Zulu proverb said... it really ended well.... Croatia is well worth a visit!
For our first summer holidays with small children we have decided to go here. In essence it is a very big resort of different accommodations with huge variety of activities you can choose. We also had a breakfast at the Stella Maris Restaurant. It offers classical breakfast buffet. Pros: - villas are separated from other accommodations - you also have a private outdoor space at the villa; - service is very decent (cleaning, transportation of luggage) - a lot of possibilities for different activities Cons: - laguna beach is very crowded - at the breakfast we were missing “bio/eco” products
Beautifully done stone houses with outdoor space, flowers, closenes to the see, views, hospitallity of the staff, facilities, pool, restaurant, no car zone, walking paths, child frendly, pacefull. All in all a 10!
Our family visited the villa for last 10 years, using them as a summer residence for the vacations. Advantages: Excellent combination of sea and pine air, large green area, clean sea, good-quality food, friendly Croats, unobtrusive animation for children and adults, the opportunity to play tennis, bicycling, roller skating, skateboarding, swimming and sunbathing, excellent sports activities (special thanks to Vanja Gojkovic), qualified massage in the tent (especially thanks to master Xenia and Lucia). You also can go for shopping in Italy or on a trip to Venice. Disadvantages: villas equipment in need of repair and replacement, very weak and superficial cleaning of the rooms, the high price of rooms, poor discount program for permanent guests, lack of beauty salon.
The apartment is very nice and modern. You cannot go wrong with the villas. Gread for avoiding the crowded standard hotels. The only complaint I would have is that the beach is not very comfty, not easy to bathe. The breakfast here is fine but not worth it's price and the crowd is almost overwhelming.
