Having just spent the last 5 weeks travelling in Israel, Greece and Turkey and staying in some pretty good hotels I decided, after looking at some Qantas reviews, to book three nights here in the "Exective Suite". I arrived in the early afternoon to be told that the suite we had booked and paid for was, for some reason, unavailable. We were offered the "Deluxe Suite" instead with the offer of a free drive to the airport when we leave (the equivalent of about AUS$10) as compensation for the inconvenience which of course didn't cover the difference in cost between the two rooms. The next morning we attended the dining room for breakfast. The breakfast was one of the worst I've had. The food was very second rate, the tables were dirty, and the staff were rude and unprofessional. We will give breakfast a miss in future even though we paid for it. We then decided to attend the sauna. It was turned off and there were dirty towels strewn around the changing room floor. We decided to get some laundry done. It was returned promptly to our room having been properly washed and clean. The only problem was that it was still damp. We had to ask for it to be rewashed and dried properly. We were then informed that the "Executive Suite" was now ready. The TV in this room was slightly bigger than in the "Deluxe Suite" (which was the size of the average computer screen). I decided I would make a cup of tea. There was an electric jug, there were cups, but there was no tea bags, coffee, sugar, or milk. I contacted reception to have these basic items sent up to us and am still waiting. I went to the bathroom. The bench top was overhead in dirt and dust. In other words, it hadn't been cleaned properly. I asked to speak with the manager but he was away as it was Sunday and there was no one else available to talk to. There was a form in the room entitled "Would you share your impression with us". I opened the form only to discover that it had already been filled in by another guest who expressed the same views that I had formed. Namely, that this hotel is of the lowest standard. I can only say BEWARE, this hotel is a shocker. There was absolutely NOTHING I could recommend about it. STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE!
Got here to Istanbul for 12 nights. Check in and was told we had to move to another hotel 10 mins down the road as our room had a faulty AC and this could be for a few days and each morning return for breakfast. The attitude of reception staff was appauling we were stood out on the street with all our luggage and 2 young children aged 5 and 1 with no help from the staff apart from laughing at us. I will be fighting for a full refund and compensation as to be out on the street at 2 am with young kids in an unknown country is not acceptable. We have had to find another hotel and drag our luggage with kids I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, if anything they should be removed off all the hotel search websites.
Everything in this hotel is small- from the elevator to the rooms to the beds and showers. Location is central and convenient. The breakfast has no hot things other than boiled and scrambled eggs. Would not recommend.
The food is bad, elevator was always full - plus the stairs are located outside of a building, can't be used while it is raining. Do not take room 224 on the second floor or any other room with windows facing inner part of the building, it has a very realistic FAKE sky, you wont sleep at night since there is no air and the conditioner can't help. Conditioners are placed terrible there is 80% chance you will catch cold since the conditioners are pointed to you. I attach a photo of this FAKE sky - I got tricked first day and discovered that it is fake in the morning when it was switched on, the whole night I was tortured by insomnia
check in was very fast although it was at 23;00 no info was given. when i book the executive room i want it because has bath jacuzzi but unfortunately wasn't working , i report it to the lady who was offering me lovely tours and she was very helpful but was not fixed. Evening time i notice that they came to my room to check the jacuzzi as i saw small parts in the bin , but they didn't clean the floor afterwards. No more answers about that . Upon arrival is just a silly thing but i ordered a bottle of water in my room to be delivered on the following day , still im waiting for it , but they didn't charge to my room. Pool was very good also the staff are friendly , the house mates even if they don't speak english are very friendly and keep on smiling . Food at the buffet was ok but as a 4 star i would expect something more , but i believe is a matter of different cultures. Very important to put names on the food . there was not even one single tag in the buffet for breakfast. My room was 507 and the first impression once you coming out from the small lift is like ,,, omg the carpets needs a maintenance . Over all was ok and good to say that the air conditioning was very good at the room. As a 4 star a d booking the executive room i would expect a bit more but once again i believe is a matter of different cultures . Istanbul itself as a city is beautiful and the food is amazing . very cheap and the grand bazar is something totally unique . i would love to stay again there in the same room 507 but please make sure the facilities at the room are fully functional . thanks

I am a regular visitor to Istanbul. I visit my family half way and we gather in Istanbul in group of 8-10 people . First impression was extremely disappointing. We arrived at 7 am and the member of staff at reception was having his breakfast at the desk; we found it quite uncomfortable to disturb his breakfast with the look he gave us. We asked if we can check in any earlier and he replied with a simple, "no," despite the fact that we had an elderly person and 2 children. We went downstairs for breakfast and when we came back up to the lobby, the reception staff had changed and there was a lady with a great smile, very polite and with no difficulties we checked in straight away. It was a completely different attitude and she was one of those people who could put a smile on your a face, whatever the situation. Anytime we came to reception for any type of advise or if we needed an address there no trouble at all. The first night in our room, we discovered that the hotel just 15 metres away had an extremely loud disco which closed at 5-6am. Especially after working until late Friday evening and then flying all night we were all exhausted so we went and told the man at reception but it was a complete waste of time so we left it. The next day, Gökgen (the friendly woman previously mentioned) was there and with no difficulties our room had been moved and we were as happy as we could be. On the fourth day of our stay another member of our family joined us and he arrived at 6 am. We thought that since we had two rooms already, he could come and stay in one of them until we're able to get the third room we had already paid for. The man at reception (Güney Orbek, the same man that we had), refused to let him upstairs unless we paid extra. So me and my sister (his wife) went down and sat with him in the lobby until the staff changed and obviously, Gökgen Özbir could not do enough to please costumers and with no problem we went into our rooms and then we recieved the key to our third room at 10 am. I going abroad minimum 4 times a year and I know about the check in and check out policy but when there is a free room, most hotels let you have it because it's just good service to make sure they get a good review and to just be polite. I own my own business and reception is basically the face of the business, first impressions are the most important and if it wasn't for Mrs Gökgen effort and attention to detail we would have left with nothing but the worse memories. All of us think Mrs Gökgen should be best the employee of the year, never mind the month because the qualities she gave to the business is priceless. After all these problems, the hotel is in the heart of Istanbul and that means it is close to most major attractions and with the help of Mrs Gökgen, your trip will be so much easier as you will know everything about it.
