I am a Turkish-American female solo traveler (living in the USA) with 10 years of hospitality experience at Marriotts in the USA. I also worked at different hotels in Turkey. This was, without question, the WORST hotel experience I have ever had. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND AVOID THIS PROPERTY AT ALL COSTS.
Here is why:
1. The hotel is extremely old and poorly maintained. I was shown three different rooms, and every single one smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. I don’t have asthma, but I still couldn’t tolerate the level of odor.
2. The front desk staff was rude, dismissive, and arrogant. Instead of helping or acknowledging issues, their attitude was “take it or leave it.”
3. My assigned room was on the first floor. On a Tuesday night, loud bar/disco music started around 11:00 PM and continued for several hours. I later discovered there was a bar directly underneath my room. Sleeping was impossible.
4. The bathroom was in unacceptable condition: there was a cockroach trap in plain sight, the shower was very old and uncomfortable to use, and the door to the room didn’t close securely—it felt unsafe.
5. When I addressed my concerns to the front desk the next morning, the staff’s reaction was shockingly unprofessional. They showed no concern, admitted they knew about the issues, and essentially told me nothing would be done. Their dismissive attitude made it clear that guest experience is NOT a “priority”.
Bottom line: DON’T JUST WALK—RUN AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL.
