The room was old with a minuscule bathroom. The restaurants at the hotel also weren’t very good. There was a cover charge (even for hotel guests) to have a drink at the sky bar which reeked of cigar smoke. It was conveniently located by the station and the staff were very helpful and nice, but overall a very tired property.
This was my lowest hotel experience in Japan for the following reasons: - I received one room (1605), which was so old that you could even not change the temperature in your room. - from my room, I could hear the trains outside!!! - I complain and I got one new room (1602), which was a bit more "up to date" - No one speak english, except of one person at the reception, but she is the ONLY one! - I went to the Bar and they offer a very low commercial wine for 1'700 Yen and NO one speak english and they even do not try to understand you. - no one smile and no warm "welcome" at the reception desk - Overall the hotel looks very OLD and it is not worth for this price! This was my LOWEST hotel experience (considering the EXPENSIVE price paid) during my roundtrip in Japan. I am sure you can find better hotels around. Based on my long hotel experience, I strongly suggest to NOT stay here. Please be aware and double check other hotel solutions (e.g. I had a cocktail at Hotel Nikko Kanazawa - just in front of the hotel - and it was just perfect!!!).
We stayed at this hotel for two nights in early July. Upon check-in, the room we were given was not suitable. Looked out over an air conditioning unit. We asked for a new room and were immediately given a new room on a higher floor and upgraded. This is a very well located hotel for all things to do in Kanazawa. Our room was very comfortable and the bathroom/shower was excellent. Ask for a room on the higher floors/renovated. Thank you for a great stay.
We chose CP Kanazawa mostly because of its proximity to the train station and bus terminal (1-min walk for buses, 2-min for Shinkansen and 3-min for JR). When we booked the hotel, we were a bit concerned about the situation of the room after reading some reviews on TripAdvisor. Fortunately, none of them turned on to be real. Check-in was speedy and we were offered room upgrade and bottled water for being IHG Platinum. One of the staff escorted us to the room and made sure it was up to our expectation. I was pleasantly surprised that our luggage, sent the day prior from NRT, is already in the room. The room (superior twin on the top floor) itself was large by Japanese standard, and had a large window overlooking the east side of the train station. The beds were comfortable and they offered several kinds of different pillow options (part of Sleep Advantage). Our main concern, the bathroom being dated and unclean, turned out to be mostly untrue. The bathroom did look a bit dated comparing to the other part of the room, and the Toto bidet was a really old model. However, the bathroom looked a lot nicer than the pictures on TripAdvisor. It was also spotlessly clean. Most of the amenities were made in Japan, unlike the made in China ones in SPG hotels in Japan. Being a business hotel, CP Kanazawa definitely lives up to it. Our room had 12 usable (excluding those used by appliances) power outlets with 5 additional USB sockets. The Internet was blazing fast - about 90 Mbps. However the Internet was unencrypted, so I opted for tethering instead. The bar at the top floor had an intimate atmosphere, the staff was courteous, but the night view was only OK (Kanazawa being a small city). We didn't try the restaurants in the hotel, as there were a lot of food options nearby. My only (and minor) complains are the dated bathroom, unsecured Wi-Fi and that the tap water (even boiled) tasted funny. Generally, CP Kanazawa greatly exceeded my expectation of a Crowne Plaza property. I would highly recommend it for trips to the Hokuriku region.
We stayed at this centrally located hotel on a four day (three night) visit to Kanazawa. We were thoroughly pleased with the staff, the room and the location. One of the reasons we picked the hotel was that it was close to the train station, which allowed us to easily walk with our luggage to and from the station when arriving (by bus) from Komatsu. In fact, we arrived much earlier than planned -- at 10 am rather than 3:30 pm -- and the reception staff was able to find a room for us that was ready. We didn't use any of the restaurant facilities, as there are so many choices available nearby, but noticed that they all seemed busy. If we return to Kanazawa we will surly stay here again.
This hotel is ideally located right next to the train station, literally a 2 minute walk. We booked a superior double room for 2 nights. The room was neat and clean, the beds were comfy but the overall size of the room was a bit small. Breakfast was also included with our particular booking and there was a good selection of both western and traditional Japanese options. We also dined in their Japanese restaurant for one of the nights we stayed. We had a set menu and it was of very good quality, particularly the sashimi. It is also close to the Forus shopping mall, which has a level of restaurants on the 6th floor.
After Tokyo, Kanazawa is a very different city. That being said, the hotel did not quite meet my expectations for the price. The staff is very friendly and the amenities are enough (currency exchange rate is very good) but the view wasn't great, it smelled a little of smoke, and was a little noisy and cramped. I come from a suburb so this is expected of a 3.5 star hotel in a suburban area so if you're coming from Tokyo be prepared for something of mediocre class. It wasn't a horrible experience and the room was comfortable it just wasn't outstanding.
Room is smaller than expected and a bit old. I find the toilet bowl not clean enough when I stay. Higher quality is expected for this hotel. Location wise the place is walking distance to train station and mall (Forus). Easy access to shopping and eatery.
Virtually next door to the JR station, with many restaurants around. We originally booked a room with description that claims has large double bed (had a picture when I booked) AND can sleep a child in the room as well (picture shows a sofa at the corner). After checking in, we found the room not quite fit the description and the bed is rather small, I do not believe there is any room for a child if we brought one, worst of all, this is during the Japanese Golden Week holiday and we booked two nights. Unfazed, my wife went to the front counter to see if there is a room we can switch to. It took the front staff a few moments to conference and they apologized for the inaccuracy of the online description and offered to upgrade us to a suite with ¥5,000 additional charge per night, no brained here, we took the suite. They even sent a staff to help us move, when we tried to tip him, he sternly refused, I was very impressed with the service. The hotel is a bit old, the first room we had showed the age. We are staying with three other friends, they all claim their rooms are newly renovated. My guess is the renovation is on going, some of the rooms have not been renovated yet. The hotel cater to wedding banquets and parties as well, there are a few nice restaurants on premises, bus station is near and plenty of taxies. It is not that close to major tourist sites like 21st Century Museum and Kenrokuen or the Tea House district, they are however easily reachable with a 10 min taxi ride or 15-20 minutes by bus.
The hotel room was spacious, the service efficient, the breakfast large and wholesome, and best of all literally next to the railway station. We were staying in the hotel for an overnight transit stay and it served the purpose beautifully well. All in all, a great value for money
