Cabin Cove on the river

Take a step back in time when you enter our little log cabin by the river. Built in 1949, this cabin is a replica of the log cabins built by the gold seekers of Alaska. Though modern in most aspects we have retained the native charm of unfinished wood, rough, hand-hewn logs and naked beams. The inspiration for the cabin was found by my great grandfather who spent time in Alaska working on the Alcan highway. You will find evidence of its Canadian heritage throughout the cabin.
The cabin sits up on a gently sloping cliff and offers excellent views of the river. Enjoy a glass of wine on the dock and relax as you watch the sun set.
We love hosting and enjoy sharing the peace and serenity of this beautiful place. If you need anything at all, don’t hesitate to reach out!
The cabin is air-conditioned and features a kitchen and a patio, and there's space to spread out with 2 bedrooms. Guests can enjoy a Smart TV and stay connected with free WiFi. Other standard amenities include a washing machine, a fireplace, and a coffee maker.

The age and history of this cabin is part of the charm! The landings to sit and relax by the water was wonderful. tWe truly enjoyed watching he deer and birds every morning and evening.The only thing missing in this cabin is a dishwasher otherwise it is perfect! We stayed here because I was working in Cedar Falls and in Ames and this was a good halfway point. It is so peaceful by the river and the host was very accommodating. My husband lives with a physical disability and doesn't handle stairs well; this place has no stairs and was very accessible and worked well for him. Our dog loved it too, plenty of green space. A lovely spot in a small town, one of our favorite stops. Thank You!

The property was clean, and the bathroom had been remodeled and the mattresses changed since our last stay. Also, I'm pretty sure we left 2 Iowa Chops in the freezer. I think they fell behind the ice bin. Feel free to eat them. We just purchased them on Friday.
