I stayed at the Hotel Helena for one week and was made to feel very welcome by the owners Theo and Anna. They both go out of their way to make the guests feel comfortable. My room on the first floor had a lovely view of the beach and sea from the balcony and you could watch the ferries coming into the little harbour throughout the day. It is situated in a quiet little road just off the beach, there are a number of bars and restaurants all along the front and for the price of a drink you can use the beach umbrellas and sun beds all day long. The room was comfortably furnished with air conditioning and a fridge ,hair dryer, two single beds and a shower room and toilet, it also has free wifi throughout the building. Anna keeps the rooms spotless and towels and bed linen are changed daily. There are a number of self catering apartments available for families or friends. This is a very reasonably priced hotel given it's position and I would highly recommend it for value and atmosphere. There is a bus stop in the harbour and frequent buses take you up to the main Village for 1-80 euros, or you could walk up the'Donkey Steps' but it's a bit of a climb, not so bad coming down and the view is well worth it. I cannot wait to return to IOS and will definitely be booking my seaview room at Hotel Helena next year!
Perfectly located 5mins walk from ferry, great rooms very clean. Excellent price. Staff was nice and waited for my ferry at 1am to do the check in. Not too far from IOS town center but recommend use a taxi during hot days. Market and several restaurants nearby.
Good location - a minute from Yiorgos beach and about 5 minutes from the Port. A 10-15 minute walk up some "steep" steps to the main town / Chora. Wi-Fi / Internet was really fast for us on both phones and laptop! Steady and stable and accessible from our room. Staff were really friendly and approachable.
Stayed at the Hotel Helena for 5 days with family and friends and we had a fantastic time. It's a family run hotel close to the port and the beach within easy access to bars and restaurants. The rooms were comfortable and very clean and the owners very friendly and extremely helpful. Would definitely go back to IOS and for sure stay there again. I certainly recommend this hotel! Thanks to everyone at Hotel Helena specially George and Sophie for making sure we had a pleasant stay and for making our holidays one to remember :-) Hope to see you all again some day !!!
My wife and I stayed for 4 nights, whilst visiting Ios for a family wedding, our room was lovely, everything was so clean and friendly.Being so close to the beach and bars and restaurants, it was ideal. We hope to come back next year for a longer sta.
The Hotel is located only 60 m away from the beach. A perfect location for vacations on Ios. The rooms are very well equipped and very clean. Everything what you need is there. And especially to mention the welcoming and helpful members of the family who are running the hotel. A strong recommendation!
My husband and I just arrived at this hotel that we booked via hostelbookers and although the location is great, the first thing we could told was "uhm we got a problem with your reservation, you are supposed to pay double, because its high season". Although i had the confirmed booking from hostelbookers for twice the price including payment for booking confirmation they were not going to give me the promised rate. And that although i emailed them a few days ago asking for confirmation and whether i can pay the remainder in cash upon arrival, which they said yes to. No mention of an extra price at all. When i said i wasnt going to pay they said it wasnt their fault because hostelbookers hadnt updated their prices and that i couldnt honestly believe to get the hotel for this price (half!). So because its last minute and everything is even more expensive now we were forced to pay and stay with no discount or freebies for our trouble. They acted like i was dumb to think this was the rate and that i could never find a hotel anywhere else in high season for under their charge. Yeah maybe not now anymore but almost 7 months ago when i booked i could have for sure! I am so dissappointed and cannot recommend this place. The hotel itself is ok and pretty clean but the attitude of the hotel staff/owner is unbelievable!
The owners were so lovely, a small little hotel, basic but perfect for what I needed, a short walk to the main village! Very clean new towels everyday, if you are noises this isn't the hotel for you, it is very chilled and peaceful! Very close to the port and bus stop near by to get to other beaches although there is a beach next to the hotel too!
Enjoying a second stay at this family owned and run hotel. This time we have got a room with a small kitchenette on the ground floor. Just handy for breakfast or a light snack. As previously mentioned the owners kept the place spotless and well maintained. They do a good menu selection and drinks. The beach and sea views look good as before.
We were there at the end of the season and it was very quiet which suited us. The owners are lovely, very accommodating and friendly. A minute walk to the beach. Simple furnishings but everything is spotlessly clean and tidy. Just booking our flights to go back next spring. Highly recommended.
