Whilst I was planning my itenary for a 7 days trip to Kerela this was d first hotel I saw online and it happen to take my heart away. Since I requested them for a mintain view too they made sure it was taken care off , and best was since we arrived late around 11 pm and it was much rainy the hotel staff made sure they call us prior hand and keep food prepared for us since we were already coming from a long drive from tekkady to munnar. Everything about this place is so Mesmerizing. I can't be thank full enough to the staff to make it more memorable for my first experience...
Deshadan is one of the best and finest resorts in which we have stayed.Infact, the best part of our whole kerela vacation was staying there only😊. A very well planned site, view of the rooms are extremely beautiful. We couldn't stop ourselves from clicking pictures. Staff and their Hospitality were extremely overwhelming. Big thumbs up!!! 👍 A must stay.. you will surely not regret. PS: I generally don't write reviews anywhere but had to do for Deshadan. Well deserving.
Booked 'Mountain view' room. Looked great online with good reviews. Arrived in Munnar & was glad to be staying out on the hills as all the hotels in town looked crowded & noisy. Rd up to the resort is quite bumpy & needs a lot of work but when you reach the top it's rewarding. Pros: The manager Lalu is delightful. Check in was easy & the staff helpful. The room was a great size for one person. Very neat & tidy. Amazing rain shower head. Balcony doors open up to the most lovely view! And birds a plenty. Tasty buffet breakfast! Cons: You can hear your neighbours. Room 102 is above kitchen so strong smells waft into the room. There's no fan so room got hot at night as I kept doors closed. There were quite a few small cochroaches. All up its a great place to stay. Really cosy for 2nights.
Chose this place based on the reviews on TripAdvisor, however, I would say I was not disappointed at all for the mesmerizing and cool views from the resort (rooms). The resort as they call it is a hill-top resort, a small property, at a max an acre of space inclusive of built up and non-built up area, the road to reach the property is treacherous and small, you need to drive in 1st gear only. The disappointment to us was that this room was booked for a family of 3 adults and 1 kid for which specifically they have had advertised on the websites as a room with 1 king size bed, and additional bed for the 3rd adult, however, we figured out that the bed size was just around the queen size bed, when inquired, the manager was totally unaware and seemed mesmerized by our ask. He even tells us that we do not get instructions on the size of the room booked, which is totally aghast to hear. It is pure common sense to allocate a bigger/bigger size of the bedroom to guests who are more in number, for this mistake of the manager we had to spend a day's time in a smaller bed. I'd suggest one not to really try the food there, which is just loaded with too much of ginger in everything and once when we ordered Navrathan Korma as our side dish, received a dish with loads of ginger and some of the fruits which were totally spoilt. In short, good for a stay for 2 - 3 days, though it is pricey, I'd suggest strongly to avoid goof ups and improve upon the restaurant.
We stayed two nights here. As advertised, the views from room are nice. The balcony opens to a mountain (stay in the rooms on top floor). You will see the sunset clearly, the rooms face west. Balcony was spacious, has comfortable chairs to enjoy the view, listen to the chirping of birds while sipping a cup of hot tea. Rest of the room and facilities were okay, they are a bit old and have had their glory days. Rooms have a fan. It is better to get into resort by 6PM max.. Road is difficult and narrow. There is nothing nearby, so plan for dinner in the resort. We ordered dinner both days and liked the taste. Try the malabar biriyani! The management told us the road will be fixed in the next few months. I really hope they do it soon, this is the only grey part of an otherwise awesome resort.
Spacious rooms with beautiful view. The resort is on top of the mountain. Delicious food at the restaurant and a separate recreational activity room. Mr. Lalu was very nice and helpful. Helped arrange our day trips and packed us sandwiches during our kodokkumalai visit. Mr. Abhilash, Nobin and other people of the staff were also very nice. WiFi was unstable and spring mattresses in the rooms were little uncomfortable. Everything else was great
I visited this property on Feb 20th 2018 with my family. We had occupied two rooms. Few things which Deshadan staff are not trained on or could not handle. 1) Check-in time delayed by 45 minutes. They made us to wait providing reason that they are getting the rooms ready. But both rooms had bad smell in it. After making us wait for almost an hour we did not expect this response from them. 2) Bathrooms are very smelly, drainage clogged and water was over flowing inside. Staff did not fix it and mentioned the entire property is filled and we are running out of staff as of now and chucked the matter. 3) Cockroaches in plenty inside bathroom 4) No power supply!! only in our building in the afternoon as mentioned by staff. Almost 2hrs without power in high temperature afternoon !! 5) Rooms - 101, 102, 1043 and 201, 202 and 203 should be avoided. These rooms are in single building and very old. Not well maintained. More over it is right above the kitchen which is not sound proofed. Very noisy entire stay. What ever cooked in the kitchen had to be smelled by customers !! Just not done..... 6) Parking lot has lot of local drivers who dont care about customer vehicles. They damaged my car when it was parked inside hotel premises. Hotel staff saw this and they did not do anything saying all these drivers come from local union and we also dont like to talk to them. Holidays are meant to make good memories......!!! If in Munnar, better avoid this property if you want to have a good holiday. As marketed by Deshadun management, this property is in good location but very bad maintenance and rude staff. Visit at you OWN RISK
We spent 2 nights here; the resort is very beautiful . It has 02 Bed room cottages and rooms which made it a quiet and calm stay. No need to have air conditioned rooms since the climate is always cool and perfect to enjoy. The resort is considered as the highest resort in Munnar. View from the rooms was really amazing. All the staff provided great service and was very attentive to our needs. The rooms are very spacious. The restaurant catered to our various diet needs very well. The food was delicious. The manager is extremely helpful in organizing small tracking to the mountain We would definitely recommend staying in this resort.
The resort is nice. Highest resort in south India - as claimed by the hotel. Pros: Nice view because of its height. Room size is OK. Cons: The size of bed is small and overall uncomfortable. Breakfast is just fine and overall restaurant taste is OK.
Had booked this hotel through MMT from 12th Feb to 14th Feb. My booking was confirmed. Just day before check-in hotel management called me up to inform that they won't be able to accommodate me due to some maintenance issue. It was unusual as MMT was not aware of it. I called up MMT regarding the same and till the last moment my booking was confirmed as per MMT. When I reached the hotel for check-in, hotel management was not ready to show the room which had leakage issue and instead they were offering alternate accommodation in some other hotel. While I was on property I asked one of the hotel staff about leakage issue and he denied of knowing such issue. Truth is hotel management had given all rooms to foreign guest ( at very high price) and deliberately canceled my booking and tried to shift me to other hotel without informing MMT. After multiple follow up and calls MMT gave me some alternate accommodation. It was a horrible experience.
