Leisure Inn Pokolbin Hill

Just had a great weekend in the Hunter, we were looking for a nice place to stay that was private and central and the Leisure inn worked out well. The accommodation is simple and a little dated but practical and very convenient. The rooms are spread out in separate buildings with a small living area ample bathroom and double bedroom. Each building has two separate rooms that can be hired and accessed through an internal door so great for couples and families. The best bit is you can easily walk to so many places, restaurants shops bars and wineries without having to worry about driving after the wine tasting. We also went to a concert at the Roche estate which is across the road so couldn't have been easier.

We went to the Hunter Valley to celebrate my birthday, after a stopover to see my family in the Newcastle region. The Leisure Inn has some units owned by the Wyndham group which is how we came to stay there as we took advantage of one of their grab it deals, so we got an excellent deal for 4 nights accommodation. I really liked the property it was very peaceful. There were individual dwellings with 2 units in each, so you really only had one close neighbour. Ours was a one bedroom abode and I believe the unit next door was a studio. Our unit was very comfortable, the bed was large and provided a good nights sleep, there was a television in the bedroom which was good for watching morning shows or a late night movie. The lounge had a fold out couch, a TV and DVD player and two chairs that were very cool. The kitchen had a full size fridge, microwave and a cooktop. The bathroom was very sizeable and had a spa bath, hair dryer and fluffy white towels. Other facilities were a tennis court, pool, games room and restaurant. It was a good location for a base, an easy walk to the Hunter Valley Gardens, Roche Estate and Pokolbin Village. There is also An Irish Pub nearby. There are often concerts in the Hunter and it is an easy walk to both Hope Estate and the Roche Estate which was hosting Live on the weekend. I'm not sure if it was because we were there during the week, but it was lovely and peaceful. There were ducks that would come visit and on the morning of our departure we had a family of kangaroos near our room. There is plenty to do in the Hunter Valley and I would stay there again.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom and in was clean comfortable and fairly updated. all the units were pretty private and the facilities were good. the boys made use of the pool and the tennis courts. PS the kitchens are tiny but done the job. this isn't a complaint. We are staying there again next year.

Leisure Inn is at best a 2 star hotel its is poorly maintained and generally untidy yet they saw fit [as did many other hotels in the area] to jack the price up 149% because there was a Stevie Nicks Concert on just down the road. While this may provide a short term gain I wonder if people will become totally sick of this and choose not to attend concerts in the future. Our 2 room unit, they refer to them as a chateau, was adequate but again poorly maintained with torn carpet, a bedside light that didn't work and a toilet that became blocked periodically all this for the excessive price $363 p.n. On principal we would never stay there again.

A rare few days were free and my wife and I took off midweek. This quiet little place was just what we were looking for. We had a studio one bedroom apartment and it was more than ample. It is perfectly located - close to wineries, the gardens and nearby village. Our tour bus picked up from there, so just great. Good value for money. The only issue i had was that the beds were "very firm". I'm used to a soft mattress. Other than that, no complaints at all.

Our room was lovely. Clean and comfortable, spacious and within walking distance of the Hunter Valley gardens. The pool was well maintained and the setting of the resort was great. Beautiful views over the lake etc.

Planned for a weekend stay to coincide with the local races. Great place to stay, Helpful staff and a very comfortable 1 bedroom apartment. The included breakfast at the TUK TUK restaurant was quite adequate, with a range from cereal and toast to bacon and eggs. Very nice. And give the cocktails of a Friday evening a go. Thanks for the stay.

My friend and I booked a unit with 2 double bedrooms and two bathrooms. The bathrooms each had a spa bath with a shower - utter luxury. Our Unit, more a pavilion, was down near the lake, with an uninterrupted view. Although the Leisure Inn is in the centre of Pokolbin, we were glad we had a car, as it would have been difficult to see any of the districts attractions that were not within walking distance. The accommodation is self-catering, but there is a restaurant open for breakfast every day, lunch at weekends and dinner on Saturday night. We arrived late Sunday afternoon and would have appreciated being able to have dinner on the premises.

Great overnight accommodation. Lovely self contained units. We needed kitchen facilities for very early start prior to Ballon ride, so kitchen was perfect. Location is central and was surprised at how quiet it was even though all the units around us were occupied. Would definitely book here again.

Just got back from a break with friends. Loved this place. Staff were friendly, food was great and the location is so close to all the beautiful wineries. Would definitely come back and highly recommend it to anyone. Loved the individual little apartments. Neat and tidy and all that you need for a great break away.
