AKA Resort & Spa Hua Hin5.0 out of 5.0

The title of this review says it all. I will summarise below and try to justify why: - Be prepared to pay 45 baht for a bucket of ice; - Plenty of water bodies in the villas and all around the resort, also means lot of mosquitos; - No maintenance, very poor service in the restaurant, unacceptable grooming of most of the staffs; - Staffs are not trained at all; - Bad food just act as an icing on cake; Dead ant was floating inside the lemonade; - No internet, when you ask front office, they will inform that they are able to connect, which also suggests that all the staffs use their phones. Hence very slow or no wifi at all; - During our stay manager came to attend the Pooja or blessings and everything seems to be fine. Wifi was working; - Silverware on the table were dirty, you can easily see the dirt/food particles; - During rainy days, all the creepers will creep into your room from everywhere; - Unpleasant smell will smoother you even inside the room; - A bar just near the restaurant seemed to be abondoned by the management; - Very limited trip to Hua Hin city which is again a let down; - Very dirty villa pool, think before you take a dip; - As a result checked out one day earlier I can go on, but seriously being an hotelinsider, this was probably the worst hotel experience of my life. I would suggest the owner/caretaker to hand over this beautiful looking property to a boutique resort operator/franchisee for the betterment and upkeep.
The resort is not too far from hua hin night market, It takes about 15 mins by car. There is located in the mountain, local area. In the resort, fulfilled with trees and you can see many fireflies in the garden at night. Beautiful!! Staffs are very helpful and have a good service. Rooms are clean but pretty old. Bathtub is outdoor and need more maintenance. Promotion price is acceptable for pool villa. And Breakfast is not variety.
We were at first disappointed that the entire villa could use a paint job and some refinishing. But the price is great for this level of accommodation, so let's cut them some slack. All was clean, and the pool was fantastic. Breakfast was excellent, and the breakfast chef was very responsive to requests. Amazing omelettes! MOST NOTEWORTHY was the wonderful, well trained staff. They responded quickly and efficiently to every request. The food from the restaurant (we had room service two evenings) was really good and reasonably priced. Echoing a criticism of other guests, charging 80 baht for ice is not reasonable. The shuttle bus to town was on time and the driver, like the other staff, was friendly and helpful. So, other than needing some tender loving care, this is a great spot.
After reading all the other bad reviews, I have to say I was quite lucky not have encountered those things during my short 2 nights stay there. First of all, the location is quite remote and there were virtually no other guests around (which could be good or bad). The villa was big , the cleanliness was ok but definitely could be better. The pool seemed cleaned except for the water bugs, but i'm not sure whether this is normal or not (they weren't probably cholrine in the pool) There were mosquitoes (but we forgot to close the bathroom doors so we let them in). I guess bugs are normal in these kinds of environments. Breakfast was ok. The spa was ok. We did experience a 10 min blackout one night. Didn't have much interaction with staff so not much problem. Overall my experience was ok, didn't have much problem, but most likely not coming back for a second time.
We had stayed at AKA during 21-23 Feb 17.We are just check out. Staff were nice, especially Khun Mai(HR). she take care of us during breakfast. But the service was not quite good due to yesterday we requested for 1 bucket of ice and FB would like to charge 50 THB. We dont really know that they didnot have turn down service or refreshing service and charge for the ice :( Before check out, on 11.50 AM. staff called us to remind the check out time and told us that the new clients are waiting for the room. We did not require the late check out but maybe u should more compromise.
Our stay was comfortable , but the villa was dusty , the cleaners came in daily but did the bare minimum, my gripe is with the dark paths at night , the lighting was inadequate and too dark for walking back to the villa , the personal pool was cool they do need to be heated, overall the breakfasts were good , but this resort needs money injecting into it, it is definitely not 4 or 5 star
If you want a quiet reasonable price resort you should stay here. We read the reviews before coming and were expecting something not so nice. However, upon arrival We were welcomed with a nice cold towel and drinks. The reception lady is super nice and the guard there helps with our parking and carried our luggages. We got into our rooms and it was clean and spacious. For the price we are paying, I think it's good enough. The pool is clean and bed is comfortable. Again, for the price that we paid for, I am satisfied. It feels Like a home away from home. There's another room just for you to get a massage. The living room is cozy. The ac works well. The service is great. I would recommend this hotel for those who just want to get out of bangkok.
As a seasoned traveller and a former owner of a city centre bar & restaurant I am aware of the impact a review (negative or positive) can have on a business and so have been reluctant to comment on experiences. In this particular case I feel I have to inform people. We booked for 7 nights in the AKA resort, Hua Hin Thailand from the 7th to 14th January. We chose a deluxe pool villa and were well aware that the resort was fairly remote but, after a week of Bangkok & Myanmar it was exactly what we wanted. A week before leaving the UK we found some reviews relating to cleanliness, cockroaches and bugs as well as, general disrepair so we emailed the resort to ask if this would be a problem. We received two replies which reassured us that there would be no problem and that special care would be taken to make our stay comfortable. When we arrived the resort was remote (no problem) but it was immediately obvious that the place was very tired and vital maintenance work had been neglected, this was just the reception area and front water features. We were shown to our villa (no 117) which I have to say would have been fantastic in its day. The size & layout was brilliant a large villa, private pool and sunbathing balcony. We found rubbish in the water feature a old chocolate wrapper covered in green algae as well as numerous cigarette ends, bottle tops in front the the patio doors, empty plastic bottle in the garden, rubbish next to the bath which you really wouldn't of used. There was the green and white mould all over the pads for the sunbed. We quickly complained and were shown another villa (no 150) which was 100% better but still required updating and a fresh paint job. We weren't happy but decided to give it a go. There was a shuttle service to the town about 15 minutes away so we used that to go out returning a few hours later at about 8pm. On returning many of the lights were not working and although it was advertised that the pool bar held a barbecue and cocktail event every Friday and Saturday there were no staff about and the bar was closed. We settled down for our first night until we ran some water into the sink, it backed up and what floated on the top looked like a previous persons vomit (this sink had previously had problems as there was no plug only a hole surrounding it). The sun beds were again green and mouldy as well as rotten We used the other sink and took several photos of the carnage. We thought this was the final straw until we had breakfast then wished we hadn't. Dirty glasses, wrecked dining furniture plus very poor quality food. The wooden walkways are bordering on dangerous with screws and nails protruding, not good for adults in flip flops let alone children. The main pool didn't look as if it was in use and definitely didn't appear serviceable. With one night down and another six to go we decided to leave. We told receptionist who wouldn't let us speak to the manager, she informed us that we would not get a refund for the remainder of our pre-paid stay but would allow 50%.refundable. As we had paid on credit card we informed them that we would put the transaction into dispute as they had breached their contract to provide clean & serviceable accommodation. They really didn't care so we packed up & departed. We emailed our card company and have put the matter in dispute since returning to the UK. In hindsight we should have taken more notice of reviews as some of them were spot on. This place has the potential to be amazing. The villas if properly maintained provide excellent accommodation but in their present state they are not fit for purpose, require major refurbishment and are currently dangerous. The rest of the resort and the staff need serious attention, the place would fail to merit a one star. Stay well away from this resort if you are looking for any degree of cleanliness or comfort, especially if you have children. I can only think they are in financial trouble and advise you if you are thinking about it NEVER pay upfront, as it maybe not open when you get there! There were hardly any staff around, the ornamental pools are dirty, the grounds need a good army of gardeners on them, the restaurant didn't appear to be used apart from breakfast, my partner did manage to have a bout of food poising, the only thing he had which I didn't was a dressing from the breakfast spread.
Before I came, I've already reviewed many remarks and overall remarks are below average , hence my expectation to this hotel was low. However when we arrived, all of us were so disappointed, my mom even blamed me: daughter, you are cheated by your agent! The hotel was almost empty. The gardening of the resort looked out of line. We booked a family villa with two bedrooms. Many facilities in-room are either worn out or broken. The TVs were too blue to watch, wifi was poor, taps were loosen, bathtub water stop was missing... oh lord, the hotel was totally not alright. There is a private pool in the villa but the water was too cold for swim... the English level of the staff is too basic and communication with the staff was difficult. I always doubted whether they really understood when they nodded to me. I haven't tried the breakfast yet but what would I still expect... Be honest, I will never come back to this hotel again. If the management cannot to anything to improve the hardware and software of this hotel, closing down is the only way for it.
Villa type : One Bedroom Deluxe Pool Villa The Rooms are huge and privacy but a very old appliances should be improved urgently. It would be better if the pool villa has been completely renovated and very slow WiFi signal Bathroom : The Hot water does not tell the direction and cannot control. The atmosphere is quite calm and very natural, perfect for relaxing but outside room has a large number of mosquitoes. You should be prepared Anti-mosquito lotion. If you have no private vehicles will travel difficult. You should plan your trip carefully. The High food prices and the breakfast is not so much because of the number of guests less food. The staff will be strict with Thai clients. I felt there was no privacy at all times, came to the Lobby and employees are less not appropriate to the size of the hotel. I'm not to blame for the negative, but I wanted to give the hotel has improved even further.
