I stay this hotel and send many customers for many years. I booked room vip b most expensive. Room infected with ants cannot sleep. Told receptionist to fumigate daily to not avail. Also while waiting at the lobby some large rats came out behind my chair. Hotel location is good yet it has deteriorated greatly over the years, paid usd 80 per night . Never again
We were here for just 1 night due to opening ceremony of H&M store in Vincom Center which was about 400-500m away from the hotel. The hotel was small but we managed it for 1 night only. They provided enough amenities in room and also with bathtub. Breakfast was ok with basic choices. The thing i like most from this hotel was its location. It was really in the heart of the city and you can walk to see around. Not a best option but was ok.
A&Em is well known in HCMC for its cheap and good hotels in excellent location. This one which is located in Hai Ba Trung is strategically located in District One, very easily accessible to major tourist spots and shopping destinations. The rooms are small but clean and very cozy. The breakfast has is good considering that this is a budget hotel. I have no qualms staying at this hotel each time I am in HCMC.
I really liked this hotel, and the staff that worked here. It was well located in the CBD of Ho Chi Minh City, not far from great restaurants and interesting places, such as the War Remnants museum. It was also guest-friendly, which is a rarity in Vietnam it seems. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the rooms were clean and comfortable.
Overall OK for the budget. We were a group of 9 Couples and was recommended this Hotel for our 3 night stay to tour Ho Chi Minh City and suited the Tour cost. Its a small Hotel where the management has compromised on the size of rooms for a larger inventory. Room & Bathroom indeed very small and too little space to keep ones luggage. Buffet Breakfast has a good spread but very few Tables to sit if all the Guests come down same time. The only plus point of this Hotel is that it is in the heart of the city and close to good shopping options & restaurants all in walking distance.
I asked to be not to close to front street as i have been there before and the sound proofing of the rooms/windows is bad. They gave me a VIP ROOM (8A) on top floor. Shortly said i have been staring at the ceiling from 01:30 to 04:00 listening to the wonderful sounds of AC compressor systems on the roof ramping up every 3 minutes - Extremely noisy and just bad. In the morning there was no hot water and the room smelled of sewage odor clearly coming from the piping systems (when i arrived all pipes where closed). I have been coming to this hotel on and off for 4 years but i think i have reached the point of saying "enough is enough".
Overall was not a bad experience, however note the following: Pros: - good location, nice hotel that was recently refurbished, good rooftop pool, friendly staff, good breakfast Cons: terrible wifi, small rooms with old air conditioning unit and tv, rooftop pool only has 4 seats
The rooms are so tiny that you barely get room to put your luggage, The same for bathroom. Customer service do leave room for improvement. The nice thing is that it is close to a lot of attractions and restaurants. Having said that, I would choose another place to stay next time.
I had a very poor experience at the A&EM Hotel. I've been to Ho Chi Minh City several times and have stayed at the better hotels, including the Intercontinental and the Sheraton. These are excellent hotels, but expensive and they do not permit overnight guests. I booked the A&EM Hotel through Expedia, after doing my due diligence. I like this particular area of Saigon, as it is in District 1 and convenient to the restaurants, shopping, etc. This hotel is filthy and dirty and old. Upon check-in I was informed that I had been upgraded to VIP room on the 8th floor. The room was not acceptable. It was hot, dirty, poorly furnished. Not a place I would want to spend any time, or even to walk on the carpets without shoes! I had an extremely bad vibe and knew that I could not stay there. If you are female traveler - this is absolutely NOT the place you want to stay. I went downstairs to check out and tell them that the room was not acceptable. Expedia did a good job trying to get my pre-paid money returend, but A&EM did not refund my money, despite the fact that I did not even touch the bed or spend more than 5 minutes that dirty room. If you are seeking a budget hotel that is clean, inexpensive and secure, I would suggest the Dong Du Hotel right around the corner. The staff there is vigilant, kind, english-speaking and the hotel is safe. The Sheraton is also excellent, but far more expensive. With all the many hotel choices in Saigon, do NOT make the mistake of booking here. And shame on A&EM for not refunding my money and offering a terrible product. Upgrade your facilities, A&EM! You can do better... Disgusted in Saigon, Ron K.
Whilst I had a very pleasant stay at this hotel, it didn't start so well. I had booked a executive double room that was advertised as being 30 square metres with city view. When I arrived they showed me to a room that was quite small and had a view of the wall of the neighbouring hotel. The room turned out to be less than 20 square metres. On another website it is listed as being 25 sq m. The lady on the desk told me none of their Executive Doubles had city view and whilst they showed me 2 other rooms they were the same size and I was very annoyed. Only after showing the website description to reception and a threatening to contact the agent did they call me to offer a free upgrade to a VIP room which actually met the description of the room I'd booked. Once that was sorted I went on to thoroughly enjoy the rest of my stay. The room was superb, had everything you could need, good wifi, a huge bed and even a spa bath. The staff proved to be very pleasant and helpful, there was a choice of breakfasts included in my stay which was just about ok. Other food I ordered during the day was actually quite good and very reasonably priced. Reception is manned 24 hrs a day and the hotel is guest friendly. Furthermore, it is located in the heart of the nightlife area and just round the corner from Apocalypse Now (probably the best nightclub in the city).
