Pets: We are glad that we offer a home where you can bring your pets along. However, in the year we’ve been renting, we have had numerous problems. Therefore we have the following policies: Pets are not allowed on the beds or furniture. Clean up after your pet if they go in the yard, there is a poop scooper usually on the deck. We have a roll of green temporary fence on the corner of the front deck. If you like, this can be used to keep your pets on the deck. It attaches using the hooks on the rail and the house. We also have two child gates inside if you would like to keep your pet on the main floor where there is no carpet. It is imperative that you keep your dog(s) on a leash when outside. There are several (really nice) older people in our neighborhood who frequently walk their dogs without leashes, as well as guests in the main house with dogs sometimes. If your pet goes to the bathroom on the carpet, clean it up or we will charge for professional cleaning. Failure to follow these rules will result in a minimum $500 additional cleaning fee.
The vacation home is air-conditioned and features a kitchen, 4.5 bathrooms, and a balcony, and there's space to spread out with 4 bedrooms. Guests can enjoy a Smart TV and stay connected with free WiFi. The bathroom offers a jetted tub and hair dryers. Other standard amenities include a washing machine, a fireplace, and a private yard.

Marty was an exceptional communicator and gave us all we needed to locate this wonderful property suited for our 11 member family and dog. Instructions were clear regarding entry, WiFi, TV’s, hot tub and use of kitchen. Feel the house needs to be better maintained and the many of the furnishings need to be removed, replaced or throughly cleaned. The kitchen needs a good cleaning and reorganization. Not enough silverware for our group. Master bath tub was cracked and covered over with a sealer that started peeling off after using the tub a couple of times. Probably needs to be replaced. The house is fantastic with lots of unique rustic features. Rooms are large with large windows and sliding glass doors that connect to a porch. AC works well. Lots of bathrooms to accommodate a large number of people. Beautiful stone fireplaces Remote quiet location but also conveniently close to Highlands downtown. So nice but needs some TLC!

Serene and peaceful
“Lotts of Sky” was perfect! Very secluded and peaceful yet close enough to everything we wanted to check out. The check in/out process was very simple and clearly stated in directions. One thing we weren’t aware of prior that was a nice little bonus was that Oak steakhouse at Skyline Lodge is literally a couple hundred yards (through the forest) from the property and we enjoyed a great meal there one evening. When we return to the area we will definitely reach out to the hosts again. Definitely check out Secret Falls, Whiteside Mountain, Highlands UTV (ask for David) and the Great Smokey Mountains RailRoad in Bryson City was a great excursion too!

Excellent communication from homeowner. Marty was friendly and helpful. Also, his picture directions into this remote property were so great! Cabin is rustic and lovely with great views. Very convenient location between Cashiers and Highlands. Bathrooms were clean and house was well stocked for guests. Also this home has super outdoor porch space!

Loved the location and the home
Beautiful home in great location. Property manager was very responsive.
Gave 4 of 5 stars due to slim provisions (no dishwasher detergent, no washing machine detergent so we had to go out to purchase; limited cookware) and carpet notably stained in multiple spots on lower and upper levels.
However there was a generous supply of firewood for the wonderful outdoor fireplace, and all indoor gas fireplaces worked well and easily. Hot tub was very clean and heated up quickly and well. Garage space for car was a plus. Our family of 8 had a wonderful stay! We would definitely recommend!

End of summer friends trip!
House and property were clean, comfortable, spacious, quality and full of options for activities and fun! The zip line was nonfunctional but we probably wouldn’t have used it anyway. We completed the short hike to the waterfall off of the property which was beautiful and lush!! The outdoor fireplace was phenomenal! Proximity to downtown Highlands was perfect! Thanks so much for allowing us to stay!!

Nice home but needs attention and updates
Let me start out by staying Marty, one of the property co-owners/property managers could not have been nicer and more accommodating, as well as a good communicator. We had a couple of things go wrong while there, but he was right on top of it. There is a crack in the main level tub that renders it unusable, however Marty let me know this in advance that they were looking into a fix. From a location standpoint, the property is extremely remote and a bit difficult to get to, and is very private on a remote one lane road in a development that never really developed. It allows plenty of natural light and the feeling of being in a treehouse.
From an overall rating standpoint, I cannot give this property more than a 3.5 to 4 star rating. The home is nice, has great bones and potential, but needs a total makeover from a decor/furnishings standpoint. Most all the furniture/decor is very old, drab, worn out, and uncomfortable. Additionally, the old creaky antique bed and mattress on the main level is completely shot and probably the most uncomfortable bed we’ve ever sleep in. I’m talking very bad! The other bedrooms have newer and very comfortable mattresses, so our other guests sleep comfortably, so it’s the main level only that needs replacing. That’s my review in a nutshell. They need to drop about $15k - $20k on new bed/mattress and furnishings, as well as replace the main level tub and this would be a 5 star property. Just keeping it real.

Rustic Mountain Cabin in Highlands
This cabin was spacious and pretty well stocked- in terms of kitchen equipment, towels, etc. The nice thing is the property allows pets, bad thing about that is there were several places with noticeable pet stains. We also couldn’t get in when we arrived. The code didn’t work and it took about half an hour to reach the owner. It was a difficult situation after traveling across country all day with young children because it was very late when we arrived and then couldn’t get in. Overall, good location and ample space for a big family.

WONDERFUL property for our group of 8! The main house was large enough for everyone to spread out but still felt cozy. We loved having all the amenities (especially the fireplaces, hot tub and game room) and the kitchen was AMAZING! Especially helpful to have two ovens when cooking for a large group. Loved how close the house is to Highlands even though it felt pretty remote. Thank you for sharing your beautiful house Marty!

Great Getaway
Our family took a 5 day trip for vacation and stayed at Lotts of Sky. It was a nice house and the porches are AMAZING! We cooked most meals in the kitchen which was well sized and stocked with utensils. The weather was cool so we enjoyed the fireplace on the porch. We brought our dogs, so it was the perfect spot to escape for a few days with the whole family and fur babies. We look forward to returning!
