It's just sad, how this accomodation wasn't really as good as expected according to the ratings. No one even wasn't surprised or upset, that things are broken or nasty in the rooms. It's confusing. It would be nice to clean rooms and make repairments. Or at least there need to be person, who check rooms before people arriving - if everything is clean and working. We neeed to change the room, because in the first one balcony door was broken, but that helped me to get the impression, that all the rooms cleaned very badly, because there were someones clothes and hairpins, chewing gum (chewed) at the doors of the wardrobe...stains on the bedclothes...shower door, that hangs only thanks to the top wheels, while the fixator of the bottom wheels is weak (it's a bit dangerous)...broken fixator for the liquid soap. The funniest thing was: - I told to the receptionist, that I can see a lot of dust at the gray lamp in the kitchen zone (seriously, it does't mean, that it is the dirtiest thing in the room, but you can see dust very good, when the object is gray); - a guy from the personell came and asked me, what's wrong with the lamp; - I told him about dust and chewing gum in the wardrob and asked to come later, because we were having lunch; - someone came next day, when we were absent, so, when we get back, we discovered, that someone wiped the lamp with his/her hand (you can see the traces on the lamp and how dust was just replaced and not really wiped, because it's the "handcleaning"; - at the late evening we discovered, that lamp doesn't work anymore.
I'm working in Helsinki on a contract and the apartment style rooms are perfect and preferable to normal hotel although short stay trips will enjoy as well. Great central location but also quiet residential area so you feel like a local. 4 tram comes every 4 mins at peak into central helsinki and metro/mainline train links to beyond. V clean comfortable rooms. Underfloor heating in bathroom which is nice. This is self catering and so no bar restaurant communal area as with typical hotels so if you want that you should look elsewhere and there is plenty of that to be had in Helsinki. Sanna in Reception is very helpful and accomodating re bookings and additional requests for stuff. Easy check in by fone if you arrive outside 9 to 5 as i do. I can't think of anything to find fault with this gaff. Stayed in two rooms now one in each block and not seeing any issue re cleanliness as per some reviewers comments albeit in the past.
Superb location to tram station and to suomenlinna, however mattress is old. Service from the reception is good and helpful. Kitchen utensils are clean but stove is a bit dirty. The hotel room is a bit oudated need a renovation soon. Overall a good stay and worth the value given that location and surrounding area is quiet.
A good and comfortable one night stay. Perfect location, spacious appartment. But some equipement should be renewed or added (like hair dryer) . However I would like to return and to enjoy one more time the perfect stay in Helsinki.
Spent two nights in the hotel in March. Easily accessible from the train station by tram and only 10min walk from the heart of the center. The hotel rooms are studio apartments so there was plenty of space. Kitchen corner (coffee maker, kettle, microwave and fridge included), comfy double bed and tidy bathroom. The place was calm and quiet, no bars, clubs or noisy traffic nearby. The hotel is staffed only til 5pm but the check in is made easy with instructions at the front desk. Hotel doesn't have breakfast available but there are plenty of cafes and restaurants within walking distance.
Great position to stay in Helsinki, close to trams and amenities. From booking on line to getting keys etc was very easy and organize. Apartment was very spacious and great to be able to do self catering. Havin laundry facilities was an extra bonus albeit in the apartment block next door.
Wonderful city, which has something to do in the winter. Charming hotel. With his spirit and very good location. For lovers of romantic atmosphere. Simple, but at the same time home ... Would recommend both for couples and lovers)
Though it was in good location, the hotel cleaning was under standard. They'll not do daily cleaning plus wonth clean out trashes daily. It is understandable that you'll not chagr towels and bed linen daily cut cleaning could have beem done daily. There were moles on shower floors and on shower doors and it's still there after there cleaning service. Quite unacceptable.
Lovely place to stay, very conveniently located just outside the city center. Trams 4 and 5 will drop you pretty much at the doorstep after a 10 minute journey from the main train station. Room was everything I needed it to be; warm, clean and quiet. Sauna on the ground floor, free to use for guests was a fantastic bonus. Very helpful check in staff (I stayed twice), both in person and on the phone when checking in on the weekend. I found the weekend check-in, when reception is not staffed to be pretty straight forward despite the previous reviews. Don't let that put you off. Would stay again.
Nice place to spend long winter evenings with a warm atmosphere of home. You should try some cold walk first to better understand then what the real house exists for. Enjoy your staying with Hellsten Helsinki!
