Apartment is in a quiet place and close to Harbour and market place. Good location. Very spacious and clean. Checking in was easy and reception. Girls can speak English for once . Checking out was easy as I had to leave key cards in a green box as office was closed on weekends.
I stayed in a room with a sauna for 14 nights. The room is large and very comfortable, location is also the best. I did not need extra services from the staff, so this hotel was very comfortable (when I needed it they responded properly). Occasionally thorough cleaning of rooms and checking of equipment may be necessary(clothes drier was broken).
This place is very quiet and really close to the Market square in the harbor. You can spend all day around. Apartment was clean, spacious and it's kitchen was well equipped. Good choice to stay for a week. I wish I had a week there)
It is a centrally located apartment, but services such as supermarkets or food are 1 km away. Very well for go because it is very close, viking boats with tram lines 5 min and the Kauppatori is 5 min walking
- large space with most things provided - pretty clean, some dust and a few things look a bit tired - close to Senate Square, the market, ferries, the esplanade and several restaurants - nearest supermarket is quite far
The building was old and quaint/quirky. The apartment was clean and reasonably comfortable. The shower leaked all over the bathroom floor, which was a real nuisance. No daily chamber maid, and you had to dispose of your own rubbish at the end of your stay. At least it was quiet and we got lots of sleep. It was fairly handy for walking into the centre, but there was a tram stop nearby for going further, or when we were carrying our luggage.
Even for low Nordic standards an unacceptable place. We have seen two rooms, they were both dirty and sticky, everywhere we touched. Cupboards, floors, walls, doors, handles, cutlery...everything. Cleaned a lot ourselves. The staff obviously does not check the rooms ever. The furniture is awful, decades old and full of dirty stains. So is the whole building. No heating although 10-15C outside max. Slowest internet ever, impossible to work. A disgusting place that survives only because of the location and the garage. There are other centrally located places, don't go to this one.
We arrived at the hotel/apartment building at 01:00 am and realized no staff was on-site. After submitting our credit card info, still outside the hotel door, we got inside the small "lobby" room at the basement of an apartment building. The self-service concept that the hotell uses assumes that you activate your room key yourself, which was not possible due to system breakdown, which we tried to cure (with remote support by hotell staff on mobile phone) by powering off the card reader several times without any success. Finally, after 45 min waiting we were let into our rooms by a security guard. The price paid was too high, even without any problems that we experienced.
Stayed at the Helsinki Senate apartments for four days during our time in the Finland Capital. Short walk to town or No. 4 tram one street away. Our studio apartment had everything we needed for self catering and we did eat out also. The room was ready on arrival, good ensuite and all clean and maintained. After hours check in is no problem with PIN number and phone available in entrance way. Would do it again.
Very tired building, not in a quaint way, sewage smells in room. Elevator stops halfway on stair landings so if elderly, prepare to carry luggage up at least a flight of stairs. Not a hotel at all, ok location
