My partner & I were attending a three day gathering of Medieval folk. We were due to be under canvas but firstly my mate got a bad cold and then it rained, and rained, and rained, so we booked at Grosvenor, which had a vacancy and that at a reasonable price. The receptionists both booking in and leaving were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and tidy. It had a spa bath! Yea. It was near a supermarket, Dominos Piza (and other fast food outlets) that you could walk to in 5 min. All up it was just what we needed. We were lucky we arrived on the Friday as on Saturday it was fully booked out. We are due to be in Hamilton for The Tatoo Cup in September and will stay at Grosvenor if we can.

I stayed recently with 3 other work colleagues all in separate rooms. My room the toilet had a leak. One of my work mates opened her room to find it was already occupied. Her second room when she went to sleep had a sock in the bed so it's hard to imagine when the sheets had been changed. All rooms had fridges that resembled jet planes taking off that couldn't be turned off. We didn't need the fridge as the milk we normally expect wasn't there or delivered when we asked for some. In a city awash with accommodation of a high standard this motel quickly needs to address its issues

We stayed in a "king spa room". There was a double bed and a single bed that could double as trampolines. We didn't wven take the chance of turning the spa on as it didn't appear to be well maintained. The fridge was so noisy we took their advice and turned it off overnight, see the picture of the sticker on the fridge. The heater is a very small blow heater (see picture) which wasn't affective but bed did have an electric blanket, thank goodness, because it only had a sheet and thin blanket which we kept "fighting" for during the night. There was a spare blanket in the cupboard so we got a spare sheet and slept as two singles on the double bed for the second night. One positive was it had good water pressure in the shower. Do yourself a favour and drive past!

Booked here during Fieldays. Normal room rate of $99.00, charged $450.00. Not all the sky channels worked, the spa bath was cracked and stained. The vanity in the bathroom was stained, as was the carpet in the room. I found an apple under the single bed, whilst looking for a power point, which was brown and shrivelled. Who knows how long that had been there. Holes in the walls, windows that didn't close or wouldn't close properly. I have never stayed in a motel as bad as this one. I had visitors with me from Australia and the South Island, and it was an embarrassment.

this has to be the worst place i have ever stayed at! mould in the bathroom mould on the main room curtain no blackout curtains(outside lights stayed on all night) there was no bistro as was advertised some kind of liquid soap stuff in a dispenser it was a bad decision i have ever made will never go back

Where do i start....very dated and unkept! Would not recommend or stay again. Pool was advertised as heated, it was tepid and certainly no something you would swim in at this time of year. That was 1 of the main motivators of booking. Overall pretty disappointing to say the least.

I wish I had read reviews before booking. This is the scungeous motel/hotel I have stayed in. There were broken venetian blinds-not expensive to replace- shower curtains that should be dumped- again not expensive to replace and the carpet was so stained etc I really didn't want to walk in bare feet on it. The telephone in room didn't work -we did get a replacement and the plug was broken. Rail in wardrobe came down not fixed properly.Definitely needs a great update and very dated eg enamel finish on taps gone. Would not recommend this place at all.Have stayed in better cabins in camp sites.

This place is dated and very tired looking. How ever breakfast at $12 was amazing. Fully cooked bacon n and eggs wow. Ok for a one night stay but not luxury. Two heaters in the room but no fan and it was hot! Had that old smell about it. Staff not very welcoming

- The first room I was allocated had cigarette butts overflowing in an ash tray and the shower wasn't working. So they moved me. The next room: - No hot water. I asked the motel manager and was told it is because someone in the room upstairs must have had a bath or shower and used all the hot water. She advised me to wait until the water heated again. When I had a shower (cold again despite her advice) the whole bathroom floods because the shower curtain only covers a small area and doesn't block the water from the rest of the bathroom. - Filthly, old and run down.Stained carpet. Cigarette burns in the bathroom sink. - The curtain covering the window on the door to the room is missing. The window is kind of opaque but I looked from the outside and you can see into the room when it's dark outside so no real privacy. - Paint peeling in the bathroom and the laminate on the floors peeling off due to water damage. - No air con and the ceiling fan had been broken off the fitting. - Periodically throughout the night the fridge woke me up making a loud banging / buzzing type noise. I had to get up and unplug it. - Terrible mattress. Really lumpy and uncomfortable. At one point I woke up because there was a lump under my back in the middle of the mattress. I got up and took the sheet off to see what it was. It was the plug for the electric blanket. So I pulled it off so I wouldn't have the lump on my back only to find a huge blood stain on the old and disgusting mattress. Needless to say I didn't go back to bed.

Booked a room 6 weeks prior to arriving for a wedding, arrived to find NO booking and a young women who swore at me and told me to leave not so much in those words either, absolutely appalling people, would never recommend and would never attempt another booking, these people should learn to speak English properly and learn NOT TO SWEAR AT PEOPLE.
