Booked here during Fieldays. Normal room rate of $99.00, charged $450.00. Not all the sky channels worked, the spa bath was cracked and stained. The vanity in the bathroom was stained, as was the carpet in the room. I found an apple under the single bed, whilst looking for a power point, which was brown and shrivelled. Who knows how long that had been there. Holes in the walls, windows that didn't close or wouldn't close properly. I have never stayed in a motel as bad as this one. I had visitors with me from Australia and the South Island, and it was an embarrassment.
this has to be the worst place i have ever stayed at! mould in the bathroom mould on the main room curtain no blackout curtains(outside lights stayed on all night) there was no bistro as was advertised some kind of liquid soap stuff in a dispenser it was a bad decision i have ever made will never go back
Where do i start....very dated and unkept! Would not recommend or stay again. Pool was advertised as heated, it was tepid and certainly no something you would swim in at this time of year. That was 1 of the main motivators of booking. Overall pretty disappointing to say the least.
I wish I had read reviews before booking. This is the scungeous motel/hotel I have stayed in. There were broken venetian blinds-not expensive to replace- shower curtains that should be dumped- again not expensive to replace and the carpet was so stained etc I really didn't want to walk in bare feet on it. The telephone in room didn't work -we did get a replacement and the plug was broken. Rail in wardrobe came down not fixed properly.Definitely needs a great update and very dated eg enamel finish on taps gone. Would not recommend this place at all.Have stayed in better cabins in camp sites.
This place is dated and very tired looking. How ever breakfast at $12 was amazing. Fully cooked bacon n and eggs wow. Ok for a one night stay but not luxury. Two heaters in the room but no fan and it was hot! Had that old smell about it. Staff not very welcoming
- The first room I was allocated had cigarette butts overflowing in an ash tray and the shower wasn't working. So they moved me. The next room: - No hot water. I asked the motel manager and was told it is because someone in the room upstairs must have had a bath or shower and used all the hot water. She advised me to wait until the water heated again. When I had a shower (cold again despite her advice) the whole bathroom floods because the shower curtain only covers a small area and doesn't block the water from the rest of the bathroom. - Filthly, old and run down.Stained carpet. Cigarette burns in the bathroom sink. - The curtain covering the window on the door to the room is missing. The window is kind of opaque but I looked from the outside and you can see into the room when it's dark outside so no real privacy. - Paint peeling in the bathroom and the laminate on the floors peeling off due to water damage. - No air con and the ceiling fan had been broken off the fitting. - Periodically throughout the night the fridge woke me up making a loud banging / buzzing type noise. I had to get up and unplug it. - Terrible mattress. Really lumpy and uncomfortable. At one point I woke up because there was a lump under my back in the middle of the mattress. I got up and took the sheet off to see what it was. It was the plug for the electric blanket. So I pulled it off so I wouldn't have the lump on my back only to find a huge blood stain on the old and disgusting mattress. Needless to say I didn't go back to bed.
Booked a room 6 weeks prior to arriving for a wedding, arrived to find NO booking and a young women who swore at me and told me to leave not so much in those words either, absolutely appalling people, would never recommend and would never attempt another booking, these people should learn to speak English properly and learn NOT TO SWEAR AT PEOPLE.
A night in the Grosvenor Motor Inn was possibly the worst spent in our 35 years of Moteling. From the Outside and on the website it looks appealing but we should have been warned by an abandoned supermarket trolley and cigarette butts in the newspaper holder by the door of our suite. Upon entering we saw tattered and venetians which fell apart even more on being touched. The bedding was sparse with only one pillow each and no extra blankets. Although the room was spacious, the decor was shabby and outdated. There was a large spa bath, plenty of hot water with good pressure but sadly all the taps were leaking and had obviously damaged the surrounds and flooring. The windows were seized open to let the steam out, but unfortunately let the constant traffic noise in. The motel was 10 metres from a bus stop and we had to listen to foul language, breaking bottles etc due to being unable to close the windows!! Never again... and it put us off wanting to stay in Hamilton again.
Ok to just put your head down. Nothing flash at all very old fashion, paint peeling of the ceiling in bathroom, really poorly maintained such a shame, could be a very nice place if had some TLC. Good location wouldn't want to stay there any more then a night tho.
On arrival I realised i had stayed here before a couple of years ago, so as it was pretty dismal back then I felt disappointed I had booked here again! But our room was clean, very run down though, and the beds are VERY old soft spring beds. The staff were helpful and nice, it would have been a great place in its heyday 40 odd years ago, and now it just needs a complete makeover. It was very busy so we couldn't park close to our room. I like my comforts so wouldn't stay here again, but its the cheapest in town so it did for the night. It was easy to find and close to town.
