Worst bed ever, did not sleep the first night, and our sightseeing i Hamburg was therefor not the best experience. No television in the room as promised, "TV channels out of order due to conversion to new TV signal" an old sign said in the elevator, although it worked in the reception. Noisy rooms, could hear everything from the neighbours.
Alright for the price, but some of the rooms are not very nice. At first we got a room on the ground floor which faced the parking lot of a supermarket and everyone could look directly into the room. Very uncomfortable. Thankfully we were allowed to move to a room on the first floor after quite a lot of confusion. Breakfast was alright but not amazing. The coffee was quite nice. Not the biggest variety and selection of stuff, but was only 7 euros. Area is not the most interesting, but it is close to the train station.
Stayed here with a group of friends for a stag and I was expecting the worst but was pleasantly surprised. The rooms were ok with everything u need for a short stay even a TV. The bed were very hard and the front entrance was very shifty with a lot of people hanging around but very close to everything.
Nice staff and good location near the subway and supermarkets. The cleaning should be improved. In 5 days never had my towels changed, had to ask for it. Good breakfast. Only German channels on the television. Good internet.
When we entered our room we were greeted by the smell of wet dog and cigarettes. There were stains and dirt on the floor, hairs on the pillows, and black mould in the shower. Absolutely diagusting. Sure, A&O is a cheaper option, so I'm not critical about the outdated rooms, or even the uncomfortable and creaky beds. But when a room smells so bad, looks so gross, and is actually a health hazard because of the mould, I refuse to spend my free time and money there. When we went to complain they were quick to tell us that we could get our money back from the booking agency and that was it. No apologies, no offering a different room, just acceptance. Absolutely disappointed in A&O, will not recommend this to anyone (accept smoking dog lovers with a solid immune system) Oh and the breakfast is not free as it mentions here, it's €7,-.
Hello- I rented a hotel room for 2 people for a week long stay. The room was more like a hostel though. Pros: - the hotel was somewhat cheap - 3 block walk to the hammer-kirche train station. It was easy to catch a connection to go anywhere in the city. - there was a lidl grocery store next door - the breakfast was basic with breads, meats, cereal, and hard boiled eggs. It costs 7 euro per person, per day. - if you wanted to rent a car, StarCar rental is only a couple blocks walk away. Cons: - the hotel is old - there was only one working elevator, and it was tiny. It says it is rated for 6 people, but 2 people with suitcases barely fit. Often had to use the stairs as the elevator was busy (especially in the morning during breakfast). There are 6 upper floors and 2 lower floors in the building. - the beds were very very uncomfortable. It was hard to sleep. The bedding was also minimal with a thin square foam piece for a pillow. - the TV only has German channels (no English) and didn't always work. It would randomly shutoff while watching it. - the bathroom had some black mildew on the floor and walls. If you do get the breakfast, be sure to bring your token with you and put it in the box, or the person working there will ask you for it. If you use the train for the day and are with a couple people, be sure to get the 9uhr group ticket (11,60 eur). They can be purchased at the train stations (use the English button on the screen to translate). If you like camping, or are fine with basic hostels, this may be ok.
Stayed here with family on a trip to visit the Christmas Markets. Couldn't have made a better choice! Excellent place, warm friendly welcome. Staff extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Rooms were a good size, clean, comfortable and furnished adequately. Felt safe both in our room and in the hotel common spaces. The location of the hotel also appeared to be in a nice part of town. Transport links were 3-5min walk away and once on the metro system you can get anywhere in the city pretty quickly. There is a supermarket next to the hotel which is cheap and sells more than you could ever need. I would have no issue recommending this hotel and would gladly visit again.
Arrived here without pre booking. Stay was pleasant enough but did not get a lot of info on places to visit. The Reeperbahn was the only real suggestion and have probably got the wrong impression about Hamburg in general because of this. Only stayed for one night and half the next day but would try to get somewhere more central in Hamburg if I wished to see any real attractions
Stayed here with a stag group and found it very good value for money. Clean rooms and handy for transport to Hamburg city centre. A bit far away from the centre but that was reflected in the price. Continental breakfast was a bit basic but par for the course in Germany. Staff were very helpful. A little bit out of the way and lacking in local shops/eateries but I would recommend it for a short stay. Good rail link to the airport. Late checkout (2.00 p.m) at only 7.30 Euro was really handy for our later return flight.
Friendly staff, clean and quiet room, toiletries in room in case you forgot your own. Only downsides were that the curtains didn't cover the whole window so the customers in Lidl next door maybe got more than they bargained for. Other let down was the flat square pillows - although this seems to be a recurring theme in other hotels in the region too. To summarise good for a stopover, good transport links - 2 U-Bahn within 5min walk and a nice well priced pork restaurant near Rauhes Haus U-Bahn.
