Having read through some of the reviews below, I can see people are unfairly giving this hotel a poor rating based on factors outside of the hotel's control. I cannot understand why anyone on a coach trip would penalise the hotel's "dire" location in relation to coach trip stops; this has nothing to do with the hotel. The location of this hotel is indeed isolated, and to access any amenities (food/bars/ general civilisation) you will need your own transport. That said, anyone booking this hotel should be aware of this and will be booking it due to its proximity to industrial sites - and main roads. It would be great for business stays. The location in relation to any coach stops, is irrelevant. The hotel itself is clean and breakfast is great, with a massive variety of options. The evening meal selection is more limited and average, and somewhat overpriced. The staff are excellent; helpful and friendly if hopelessly overworked in a full hotel - there should of been more people working.
Best Western seem to have lost the plot! The hotel location is dire if like us you are touring the Ypes etc Battlefields. Arrived on Tuesday and that evening their restaurant was closed . Not a restaurant or bar within ten miles !! The hotel is dreary and could frankly be anywhere. The hotel Is understaffed. and the 3 overworked staff were magnificent and did their best with 90 people getting off Leger Coaches only to find that the restaurant was not open for Dinner . This is a good hotel for business clients BUT completely wrong for those like us wanting to enjoy a little Belgium hospitality / food and drink / shops and sights!!!
How anyone can think they can run a hotel with the amount of staff in this hotel is a joke . My local pub has more staff. This hotel could get top reviews if it 1- had adequate staffing levels 2- had air conditioning, the rooms were like ovens at night 3- were consistent with alarm calls . Some people got them others didn’t even though everyone requested them .The staff the hotel have work very hard but are fighting a losing battle.
As the hotel was isolated we had no choice but to eat an expensive meal that was of a very low order. As the hotel was pre chosen by the company that took us to the Spa circuit we had no choice in the matter. The fact that the track was 4 hrs away of course was not their fault. No ATM machines for Euros and although the hotel was clean it was run as a military establishment. The wait at the bar was pitiful and had to be put off. The need for a car is essential as we arrived by coach we would have needed a taxi to get to town. Distance unknown.
Well the only good thing I can say about this hotel is that it's very clean . We arrived after a very long coach journey to a very under staffed hotel in the middle of know where . We were not greeted by anyone , no sign of any management? No hot food served as we arrived a bit late and as nothing around the hotel to buy anything had no other way of getting a meal, not a great started to any holiday. Our room was nice and clean and we had tea and coffee making facilities but no milk provided to make a hot drink! Went down to the bar to get a drink to find that the poor reception person had to also run the bar and man the reception desk which is far from ideal. We got fed up with waiting so went back to our room. The breakfast was nice but the staff all looked fed up , never smiled or even said morning etc. This hotel really don't know how to look after there paying customers and the management need to address the many failures of this hotel. I would never return or recommend staying in this hotel chain to any of my friends or family. Very disappointing stay!
Breakfasts good. Not adequate provision for evening meal. Towels left in bath not changed! Milk not replenished in room from night of arrival on a 3 night stay. Very unfair to have 1 member of staff trying to run reception and bar. We waited for 45 minutes to be served a beer after a very long day. Not what you would expect in a hotel. Not the young man's fault but owner really does need to address this as it led to very dissatisfied customers. One man taking the law into his own hands, which I did NOT agree with and helping himself!! This put member of staff in a very difficult position.
I was relatively familiar with this hotel as I had family stay here a year and a half ago. The price is right, it's conveniently located (next to the motorway; not terribly far from SHAPE/Mons, etc.), clean, and there's breakfast and internet. Can't beat that. That being said I booked myself a room here for a solo trip to wrap up some loose ends after moving from the area. I checked in with ease, was told about breakfast, etc., and made my way to my room. Much to my surprise my room was nothing like my family's room a year+ prior. The room smelled musty, as if it were a smoking room at one point and they attempted to cleanse it of the odour, plus it was quite dark, even with curtains open or all of the lights on in the room. Fortunately I wasn't planning on living in the room, as I really only needed it as a place to sleep. However, when it came time to sleep, I noticed stains on the side of the bed and was glad that I brought my own pillow, as the pillows given were rock hard. I've stayed in hotels that were a thousand times worse and this was my only real complaint- that my room contrasted so differently with that of the room my family had. Dark, uncomfortable, and musty. Not bright, clean, and ... well, comfortable. BUT, being the only hotel in the area, it's good. It may not sound like it, but it is. The price is right, the location is decent, the internet and breakfast are great, and the staff fantastic. I suppose like any hotel it really depends on the room you're given. I'll definitely stay again the next time I'm in the area, without any hesitation.
We chose this hotel because we planned a trip to Pairi Daiza. It is only a 15 min drive, so that is perfect. The location of the hotel is in an industrial park, so do not expect nice views or/and a pittoresk village center. But it is positive that it is close to the motorway, and close to the Pairi Daiza park. And you can eat dinner there (but not in the weekends). A couple of days before arrival, I e-mailed the hotel with some questions. Immediately a reply came, and it turned out that they had taken care of everything we had required. We had a junior suite with an extra bed for our son. Great big room on the third floor, very quiet, we did not hear the motorway. The room was so big that there was enough space for the extra bed, leaving the layout of the nice sitting space (with one large couch and one small couch) untouched. We had aircon, and everything was nice and clean. There were coffee/tea-making facilities and a (small) free bottle of water. Big bathroom with two sinks and a separate toilet. Everything was very good. It only would have been nice to have some other channels on the TV, since it was mostly French-speaking. There were only two Flemish-speaking channels and no English-speaking channels. But that is not so important, we did not came to watch TV ! There was a nice lady at the desk who was also the bartender, always very friendly. Good service. You could sit outside, which was very nice because the weather was so good. And you did not notice that you were in an economic area. Restaurant in the evening was very good. There was a buffet, but you could also choose from the menu. Not a big choice, but all the basics were there (tournedos, chicken, pasta with scampi, fish and chips....). You could take the salad from the buffet. Very nice waiter. Also the breakfast was very nice: good buffet (everything you wanted was there) . Good coffee machine.. The restaurant was not too crowed, we always immediately found a free spot to sit at a layed table. We found this a very good hotel and would surely return and recommend it.
Although the hotel is located near a motorway and in an industrial area we had a quite night and a good sleep. On a cycling tour, bike storage is important as is breakfast. On both items this hotels scores more than just ok. Will we return in the future ? Yes, certainly. We were here a couple of years ago and I really appreciate the added availability of a secure and weather proof bicycle storage. Personal at the reception is friendly and helpfull. We arrived on friday 14th of July. The receptionist at arrival - sorry I did forget her name - took extra care storing the bikes for the night even though the hotel was quite busy. Breakfast at 6:30 is a plus for early starters as us.
A simple hotel on a coach holiday to and from Germany . It was ok the only big let down was lack of food.the only food was a platter for €20😢 and no other food as it was on a industrial site.the only other food was crisps and vending machine.
