Radisson Blu Park Royal Palace Vienna was Excellent

Close to Schönbrunn palace, our home base for 3 days of exploring Vienna. A little ways from the centre/zentrum but easy trip on the u bahn 500 metres away.
We visited in December, and it's nice that this hotel is close to Schloss Schönbrunn and it's Christmasmarkt. This hotel is also right next door to the Technical Museum, and a nice park. The check-in was an easy process. One odd thing that happened was one day we got a random phone call asking if we needed anything, or had called for service. Maybe they called everyday at that time and we were just always out and about? That was really the only day we were in the room at that time of day. It felt odd, but was probably just their good service. The hallways are nice a wide and well-lit, but can seem dark as some are on timers, so as to save energy when no one has been using that hallway. Being in an urban area though, the hotel can be loud. Well, the hotel itself isn't, but a room facing outward, and I think all the rooms probably are, can easily hear sirens and street noise. I'm not sure if our first night was just especially loud, or we just got used to it, but the rest of our nights (we were there 5 nights) were not nearly as loud as the first. Wi-fi in rooms is spotty. :( We did not use the breakfast, finding it a bit too steep, and instead walked to nearby grocery stores for yogurt and smoothies to keep in the room fridge. The restaurants looked VERY nice though, and the lobby area is spacious, good for communing and was decorated very beautifully for the holidays. In all, it was a great stay and if we find ourselves in Vienna would stay again!
The hotel may be deemed inconvenient if what you want is to be in the center of Vienna close to attractions. You access it by public transport and walk through a park if using U train. Streetcars are just outside door. If you like the idea of being surrounded by park like grounds and enormous trees, this is for you. Adjacent is the most visited site in the country which is a splendid and large Summer Palace with gardens and large grounds. Though located near major roads our large room was quiet and had a large bed, good storage and lighting. Nothing lacking in ambience if you like contemporary but definitely not traditional in styling.
