We’ve stayed in a wellness suite for 1 night to celebrate our anniversary. The young staff of the hotel is all very friendly and helpful. Everybody is willing to assist you. The wellness suite is very comfortable. Including sauna, double rain shower, jacuzzi for 2, king bed, living room with very comfortable couch. 2 televisions, sound system, nespresso, virtual fireplace, large balcony one 3 (!) sides of the room with bench etc. etc. The breakfast for 15,- pp is extraordinary! Complete from A to Z. As well as they offer gluten free products, several types of juice, yoghurt cold milk, fresh fruit, sandwiches, full English, etc. you won’t miss anything. The only “disadvantage” I found out to be... if you want them to decorate rose leaves on your room you’ll pay 8,50. So my tip; buy them yourselves, be a bit earlier then your girl and spend the saved money in a bar :-). Due to renovation activities we were offered a free soda / beer. We have appreciated that gesture a lot. We didn’t heard any noice in our room, it’s very quiet. The room comes with a free bottle of Prosecco. It’s an easy one to drink, not too complex unfortunately. But they made a “safe choice” with this one. All in all, we will definitely come back to visit again.
I am a big Van der Valk fan. I stay with them often and eat with them a lot! My favourite is still the applesauce with a cherry on top! Anyway last year we lunched at the Van der Valk in Haarlem. Unfortunately the lunch was disappointing. I sent them an email with my complaint. I was always told that a complaint is a way for a company to improve their services. I received an email saying they were upset to hear that I had a less experience and offered me to come back and eat at their cost. So we did, yesterday we enjoyed a brunch in their restaurant. It was lovely! Thank you to the staff and all for the great service. I must admit Van der Valk takes their complaints seriously.
WE are stranded here for one night because we didnt catch our flight. We Dame Up to the reception and the hotel ist totales under cunstruction. Although er were told by KLM that we get a small pack here with toothbrush and so on, WE didnt get anything!!! So lets See if they have a brush for the toilets.... Nice Service ..(ironic)
Excellent breakfast with large choice. Free parking but not securised We were coerced into paying an extra 15 € for an upgrade as the room which we had booked was in the old section which was being renovated. The entrance to the the hotel is through a dark entrance and one has to take the lift to the reception on the floor above. Hotel is situated some distance from the city centre on a commercial estate.
Room furnishings were average. Seemed clean enough. Shower wouldn't drain. We told the front desk and the next morning, they obviously attempted to clear the drain but it still didn't drain fast enough to have one shower without overflowing. The down button at the elevators didn't work. We had to push up and once the elevator came, select a lower floor. The staff were quite nice. The breakfast was great. The location was okay; not that close to Haarlem center and sort of far from the train to Amsterdam. For four-star pricing, I definitely do not recommend.
It is just about an ok hotel. Nothing great about it. The rooms have old and worn out look to them. The staff was good as such but the rooms were not properly cleaned everyday which is such a let down when you come back after a long tiring day.
Lovely 4-star hotel that I found near perfect – except: slippery shower floor, very small amount of vegetables at group dinners, and literature in room only in Dutch. Room was spacious and quiet with 2 easy chairs and sheers on the windows (in addition to drapes) for privacy, tea/coffee, good WiFi. Nice toiletries including a disposable “face cloth.” Breakfast was terrific: yogurt, various proteins including bacon, sausage, usual lunch meats, various kinds of eggs, and two of my favorites: smoked salmon and mushrooms. Then there were several kinds of breads, sweet rolls, and croissants in addition to cereals - and more! Dinners (this was for a group of 35) were excellent but heavy on protein and very light on vegetables. Can't comment on value since this was pat of a prepaid tour.
Good hotel though under renewal at the moment. Staff is nice and restaurant is ok. It is howver far from city center and not in a nice neighbour. The gym is ok and i did not notice any spa or sauna in the hotel
The room was amazing. I had the balcony as well. The staff were super friendly and patient with us being such a big group. Breakfast was amazing too! Rooms were big and clean. Looked new as well. Highly recommended!
Big and quite boring hotel. A typical conference hotel. It is, however, the first conference hotel I live on who does not have blocks and pens in the hotel rooms. Excellent breakfast. Quick and efficient check-in and check-out. About 20 minutes walk into Haarlem's charming center.
