We enjoyed the easy pool and beach access. The restaurant was convenient. The room was nice in a quite neighborhood and the service friendly and devoted. Overall excellent stay. Thank you for your hospitality.
The location is great and the beach is really nice, but the rest was disappointing. The rooms are big but old, with a very(!) noisy plumbing. The pool is clean but the pool area is very small. We stayed there for one night and found a better hotel in the same price for the rest of our stay in Samui.
Nice little resort on the beach, however central to all restaurant and cafes. Not five star, however comfortable, friendly, and not over run with large numbers of guests. Cottages a little rustic however comfortable with air con and most amenities.
Midst the hussle and bustle of Koh Samui this is a little oasis. Small, more boutique hotel I have never stayed at a place where there are so many nationalities. With only 35 rooms and probably 3 1/2 to 4 star I could not fault it. Staff were always helpful and friendly. Rooms always clean. Breakfast was ample and catered for all, although not extensive. Location on the beach was perfect and well placed in Chaweng to shops being right opposite a shopping centre.. Ideal stay. Thankyou Malibu hotel really appreciate the complimentary upgrade.
We travelled with 2 other couples 2 of us had identical rooms we were charged at a much higher rate. The room was dirty smelly and musty. When I asked for a room change I was told there would be additional charge and office staff where not helpful or interested in helping in anyway. So I paid for the upgrade room was much nicer and clean 2nd night in new room the people next door partied and yelled till 3am until finally the police arrived. 3rd night in our room our shower backed up and there was water everywhere. We had to move rooms yet again with no offer of help or compensation. Day 4 the resort was fumigated with a fogging machine sent through as we had moved 3 times we missed the memo and came back and to dead cockroaches through our room.It was our first break in over a year and was disappointing to spend it this way. It's our 4th trip to Thailand and love the beautiful friendly people and location but sadly this was not the case at the Malibu Resort.
Our 12 night stay at Malibu Resort exceeded our expectations and we would not hesitate to stay here again. We arrived early, but this was not a problem to the staff, they had made sure one of our two rooms were available to us. The checkin process was handled with ease and we were taken to our room where everything about the room was explained clearly to us. Initial impression of rooms was that they are a little run down (a coat of paint inside and outside stairs could maybe freshened up). However, once we had settled in we found the rooms clean and very comfortable. We had a Superior Terrace room upstairs with balcony. The room was very large and the air conditioner was fantastic, kept the room lovely and cool. Wifi was excellent throughout complex. The best thing about Malibu was the staff, they were all amazing and so friendly. They did everything to make our stay as enjoyable as possible and we felt we were leaving friends behind when the time to leave came. We had the best time when we did the Cooking Class - learnt lots and had lots of fun as well as enjoying really yummy food. Well worth doing during your stay. Breakfast was superb with a selection of fruit juices, fresh fruits, cereals, bread for toasting, croissants with fresh jams and marmalade - egg bar where eggs were cooked to order, ie poached, fried, scrambled or omelette (superb), to go with the selection of bacon, sausages, has Browns etc. Also a salad and meat selection. Great way to start the day. The location of Malibu Resort is excellent, right on beach where the sand was white and soft was great area for swimming. The pool, although small was adequate for size of property - was never crowded while we were there. The Resort is in great area of Chaweng for shopping and eating with everything just outside hotel. As hotel is set forward from street we never heard any street noise while there. Well done Malibu Resort, we will be back.
We booked a deluxe double room, the room was spacious with nice decoration, good air condition system and clean. We had a problem with our safe box and our plumbing system which was immediately resolved. The staff was amazing. The pool area was good enough, not crowded and the food at the restaurant was excellent. The only disappointment for us was an incident where we had to pay 750 baht plus for a missing umbrella which we did not know of its existence until our check out.So keep in mind to guard hotels stuff properly and ask about hotel policy. The location is great.
This was the second time staying at this hotel and it is great!. The pool is not huge but is perfect. The beach is only a few steps away and the staff treat you better than anyone can. The service at this hotel is amazing and i would stay here again when i return to Koh Samui. The rooms are not modern but have a great beach resort style feel to them.
We had a great stay in the Malibu Resort. We stayed in a superior cottage and our room was absolutely gorgeous. The decor reminded me of something you would see in a beach town in the US, the bathroom was massive and the bed was extremely comfortable. The cottage was so spacious we had plenty of room for luggage and overall the place was very relaxing and quite luxurious! The area around the pool is quite small with only about 8 sunloungers but we got one on both days with no problems. There are a number of sunloungers available on the beach also. The staff were very friendly throughout the hotel and very helpful at all times, we were able to arrange a taxi back to the airport on check out which was great. The room deposit is quite high at 3000 bhat (average in most hotels is 1000 bhat) so just keep that in mind. But we had no problems getting the full amount back when we left. We also availed of the Thai Cooking class offered at the hotel. It was brilliant!! We had a great afternoon. It is fantastic value at 1500 bhat per person or 2800 bhat per couple. It was great value. The day before the course we got to choose what items we would like to cook the next day from the menu and we made 4 dishes. You get to eat and enjoy the food you cook so it is great value for a massive meal as well. We got to take home a recipe book and the staff took lots of photos which they emailed to us as a keepsake. We also got a certificate and a printed photo at the end which was a very nice touch. The hotel is in a prime location. The large shopping mall is across the street and there are plenty of massage parlours, pharmacys, convenience stores all within a stones throw of the hotel. The hotel is only minutes from all of the bars and restaurants so it is a great place to base yourself in Central Chaweng. Would 100% recommend that you stay in this hotel!
The Malibu resort is well kept and most of the staff very gentle.Rooms are nice and very spacy. They always tidy and the daily cleaning works perfectly fine. The pool is perfect although the pool area is a little bit narrow. Overall the whole place and the service offered is really very good. It is a resort I definitely can recommend! However, there are some flaws. We met all through a very strange behaviour by the staff - and they of course followed detailed instructions by the management. At arrival, we were showed to the room, the girl was very keen to tell us what everything was costing (if disapperaring or damaged = nicked by us of course), she even presented a price list for all items in the room. I have been travelling a lot in my life but really never met a hotel that put a price on the safe....Who would bring that home? When asking to borrow wine glasses in the restaurant, we of course got them directly, but was informed that they cost 250 THB a piece if broken. You can see the price list that was presented to us in the photo file. My wife, who is Asian, was every time she came back to the hotel met by the same rude question; "Do you live here?" She is used to that kind of treatment when travelling in Thailand, but it got rather tiresome when the same guard asks the same rude question every time she's passing him, could be 3-4 times the same day. But I guess he just followed instructions as all the other. Furthermore and definitely worse is that the nabour hotel is letting out their drainage just at the beach. The seawater below the hotel is of such a bad quality that it is easy to chose the pool instead. Unfortunately this is not a unusual phenomenon on Chaweng beach, several of the hotels has the same habit. How shortsighted can one be? It will destroy the water quality and the tourists will easily chose a cleaner beach somewhere else! Nevertheless, our marks for Malibu is high - They do their best to deliver good service and (most often) offering the fantastic Thail courtesy to their guests.
