Royal Tulip Luxury Hotels Carat - Guangzhou4.0 out of 5.0

A nice but older hotel with friendly staff. Rooms are on the small side, but clean. Stayed at the hotel to attend a wedding reception and dinner party. The buffet dinner was of average quality but this is likely more a function of the ordered servings. The service was on the slow side. The hotel is advertised as being 3.2 km to the Guangzhou City Center, but it seems much further, and 27 km to Baiyun International Airport (CAN). The official name “Royal Tulip Luxury Hotels Carat” is somewhat misleading. It is more of a 4-star, certainly not a luxury hotel.
Hotel was very good, clean. Breakfast was in line with the International Standards with wide variety of choices. Only problem was that the front desk staff were not equipped with English speaking skills, so sometimes was difficult to make them understand. But overall a wonderful experience.
I've just spent 4 nights in this hotel and I can say without hesitation the food is subpar, service is lacking as there has been no attempts to accommodate English speaking patrons. General condition of hotel and rooms is Rundown and overall musty-smelling. I would recommend spending an extra 20 US dollars per night 4 different accommodations
Been staying in the carat hotel for few times in the last few years. last time on Oct 2016. advantages - 1. Rather new. Rooms are designed nicely and not small. 2. Reasonably priced. 3. The food is good, including breakfast and room service. 4. Have all the necessary facilities like gym, swimming pool. Dis-advantage - 1. Not close to the city center, but can get a taxi quite easily. 2. Not much to eat around the hotel at night. 3. Some of the staff could be more inviting.
The hotel accommodations are good, rooms are a bit dark, but are well-equipped, and breakfast was quite good, with enough options for both foreign and local people. The service could be better, but overall it is a good option if you are in Guangzhou for business and if you go to Canton Fair there is shuttle bus available.
This was probably once a beautiful hotel. Huge entrance hall, nice courtyard, the kind of swimming pool area you see in an 80s Bond film... but it feels like it has long lacked any love and attention. The whole hotel smells of damp, (to the point that there are dehumidifiers everywhere) and the service also leaves a lot to be desired. There were a couple of outstanding staff members, but the rest seemed to constantly give 'no' as the answer and always more interested in getting you to sign checks, than to help you. On the plus side, I absolutely loved my room here (ask for one with a window), and found it to be clean and comfortable.
Never going back, crappy service, what a shame! Having stayed in this hotel for the last 3 years am very dissatisfied with the level of service offered on my previous and last visit. We were asked to leave without notice while we were already booked in, apparently someone of greater importance got priority over us who had already paid. To staff were rude and unprofessional in handling the mater. I have liked royal tulip but am definitely not coming back again.
When we first booked it online we thought that it would be just an average hotel. But no sooner we reached the hotel we were amazed with its modern design and great ambiance. It is a very neat hotel with corteous staff. The room was neat and clean with all the aminities. The bathroon was right there almost inside the room having just a glass partition. The wash basin was included inside the room, which was kind of stange but it was new and beautiful. Couples having kids might find it a bit strange. Their breakfast was lovely as well. They only drawback is its location as compared to the main city. There are no subways nearby so the only option left is either the bus or the taxy. Make sure to reach hotel back before 10 as the buses are less after that so are the taxis. And as application in rest of china, if you do not speak Chinese, do not forget to keep the hotels business card with you all the time. otherwise you would find it very difficult to communicate with the taxi drivers. Will love to go back there again.
Came To Canton Fair For Business , a littel long chack in , i asked for a room that is close to the elevator and get a room that is very far But in general Its A very Good Hotel with good service and facilitys the breakfast + dinner Its Very Good Lots Of Seafoods Nice Spa And Pool Area
We booked non smoking room & turn out the non smoking room smells of cigarette. They didn't have any similar room to swap & didn't offer us an upgrade. We have to bargain and yet we paid extra RMB208 for another room. In total we paid around RMB900. Room is not very spacious and weird designed. For the price we paid here, I rather pay a little more for a 5 star hotel. Check in/out at reception was very slow. Staff are not collaborative and not well trained/efficient. Won't be back again.
